  1. Looks like Lay got his wish, they really did do Sheep....where did they even find the time? Click here to view the Tweet
  2. I wonder if Ye Ziming is going to rise. I think he would be a very versatile addition to the group, I really enjoyed his rap, and I think he'd be more of a fit than say Wang Yi or the other guy that always wears a headband. I love Chen Sijian's rapping, but I think he should try for a solo career and focus more on his own songs. I really like Zhang Yu's voice and he looked great in Retreat, but he's third in line of the remaining 3 from Mr. Tyger. Since Jia Yi seems like an almost definite for top 9, I think they will sacrifice Zhang Yu and put all their resources into keeping Lin Mo higher in the ranks. If I were a sponsor, I'd want someone like Guan Yue to endorse my products. Variety shows like QCYN love to milk his kind of story too, although I'm glad they didn't blatantly make it as part of his story line. Both his parents are deaf, humble beginnings, bright and positive personality, caring, etc. He's the type that people naturally want to root for.
  3. Yes, I love the guy with his mermaid eye makeup, he is so snarky and their Sichuanese English is hilarious. I get the feeling she's not exactly fond of Deng Chaoyuan, but of course she's not going to say anything while he's still on the show.
  4. I watch some Chinese reactioners to the show and I don't know if they are just speculating or if it's proven to be public knowledge that companies pay iQiyi for screen time and unless a contestant brings something to the table where they can kind of build a storyline around, there's zero chance for you to make it. So whereas international fans are talking about who they should vote for, these Chinese fans are all speculating which company paid iQiyi the most, which contestants these companies are pushing and who they are willing to sacrifice. I mean I know there's probably a lot that goes on that we are not aware of, but it's really eye opening. Some are saying that Maverick's are notorious for being stingy otherwise Li Xikan would have gotten more popularity. Yao Chi gets screen time, because there's enough personality there for him to be entertaining, but iQiyi will not let him make the cut. Also heard that BG were initially pushing Shizan and Shi Mingze, but then Retreat happened and Li Zhenning stole their thunder. They've been speculating whether the company will sacrifice Shizan or Zhenning if there were to be one open spot in top 9. I thought for sure these types of shows would not be allowed anymore after what happened with PD101 China, but I guess the addition of the old guys to make it "educational" which All For One also did was enough for the authorities to turn a blind eye. The vote manipulation and fans/companies competing with each other on who is willing to spend more is still super shady.
  5. I think iQiyi is walking a tightrope with vote buying. They got a pass last year, but the authorities were pissed at Tencent last year after their VIP pass vote buying fiasco. I thought these types of shows wouldn't be able to air so they'd stop this practice, but I guess sponsors are still king. Maybe it's because with Tencent, they were the ones pocketing the money? and this one seems less of a scam? but it still feels so wrong, especially when companies are basically showing off how many they bought or rather how many votes they have. How is that even fair? these companies should be banned from participating. This is not even healthy competition anymore. However I also keep thinking how one of the main goals of Chinese shows is to be talked about to the point where your show is consistently being listed at the top of the search trends. I guess that's the thing that gets sponsors to give more money to your platform/network. Conflict is a great way to get up in search, I'm sure these shows actually love it when one contestant's fans get organized to bash another contestant's fans or company. The more conflict, the more buzz.
  6. It must be kind of fun working for Idol Producer/QCYN. The editors make ugly edits of their faves like Jia Yi during the tug-of-war segment and they post animal comparison pics of the contestants on the official QCYN social media account. Lian Huaiwei is my favorite, look at that resemblance Click here to view the Tweet
  7. Li Wenhan is a big dummy. People wouldn't think that just by looking at him, but he's always been that way. UNIQ used to have lots of videos of the members' everyday life and he's always been this goofy. I can see why he gets along with Jia Yi so well, they're kind of like Dumb and Dumber. I can't believe they didn't include the segment where they ask the boys who they'd pick to date their sister in the actual episode. Wenhan said ME...oh wait wait, no...that relationship would be kind of messy. Another ridiculous thing you'd expect from him. He does seem like someone people naturally want to be around though and he's been a positive influence to some of the other kids. I was kind of on the fence when I heard he had joined the program, Yuehua pulling another one member as a mentor, the others as trainees thing, but knowing the success Meiqi and Xuanyi had on PD101 I knew his popularity would surge. He's not the most standout vocalist, but aside from him being from Yuehua which will ensure he'd get screen time, I knew his dumb personality would also attract a lot of attention.
  8. I think that's why most of the reactions I've seen are positive, like aww cute, couple goals. No hate or anything like that.
  9. He might lose some fans, but dating has never been considered a scandal in C-ent
  10. In case there are people here who don't want to see....some of his fans want to drop him for his ex
  11. I just saw a compilation....they cute together I am so relieved actually, I don't even know why. She looks so normal. Most of the time, when there is news about so and so's ex, it's usually some girl who tries to gain fame online with pictures that either uses too much filters or they actually do stuff to their face that makes them look completely unnatural making me question the guy's taste.
  12. It's been blocked on Youtube for violating iQiyi copyright and geo-blocked in most place on Dailymotion. You can watch it here, though there are lots of popups https://streamango.com/f/bsdcebctkddkqdoa/ep5_final_0_mp4
  13. Hahahaha....I legit thought Lian Huaiwei was going to get Dongdong'd this season since he kind of had the same character setup in the first episode. He's talented though and always hanging out with the cool kids so he ain't going anywhere and plus even if you don't see him on the screen you can hear him laughing and screaming in the background. He always makes his presence known. They're still giving Wang JIayi more screen time than Dongdong by this time.
  14. He's kind of like uncle Junyi from season one, talent's there, but the image somehow just doesn't fit that much into a boy group
  15. I'm crying at how atrocious the Wenhan / Jia Yi / Wang Zhe / Deng Chaoyuan / Chen Tao team looks. I don't know if I have the courage to watch next week.
  16. It was a good use of the IP/QCYN editors' love for dramatic slow-mos, made the whole scene very dream-like. I'd actually watch this rom-com, although I'm still holding out for a Bu Fan x Xiao Gui type relationship.
  17. They're probably all eating each others' food like last year. I remember screaming at my screen when I saw them spoon feeding like 4 different people. It's a competition where you have to be at your peak for a performance, why jeopardize that by possibly catching a cold from someone else or even worse. Maybe Jia Yi and Wenhan were frolicking in the snow for too long (as seen in the preview of iQiyi's new rom-com they showed us at the end of ep 5)
  18. Usually when it's a song copyright issue, there's a generic copyright message, but the blocked video specifically said 'violated iQiyi's copyright.' There's a Korean subbed video of ep 1 that was taken down too, but they already reuploaded it. It is kind of strange how the other episodes are still up, but if I remember correctly they also only blocked one video at a time for the previously season until more recently when they were completely wiped out. I really hope they can resolve it like they did in the past, because watching it on that shady streaming site is no bueno.
  19. Careful where you open it though, there are some questionable ads and popup ads
  20. Blocked for me too. Saw previous episodes subbed in other languages also got hit on Youtube. I hope they are able to resolve it like they did when this happened during season 1.
  21. Yikes, ep 5 was uploaded, but blocked by iQiyi due to copyright. Let's all pray it gets resolved.
