  1. I think you misunderstand me when you say 'catering to the gays'. I didn't say that implicitly. I said could companies be taking stock of the fact that today's (I guess mostly large liberal) audiences are tuning in more now than ever, with K-pop taking off globally.

I'm painfully aware that most companies don't give a rat's about gays. But I think they are aware of the need to be marketable towards global audiences, many with lower tolerance thresholds against certain things than perhaps Korean audiences have. On the other hand I don't rule out that Bobby's sentiments were genuine (as I said above). It's just hard for me to know for sure. I'm fully prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, it's no skin off my nose.

I'm just pondering an alternative to why he would do an about face.

Well iKON arent pushed in the western market ~~or korean~ (yg doesnt even let them tour in america) so why would yg make an iKON member say something that would just be accepted in more liberal societies? Most of their fans are in Asia therefore yg doesnt need to do that with them, Bobby was raised in America so maybe his feelings about the topic were influenced by the environment he was raised in.

  2. Interesting. Do you think it's also possible that they've seen the way other groups are more considerate and less mocking towards LGBT+ and their team thought, well, if we want to chase wider audiences and/or stay controversy-free (as best we can) we might have to reign this sorta shit in? And say like, Bobby has felt obliged, or been told, to smooth it over by presenting himself as more open minded and potentially bi? Until the mess dies down?

I mean he might be genuine in what he's expressing. These might have been soul-purging moments. And you put forward a great argument for it being a testing of waters for members anyway, cushioned within the safety of TV/viewable mockery at LGBT for laughs (and executed in a ham-fisted way). But these industries are also clever, and ruthless. Along the road to greatness even the mighty BTS stopped with the young buck behaviour and softened their edges after various gaffes and outcries. So is it possible that Bobby and Co's team had a meeting and decided to change tack to keep up with today's eagle-eyed audiences. Who are not necessarily going to let these things be forgotten so easily without some accountability?

Maybe there's no single easy answer. But like others here I found Bobby's flip-flop a bit sus, although obviously he was still putting his neck on the line by effectively insinuating he's not straight within a conservative environment. But I just can't escape the feeling that because K-pop is suddenly such mega money and has never had it so good, I don't entirely trust that everything these groups and artists do is wholly organic - without basic survival tactics/money/market share being involved.

Separating the big business angle from the heartfelt sentiment is sometimes a grey area. As with probably most people, I'd rather artists were honest and say they hated LGBT+ and I can move on, rather than false overtures, pathetic skinship and pretend support. Like you say, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out with Bobby.

wait.....pause, do you really believe yg entertainment would cater to the gays and make someone act "bi" or whatever?? Yg? The same company who made nam taehyun kiss a girl and have some bed scene with her while the song was about a guy???? (Check the lyrics for I'm young by nam taehyun and then check the mv LOL.

Also I second what burntgucci said, that video made me felt more upset but I'm not really mad at hanbin who was the one who did the prank because to me it looked like he was testing the waters ( hes really sus on his own and I personally think hes bi) , I was more upset at the other members' reactions, junhoe and jinhwan who I think are gay and bi didn't have those weird reactions, they actually looked uncomfortable with the whole thing, this isnt an #OPPAdidntmeanit moment, you're allowed to feel uncomfortable at the prank as many people were.

Now back to the point yg has never cared enough to cater to the gays, never have, never will, the things you get are probably genuine and coming from the members lol

  3. Getting tired of people writing jackson as straight just because he is masc when he's one of the idols with more receipts, the piles of receipts he has is just so huge, it would take me like 3 hours post them all, but since I'm nice I'm gonna post some under spoilers bc why not lovestruck.png

anyways like I said naming all his receipts would take hours so I'll stop here for now,  I don't know how he comes across as just being an ally when he looks like he is enjoying way too much, if he's an ally he better get the award for being the biggest and greatest  ally in the planet.

