  9. You can view both underage drinking and smoking as wrong and i'm against both as well but legality wise in China, there is no smoking age as far as i'm aware. Its a widespread issue especially among teenagers in China, I saw some report that said 9 million teenagers between the ages of 13-15 have tried smoking. I just don't get how this issue is relevant to the topic at hand except to drum up some controversy especially when it's four images that show her smoking one time. We don't know how often she smokes, if she still does, etc. Also, the article mentioned that young people in regions where they plant and produce tobacco were more likely to smoke, such as in Henan were Mei Qi is from. This isn't making an excuse for her but to provide some context.
  10. Click here to view the Tweet I hope her efforts aren't wasted and that she gets better. I wonder how all the other girls are keeping up with this training.
  11. I edited my comment to clarify the law being in China, you completely changed the entire tone of your comment. Lol, I never said they weren't a big deal, these issues are common in every country. You used it as an example to sarcastically remark about China and how they value profit over the children. I just didn't see why it was relevant to the topic at hand. How am I being a tough guy? We're talking about a cpop girl group right now..Yet you came in unable to restrain your giddiness to fling barbs over this discussion about a cpop girl group. You're right everyone does have a right to an opinion so next time no need to back peddle if you went ahead to post in the first place.
  12. Lol why did you edit your original comment? Isn't it better to be transparent instead of beating around the bush and trying to frame it like you care about children? If you're actually going to post that the first time then just follow through with it. Weak. Just did some research and there's a law prohibiting smoking where minors gather in China. If Mei Qi and friends want to smoke that's their concern. Is'nt the drinking age in US 21? Yet there's a lot of underage drinkers.
  13. What does her smoking at the age of 16 have to do with anything? 18 is the limit for purchasing cigarettes but I don't think there's a minimum smoking age.in China. As well, contracts can be amended after they have been signed so long as the involved parties come to a consensus after consultation.
  14. Maybe Yuehua doesn't deserve all of the blame but there's definitely enough to go around and they've made the most puzzling decisions in this situation. If the rumors are to be believed, I think their stalemate with Tencent has emboldened these other small companies to want to renegotiate with Tencent. I don't blame these small companies, they're trying to get in where they fit in to get a bigger piece of the pie. But the timing isn't right and doing this now only serves to piss off Tencent even more. I don't know the original details of the contract and there's no guarantee that Tencent would even want to renegotiate but it would probably make sense to let the girls officially debut as Rocket Girls and get some activities first. Do those small companies even have the leverage to front like have other more lucrative opportunities for the girls at this moment? If they at least attain some success first, there's more cause for them to renegotiate and most people with common sense would support them if they wanted to. But as for Yuehua, you know you messed up when you have other people viewing Tencent as the lesser evil and siding with them. I don't want to play armchair CEO and maybe they've actually thought this through and weighed their options. But if this is just a power move, be prepared for it explode in their faces one way or another.
  15. https://m.weibo.cn/c/story/player?oid=1042151%3A4259604352196461&luicode=10000011&lfid=1076035644764907 YCY and Mengjie in the vid are trying to get the eff out of dodge. Someone save these girls from this mess.
  16. This is definitely a messy situation so I'll guess we'll just have to see how this plays out. The interesting thing to me is that someone made the argument that since Yeonjung placed 11th for I.O.I. it would make sense for her to get 25% of the lines for WJSN songs once she was put in the group. So if Mei Qi and Xuan Yi place 1st and 2nd respectively, will they get a majority of the lines and screentime for this comeback? I am genuinely curious if a majority of the Korean fans even cared about their placement on the Chinese Produce and how they would react if Mei Qi and Xuan Yi got lines and screentime proportionate to their Produce success if they weren't really featured before. If Starship wants to bring them back and give them 4 seconds of screentime/minimal lines, it would honestly be a waste of time. Tencent obviously want to strike while the iron is hot judging by that packed schedule they have lined up for them. WJSN can continue promotions with 11 members or put out a subunit but if the Rocket Girls had to promote without their top 2 contestants that seems kind of unfair to the fans and girls this early on in the group's beginning. Like I said, if Mei Qi and Xuan Yi are more involved with this comeback for WJSN they'll be missing out a lot of time to promote with Rocket Girls which is a timed contract or they're going to be worn out. If they get dragged back and given the amount of lines/screentime as their previous comebacks then they'll lose out on opportunities they could have received through Rocket Girls which will most likely be more fruitful and it would be a huge waste of time for the girls. Honestly, the girls suffer the most from all of this. The window of opportunity is so small with the huge influx of idols popping up left and right in China at the moment. I don't really care for any of the companies involved but it looks like Tencent will be able to provide the best opportunities for Mei Qi and Xuan Yi. When they originally decided to put Mei Qi and Xuan Yi on Produce 101 they probably didn't foresee them finishing 1st and 2nd. But now that they have, whatever was stated in that contract can still be honored. Like I said the 11 members can promote and hold the fort for now and Mei Qi and Xuan Yi can promote for another comeback once things cool down for them in terms of scheduling.

