yeapp afaik that's pretty much how the 24 Hits system works! in essence Melon (and Flo) now uses UL as a way to measure a song's "quality" of streams while Genie and Bugs still rely solely on streaming numbers which measure more of a song's "quantity". i guess if you consider that Melon is the largest subscription music service in South Korea, not only would a real-time chart be easier to manipulate by hardcore fandoms/bots, having such a big platform show UL is likely a more accurate measure of which songs are "popular" at the moment.

hmm well these realtime (or even UL) rankings are all relative, meaning the positioning of a song is highly dependent on various factors e.g. who else is releasing music at the same time/in the same hour, whether there are any sudden or newly hot/rising/trending songs, what kind of songs are in the charts (OSTs from popular dramas/collaborations etc) so perhaps looking at the actual numbers (disclaimer: im only looking at Genie since its the easiest to find data) could give us a slightly more accurate idea of Mago's performance!

      Reveal hidden contents

in 4 days this is what MAGO achieved. Within a day, its gained 40k UL and is currently at 1.4M streams

Apple achieved 400k UL and 3.5M streams in exactly a month. In 3 monthsApple gained 70k+ UL and is nearing 5M streams

in about two weeks, Crossroads earned over 350k+ UL and 2M streams. In 9 months, Crossroads gained nearly 200k UL and is nearing 6M streams

of course, the 3 songs were released at different times so comparing the numbers quantitively wldn't make sense but my point is rankings can often be misleading. looking at pure numbers Gfriend, we can kinda see how Crossroads gained numbers quickly initially but Apple's longevity is bringing it up to par with Crossroad's numbers. We also see how, numbers wise, Mago has a chance to outdo both Crossroad's two week performance as well as Apple's first month performance, which puts into perspective Mago being their first song to hit Genie real-time in 3 years! At the same time it's fall in ranking could be due to various other factors - but the actual numbers don't lie.

If u look at Spotify on the other hand, the numbers give a similar picture. Crossroads took 1.5 months to reach 3M streams, Apple took 16 days to reach that same milestone. And Mago is already more than half way there within its first 5 days.

also about Mago's melon hearts in relation to other groups' songs - well even the difference between Mago's hearts and Crossroads'/Apple's hearts on melon is less than 20k despite Mago being released literally 5 days ago...which then makes sense since this concept and genre change seems to getting pretty good reception amongst fans and non-fans. But we must also remember that Gfriend's fandom and GP presence is focused on their group branding and image, whereas there are other groups whose members are equally, if not more, recognised on their own which in turn brings in a wider pool of fans/casual listeners from various communities (e.g. YouTube, variety and reality shows, solo album promos, modelling and acting gigs etc) which then pushes up UL and streaming numbers

wow that’s explains a lot! thanks for the explanation and let’s hope the best!

Anyone is free to clarify it for me if I have misunderstood or explained it wrong.

On Melon, the rankings isn't determined by the number of hearts (♥) next to a song. It shifts based on the accumulated number of unique listeners (who own a Melon pass) that have downloaded and/or streamed (60:40) the song within a 24-hour period, from the time the chart releases its update. For example, at 01:00 (11/13), it counts the number of listeners from 01:00 (11/12) to 01:00 (11/13).

The rankings for a song won't be properly reflected until at least one day has passed since its release.

now I understand better, thanks for the explanation!

Yes we did hit on the 1st day but after it keeps dropping based on that fanbase I shared with you, they mentioned kbuddies not enough money. & now i saw some fans asking whether those ifans sharing those genie stream will be counted (<- I know in the past , I ever stream for SN*D using this method & it works) but I so far didn't heard genie change /talk about it as illgeal. So i really don't know is someone is sabotaging the girls.

Personally think is much better than the last 2 cb.

    thanks!