  4. In real life, if someone is so jealous that just mentioning a friend gets them riled up, it's a massive red flag and shows a controlling and insecure personality. Not sure why would anyone want to portray their bias like that. I have dated someone like that and I ended up being terrified of them and cut off my friends to please them, it's so unhealthy to act as if possessiveness is a cute relationship trait, IT IS NOT!

right, first off I will never understand people that are fans of those over jealous/ possesive/ punishment tropes, y'all are lowkey romanticizing toxic relationships.

let's say taekook is real, why would jungkook get mad at tae mentioning him in a not romantic concept? please.

same with the whole "jungkook carried him bridal style to make bogum jealous" if taehyung and bogum are dating, why would he care about on stage fan service? I need people to take off their shippers glasses and be rational for once.

  5. This narrative about jungkook hating park bogum because ''he's jealous'' is rather silly, it's not even about taekook or taegum is more about the fact you wanna portray jungkook as this over jealous person...that's not cute on ao3 fics and it's not cute irl....

about taehyung and bogum, I don't really know the status of their relationship but their interactions are cute and it wouldn't surprise me if they had/ have something going on? not saying they do or not since we can't really know but if those rumors about them are true I'd not be shocked.

  6. -Abolish the rule, romance isn’t limited to adults, underage people can fall in love too and this isn’t just about idols speculation but underage users of this forum, keep reinforcing the rule about not sexualizing underage idols, that’s it, any user that does it will get banned/suspended or whatever you guys consider appropriate.

    - in my opinion the bar shouldn’t exist but since you guys have mentioned that you’re not planning to take it down soon I guess raising the age to 21 would avoid people sexualizing idols from the very moment they turn 18, if you decide to apply that rule then take down all the threads that were created about idols that are barely of age like somi, I don’t know how that would protect minor users from the kind of content that is posted on the bar tho….

    - I don’t know if this a rule that already exists but users should be able to dispute their warning points with other mod/ admin, not trying to be petty but it has been proven that some mods abuse their power and they just give WPs to people when they disagree on the valid criticism they have received, someone being rightfully angry at an unfair situation and a mod getting snappy because they happen to disagree is not enough reason to give WPS/ suspend/ ban anyone, someone should have the right to get another mod/ admin to review the punishment they are receiving,  mods / admins are also users and they’re pretty much capable of holding personal vendettas against users they don’t like so a second opinion regarding your warning points / suspension/ banning isn’t a bad idea.

  7. I personally believe that it's 15-20% for male idols (I believe there are more queer men than queer women in the industry).

Might seem like a stretch but the korean idol industry has a lot of attractive things to offer to queer teenage boys/young men if you think about it so I can see why many of them gravitate towards it and would want to become idols.

I don't think that every group has at least one queer male idol like it's some mandatory number because although it's statistically likely it doesn't work like that in the real world because not everything is evenly distributed according to statistics. It largely depends on the number of the group members.

I am sure there are lots of idol groups with no queer members and some of idol groups with more than 1,2 or even 3 queer members and maybe even a few with only or mostly queer members.

I personally believe there are multiple queer members in groups like BTS, Shinee, Seventeen (due to the large number of members) and EXO but I don't think there are any in Winner or Block B.

no one in winner and block B? not even jinwoo and taeil?

  8. FYI I just pmed pineapple so they can show me those posts of me "talking about your family" and to that dupe/anon account pretending to be me, you're fucking pathetic, I asked pineapple to track down my IP so the admin can see I have never created a dupe account and that's something you can prove, if you can't prove shit about me then I suggest you to shut the hell up, for now I'm glad I'm not longer banned and the homophobic posts have been handled, goodnight.

  9. It's honestly concerning when anyone behaves that way but it's definitely even more concerning when they use their position as a mod to censor and delete posts that they don't agree with.

Considering half the posts that have been deleted were talking about actual social issues and concerns I would really like their justification as to why they were being deleted in bulk. It wasn't even talking about any specific members or speculating, more talking about the treatment of sexuality by straight culture and how it relates back to people who speculate in this thread.

It was on topic, relevant and didn't break any rules.

The mod posting in the thread is deleting any and all discussion about the discrimination the LGBT community faces.