  18. Oh right, my bad. I guess her fangirling and interactions with HYT kind of fit the bill of sweet but awkward too then.
  19. For Zi Ning, maybe sweet but awkward one? She was nice to look after Renyu when they went to Ikea but then embarrassed her with that public address looking for her. Can't forget her Minion impersonations too.
  20. ^I think your descriptions for each girl is pretty spot-on. I'm just throwing out some suggestions for Xuan Yi and Ziting, feel free to disagree. Xuan Yi is like the princess or most like a "idol" in terms of being seen as perfect and always professional. Ziting - this is way out there but if you've ever seen the Fast and Furious she can be like the Han of the group. She's a foreigner but can blend in anywhere. She's Thai but was also part of that vocal trio and now Rocket Girls and can blend in seamlessly. Despite relying on pinyin for reading. Damn, after making the F&F comparison, I want a F&F/Oceans type film series with all the girls filling out different roles.
  21. ^Aojuan in casual clothes I saw someone mention that she has a first love type of look to her and I agree wholeheartedly. So pretty.
  22. Click here to view the Tweet So that earlier picture where Meiyun looked naked, it was for this. McDonald's stepping up their advertising game.
  23. Guess we'll have to see how all this plays out. But the fact is that both Mei Qi and Xuan Yi took this opportunity to appear on Produce 101 China and because of that they have been given great visibility for their talent and skills to be seen and recognized. Not only that but in Mei Qi's case, we were able to see more of her personality/demeanor with everyone referring her to as the "big brother". Also, i'm pretty sure they were both centers and popularity queens for most of their performances (I know Xuan Yi lost some of those popularity queen contests) so she's already been afforded greater chances to showcase her talents. We can only really look to Nine Percent and how their situation has been handled so far but even that's different because of the company and who is managing them. But I think most of their fans have been satisfied with the opportunities afforded to each of their members in terms of cfs/variety show appearances, etc except that they haven't released any music. CXK has like 11 mill followers and is considered an it boy right now so we can only hope Mei Qi gets that same level of attention which she definitely deserves.
  24. I don't think anyone is insinuating that Mei Qi was intentionally sidelined by Starship. But if by all accounts, she is the main dancer, vocalist and best at speaking Korean of the Chinese members and the main opportunities you can name are center positions for the intro of a non title song and some cover at KCon, I don't think Starship provided her opportunities befitting of her talents and skills nor did they give her opportunities for her skills to be recognized by a larger audience. Let's be real, how many people outside hardcore fans would go out of their way to seek out those performances. Beyond that, most people's impression of her would only be from the title songs where she doesn't get many lines/screentime. Obviously with large groups it is nearly impossible to balance opportunities for all of the members and you can't force the public to like a certain member. The fact of the matter is Mei Qi's talents and skills haven't been recognized in Korea. Whereas through Produce 101 China, she's getting the recognition she rightfully deserves and the public seem to love her because she's been given opportunities where her talent and skills can be seen by a larger audience. Also, correct me if i'm wrong but Mei Qi and Xuan Yi got those film roles and "a way out" because of the partnership between Yuehua and Starship, particularly with Yuehua handling their Chinese activities. If that is the case, I shudder at the thought if Yuehua wasn't involved and wonder if they would even get these type of opportunities.
