Iconic Dance Scenes
aka the most uninspiring and boring theme everScene 1

Scene 2

if you want something really entertaining, read the youtube comments of the song video, it's very cringy
Scene 3

(no youtubedoubler for this one since the film sequence has some copyrights protection, just start both the music and the scene at the same time)
Breakdown

Dance theme as a main theme is nothing grand or over the top, I've already done both before in music games' final rounds and I'm kind of tired of always going the extra slash faux deep road. So just for this time, I am going with dance scenes from movies I personally love with music that I think particularly fits. It probably seem like a no-brainer at first, but I really enjoyed picking the songs for this round and these scenes and music mean a lot to me. This might not impress you judges, but hopefully it'll entertain you
(a special wink wink to russian la messo and carlito the lesbian enthusiast for helping me throughout this game and shoutout to the ilijin squad and ring bearer for supporting me <3)

In the Mood For Love is one of my favourite movies ever eh TT

Moon. - Scene 3 - M.I.A - Bad Girls
I am submitting this before I can change my mind, which I have been doing A LOT ever since I saw the round. Anyways, trashy bop for trashy scene. This is one of my all time favourite guilty pleasures and that's because I feel like such a bad bitch whenever I put this on repeat and that backing track and hook are just addictive as fuck (Danja behind the production, that man is just sick). I know i'll regret this as soon as I submit, but like any white girls who orders pumpkin spice latte at starbucks would say, YOLO. I had more 'serious', i could say, options for this round, but at the end i just want to have fun and submit MIA BITCHES.
also this song has one of the best music videos ever

hello i am hesitating between 3 songs rn and no way to pick one dont kill me judges pls

Moon. - Scene 2 - Nick Cave & The Bad seeds ft Kylie Minogue - Where The Wild Roses Grow
today the meaning of the universe (or of this game) just quite literally dawned on me and it's that : i'm tired of posting formulaic submissions that fits the scenes in hope that i finally grind back to the first place. I forgot tonya's #1 MO which is :'the important thing is to have fun'. And here I am with a southern gothic song for what is supposed to be a heartbreaking scene. (I love Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds btw, please do yourself a favour and listen to Skeleton Tree)
Tbh my favourite movie directors always try to build a sort of anticipation under the form of music that contrasts with the actual scene, and that in order to keep the watcher on his toes. What happens here : the spectator hears this dark anxiety-filled tune yet can't quite connect the music to the actual scene. How could he ? It's indeed a dramatic song about the murder of a woman and what is showing is a happy couple who didn't go easy on the drugs. With this effect, I wanted to create a rather claustrophobic ambiance for the watcher who is now expecting something bad to happen but can't pinpont what or when ? Then, the murder happens and it all falls into place. I did this mostly because the scene kind of falls flat at conveying any kind of emotion (personally!!) with all the cheesy editing and conventional cuts, so I thought maybe an unusual score would bump it.
I am submitting this fully knowing that I have a 90% chance of flopping , but, eh, I have nothing to lose in retrospective.
Also Kylie Minogue (!!!) and Nick Cave (!!!!!!!!!!), who would've fuckin thought

Not this buffy scene, I bawled like a baby first time i watched it
-
Moon. - Scene 1 - Marina And The Diamonds - Primadonna
I used to shit on Marina and the diamonds until i embraced the fact that she LOVES being theatrical and over the top, and she is so self aware about it (not like other tumblr icons like coughs halseys cough melanie martinez). Theatrical and over the top, just like marie antoinette. Anyways this song absolutely bangs and the lyrics+melody fit the scene to a T. Also, we love synthpop.

Just popping in to say that the french version is vastly superior

Not shawnee predicting one of the rounds

PANACOTTA GET TO WORK YOU LAZY BUM
-
Moon. - Scene 1 - Gorillaz - Empire Ants
Normally i'd say close your eyes to get the full effect of this gorgeous song, but this ain't how this game's done. Nevertheless this fits scene splendidly.

If I hear the words 'I call this piece advertising' ever again i will go nuts

Don't drag my girlfriend too muchnot this spoiler
ye it saved some lives by draining the live force of others
-
Oh wait, it works
What the judges would've loved for Scene 3 because it worked even though it shouldn't lmfao
Mmmh i like to think of these kind of games as an opportunity to introduce new music and get introduced to new music in return, so in general I really want to avoid submitting hits

Carly Rae Jepsen doesn't deserve thisJudging this round is an emotional rollercoaster.
From iconic submissions to there being one of my most hated artists ever.
E•mo•tion saved lives

Moon. - Scene 3 - Kate Bush - Never Be Mine
Okay y'all probably saw it coming, or at least one judge probably did, but I am finally submitting a Kate Bush song, who is one of my favourite artists ever.
For my interpretation of this scene, I kind of got an ethereal fantasy like slash dream like feeling leaning towards innocent, almost as if it's a traditional 'calm before the storm' moment where the characters truly get to enjoy life and love to their fullest before mess ensues.
And this is why I picked this song. It's just the perfect fantasy song for an eerily moment like this and the lyrics just perfectly fits the situation. They might seem about an unrequited love at first but Kate Bush said during an interview that it's a song about a dream that she doesn't want to end, which is the vibe I got from the scene. (check lyricks here)
It's just a beautiful song overall and Kate Bush's vocals are as hypnotizing as ever and she got a bulgarian traditional band to accompany her on the backing track, if that ain't the coolest thing ever.

tbh shoutout to ssl for surviving this long even after submitting 'We Like' for R1

Moon. - Scene 3 - Crystal Castles ft. Robert Smith - Not In Love
Scene 3 edges out scene 2 in a way that the second one is more of a party glorification while scene 3 is deep down a story of a guy who is spiraling down because of his emotional failures (substance abuse, drama with effy ...). I wanted to pick a song that showed this kind of hidden despair (since every choice during tv making matters, from the decor to the song choice) while also giving a party anthem that illustrates the saying 'cry hard, dance harder'. Especially coupled with the mini drama with effy, it fits perfectly.
as for the song, I don't have much time to expand lmao so i'm just going to quote rolling stones on it ' Crystal Castles have made this song into an awesomely gothic, vocoder-slathered dance-floor monster. Shunning love but singing with lust, Smith wails as the bass line rumbles and the keyboards go from spookily churchy to magnificently claustrophobic'. In a mortal language, it means catchy ass tune LOL XD KEKEKEKE im out (listen to crystal castles II for any synthpop lovers out there, a super good album!!!)
