  1. Hello! I haven't seen you guys before.

Hey hey! How are you :D

I'm kinda hoping for an old school 95er reunion, but I doubt that will happen :(

really? we're the old school 95ers. we've been here for years. We just both have been on hiatus. I left this site all together

It won't happen until everyone moves their ass into this thread again...and we get them to start talking

    Hope everyones doing all good

    Thread royalty

haha nah we aren't that important

  2. I had a great dream today.

Somehow I found a way to travel back to late 2009- early 2010. Now obviously I couldn't meet up with anyone I knew since that will mess up the space time continuum. So to spend my time wisely, I got myself straight to a CD shop to bulk buy older CDs. I saw all of BEG's albums before Sound - G so I bought them all. Also saw Rainbow's 1st CD among other now rare items so I bought them all. It was hard at first to pay since I couldn't use any coins or dollars printed after 2009/2010. (Imagine you as a cashier seeing a coin that said "printed 2012" while in 2009!) and because my credit card didn't work since it was made in 2015.

I ended up still being able to buy all of it but once I got back to present day, all the CDs disappeared after few hours. I said what gives?? And suddenly out of nowhere Narsha came into my house saying "You thought items brought from the past could last this long? What makes you think that? hahaha" And the hair on her head suddenly disappeared.

It turns out Narsha never owned any of her many wigs. She always went back in time to buy them and wore them on present day right before they disappeared. I was like wow...I am going back to the past again to buy more!

    And then I woke up.

  3. A cut of the performance mentioned above:

This performance impacts me deeply and let me go slightly off topic.

Baek Ji Young is one of my fav K-Pop artists. BEG is my fav K-Pop group.

And both are Korean girl crush/girl power icons...

Dash was one of the first K-Pop songs of a girl taking the first step to asking out a guy and criticizing how guys feel uneasy when girls take the first step...among her other empowering songs...

And of course how she managed to survive conservative Korean society/industry despite the unfortunate incident that plagued her...and is still kicking ass as the Queen of Ballad she is today...

And we have BEG who also have empowering songs/videos and technically was the "girl crush group" before the term came into being this year. (Let's not also forget how Abracadabra revolutionized the K-Pop industry in many ways).

To see an interaction between the two artists, even though it's very indirect, makes me feel so happy....

I don't use these terms often but..

Truly the queens and icons of Korea...

  4. Receipts?

I don't remember exo getting mediaplayed like this ever

And Bigbang rose to fame with Lies and when the market wasn't over saturated like these days

Anyway, I think Bighit should stop their weird mediaplay, tagging famous acts on a youtube video of bts is a new low

bts doesn't deserve that either, their company should wisen up

... yeah I am not going to collect articles for all these different groups but i will state some popular ones and ones I can remember

There is the "I am blood related to this person" style (MBLAQ -> 2NE1 and Go Eun Ah, F(X) -> SNSD, Roy Kim -> Rainbow, Berry Good -> AOA, D.Unit -> T-ARA, etc.)

There is the "I am a hoobae to my company sunbaes! Inspired by them, know them well, here are some stories I have with them" style

(Really all groups of established companies like SM, YG, JYP, etc. And of course the articles start pouring in like "Shinee, the follow up to DBSK?" "EXO, the follow up to Super Junior?" "f(x), the younger SNSD?" "KARA, the new Fin.K.L?", etc.)

This are some examples. There are other methods, like the ones Bighit are using, and so much more examples of each method. Look them up yourself if you want the actual articles. (May be hard now since some are so long ago.)

With SM, they tend to use senior groups that are already big to help their younger acts (sticking them in performances, cameos in music videos, their shows, etc.) to give them more exposure.

Ah yes, there is also the "I appeared in these big groups music videos, performances" method as well. Thank you for reminding me.

  5. Furthermore, YG and SM did a lot of mediaplaying for Big Bang and EXO in their debut years using names of bigger groups/artists. And now BTS is being media played through Big Bang and EXO.

It's a cycle that will always continue.

It's just a matter of when it will end though. We don't know what is the limit or the point where Bighit will think. "Alright, promotions through using the name of other groups won't be necessary anymore."

  6. Was going through Mystic's site and was really impressed! Everything was up to date unlike other entertainment sites and the BEG section has everything all neatly organized and updated to include information on their concerts, albums, singles, main TV appearances, etc.

Some kinda interesting facts I learned from the site:

Love Action was meant to be the title track for the "With L.O.V.E" mini-album but was replaced last minute with L.O.V.E. In fact, L.O.V.E was completed a week before the day the album was supposed to be mastered and finalized. They went with L.O.V.E because a) more preparation and work was done to complete the song and b) the musicality and vocals of BEG and the song itself matched very well.

BEG ballad Farewell Letter was mastered and ready to be released in the "Leave Ms. Kim" album but was eventually pulled back because the company believed the song did not match the album's overall sound. The shelved song was released one year later in the "With L.O.V.E" mini-album.

Also, You was very close to being the title track for "My Style" min-album but in the end, How Come was chosen to lead.

Finally, there were initially two versions of L.O.V.E. BEG and the company agreed to choose the more experimental sounding version. The other more mainstream version was eventually sung again, renamed, and released few months later as My Style.