Not sure why my post about people discriminating against LGBT and acting as if we only care about sex got deleted? It literally had nothing to do with any minors? Wtf

you know how is this called?

    ABUSE OF POWER.

    goodnight

  10. You see how you can't talk normaly?

But calling other's post dumbs. It's isn't arguing. And you called the majority of my post dumb not only one. And yes you can argue if you want but there is something calling courtesy. Apparently you don't know it.

I don't need to be nice to you, not at all, I know courtesy but I just don't wanna be nice to you, I stick to what I said about your posts being dumb cuz they are, don't say dumb things if you aren't ready to get hit back, I don't wanna spam the thread anymore so I am leaving this thing, also because you bore me to death.54cc185b3f42ab83e03be9356ee34eaf.gif

  11. First you will learn to talk more politely. Who are you to judge my post??

( my post get in general upvoting here and sometimes neg). And if you read good my post I said " I remember" mean Im not sure. I didn't even said he is homophobic, just that he seemed heteronormative before he always talk about girls and once asked the host in nct life if he had a girlfriend. I know that don't mean a lot, but in general straight people are heteronormative. In general. A person already mentionned before you that he deffended transgender people and I said:

So you better read and after talk. It was resolved already.

Who am I to judge your post? I am me and I can talk about whatever I want, so basically what you said is that you assumed something negative related to yuta's character based on the fact ****YOU***** think is straight? Not real basis but your bias against him, give me a breath and GET A GRIP.

If you spew bullshit I will call you on it and guess what? YOU WILL DEAL WITH IT.

  13. I still think Lucas is bi. He gives me Jackson vibes. Just wait a few more years (or months), I'm telling y'all datassplz.png

on point about the jackson vibes, maybe I am projecting but Jackson is one of my biases and Lucas became one of my biases because the way he acts and presents himself reminds me SOOOO much of Jackson, so as you said give him a couple of months and years and you will see, I am not buying the whole hetero fuckboy thing

  14. Guys, what's the TT on Junhoe?

    tenor.gif

well, some ikonics, myself included think he's attracted to men, I haven't seen him showing attraction to women (if he has please show me some examples), he's not really the "stereotypical" guy with mannerisms but he has pinged me before, also ////// warning///// can come off as shippy !!!!!!!! his whole relationship with Bobby is weird, he gets extremely shy around him and to some people it looks like he might have a crush on Bobby, again you have to look it up and see if you also find it suspicious, if you look up "junhoe" in the search bar you might find some receipts on that last part we have shared here.

  15. I don't know if someone posted the video of what taehyun said

but here it is, it's even MORE suspicious in video, that body language, he's not slick.

to give you context, he had to say 3 statements and one of them was false, so he said:

    - I have bipolar disorder

    - I have insomnia

    - I like girls

I mean, if you know a thing or two about nam taehyun you will know the answer right away

    that's like me saying:

    -  I am a girl

    - I like kpop

    - I am straight

Adding on to what Eremit already said, I get why the initial knee jerk reaction might be disappointment, but I also think that's unfair towards him considering his long history of support. The interviewer framed his statement in a bad light by prefacing it with his personal comment about him being 'circumspect', even though Namjoon essentially repeated the message of the song and said that he really likes it. At the same time he was being understandably cautious about his word choice because he clearly didn't want to negate what he said in the original tweet or offend anyone, but probably also wanted to avoid prompting an even more personal follow-up question, which, considering how blunt the interviewer was with his questions before that (he even directly prompted them to comment on Jonghyun's passing), isn't a surprise and I personally can't really fault him for that.

Also, a general question: there have been a bunch of really informative compilation posts for several groups and individual idols at this point and I'm wondering if it'd be possible to add those to the intro post/some other place where they can be easily found? Maybe next to the links to the KeySeop and Jaejoong analysis? I didn't really know how to bring this up because I don't want to toot my own horn haha, but I'm personally keeping my Namjoon compilation post up to date, and I was wondering if it'd be useful for other and especially new users to have a list of posts like that.

    I second this
