Recently Read (I have a 3 hour commute to and from university everyday so I finish books pretty fast) Wintersong: Tbh I only picked up this book because of its cover. The writing and prose was gorgeous, honestly some of the best that I've read in a while, unfortunately that appears to be the only thing I liked about the book. The plot is basically nonexistent, and the pacing is horrendously slow, I had to force myself to finish the book. Three Dark Crowns: The premise of the book was super promising, despite the lackluster reviews, so I decided heck why not? Unfortunately, the book's pacing is super slow for like the first 60% of the book, however its picks up in the last 40%. I found the love interests to be very boring, and the love triangle was really not even needed lmao. Anyways, the ending was interesting enough that i'll probably read its sequel when it comes out. Shades of Magic Trilogy: Wow, I basically sped through these three books because that's how addicting they were. The characters were amazingly developed (I love Lila omg), a LGBT character is hinted at in the first book and a gay romance is introduced in the 2nd book. The world building was also great and seemingly original, and was helped along by Schwab's descriptive and imaginative writing. The series felt like a breath of fresh air after a long run of poorly paced and disappointing books. The last book was probably my favourite, it's pacing was fast from start to finish, it was bloody, it was heartbreaking, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and I loved every second of it.
