1. I wanted to know how good/bad/average Krystal's vocals are so I started looking for acoustic performances and there are literally none

https://kpopvocalanalysis.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/fxs-vocal-analysis-krystal/Here you go

The last line in her updated analysis worried me a little

"As it’s been noted, recently there has been a regression so the best route for her would be to take time out to rest, heal and learn how to use her voice again in order to keep her instrument from being permanently damaged."

Would you say that current progress she's made from her lowest shows she hasn't permanently damaged her voice / is off the track towards permanent vocal damage now?

Well, what progress? This performance was progress? I don't ever remember her messing up the Bb4-C5 range, so this really isn't progress as much as it muscle memory. Progress would be if she began to support herself above C#5 again. I don't keep up with Hyorin at all..so I don't know what she's been doing lately. And honestly I can't answer your question.

2. You should have asked something.

My timestamps are for this video
https://youtube.com/watch?v=htK9BpzTLuI

1:31 resonant Bb4?
2:18 C5 tension? :rlytearpls:
The difference in 3:06-3:11 :rlytearpls:

That airy falsetto is so itchy :rlytearpls:

I feel like this guest ate Hyorin's alive, and she can use headvoice :rlytearpls:

Oh my Hyorin. :rlytearpls:

3:07....that was such a mess lool

So I actually watched the whole thing and in this range Hyorin did really well she was very open and had some really nice resonant moments, so really even with this new found rating she's still at like the top of the pack. 1;31 Yes, that Bb4 was resonant good job~ 2:18 was actually a B4 I believe and there wasn't tension why did you think that?

Im pretty sure Hyorin hit a resonant D5. She did really well. She is clearly getting her voice back.

Do you have a time stamp?

3. yeah! I was asking because it sounded better than here 3:38 (sounds really flat lol) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mbdHHv6yV8 but not like the studio version. It's a strained head voice, isn't it?

I also would like to ask about when you guys say "able to produce a connected head voice" you guys use the word connected just to emphasize the fact that it's a head voice and not a falsetto right, because a head voice can't be disconnected

No, that's not head voice..well it could be just a really weak one similar to like Tiffany, lacking in development. Honestly, you would have to ask Matheus about that because that's more of his thing than mine. I believe it's how well the vocalist switch back and forth between their head voice hence why it's connected. Take Sohyang for example; she can easily go back and forth between head voice and essentially any part of her voice where as someone like Tiffany there's like this slight hesitation almost like a "crack" more of click sound really. Sort of like when a guy switches into his falsetto. I believe that's what he's getting or what that means..but I would ask him.

4. was 3:41 flat again?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3m89jMhv4w

She's having some trouble hitting notes in the 6th octave lol

Yeah it was a little bit flat..I mean she was trying to attempt C#6/D6 or something...like that's really high lol. Many sopranos have difficulty in that area.

5. Can I ask who're next in line for the analysis? I love the effort that you guys done but I can't help but think that you guys kinda had a pattern. After the bomb december update, the ones who are given analysis are like average at most, then after that the ones who are next are people who're not that active in the industry. Not that it's bad, it's just an observation on mine.

There really isn't a pattern...well Matheus may have a pattern...I don't. The reason why so many average people have been analyzed lately is because we needed them. We had more people in the Average to Above Average or Above Average than in the Average area which was a problem..because the Average should have the most people.

6. What do you guys think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1SgpvkdNLU

I feel this was just asked about not too long ago, but I didn't watch it so whatever. Surprisingly she didn't do terribly, not that i expected her to completely flop, I just wasn't expecting this. She has some support so when she sings there is a foundation for her voice to rely on, however it's not a very strong and connected support; it's shallow. She has this slight tension which I feel is a combination of throat and tongue tension neither is completely relaxed so it's constricting her projection. The highest she goes is C5 I believe and the aren't terrible there definitely is some larynx lifting and tension, but it's not 100% strain which is a good thing. She's also mixing fairly lightly on the top notes so that makes it either on her vocally. I must say her pitch is pretty good.

7. Where? Performances on and off like Dana?
I thought aly was saying "Asked yourself before posting, is this something she usually does".
I know her mixed notes being non nasal isnt new, but I her big mini world performance sounds not too far to the level of the "on and off" that dana has (i dont know if this is a reach). Like to me the consistency (even though it wasnt consistent) that she was non nasal in that big mini world performance is rare feat for her to me. I always thought Jessica was usually just 2 or 3 non nasal notes here and there, or a few words that are non nasal at most. She's more consistent in these two performances than probably 95% or at least 90% of any her performances. Even resonance on any note below C5 is rare for her. It just sounds like she's working on it.
I thought you prefered to talk about improvement in consistency more than a new moment. Even if Jessica resonates a C5 like she has done a few times before, it wouldnt necessarily/automatically make her AA. There's still things she needs to expect her to acheive and work on before that. Like consistency in her general placement before even consistency on her resonance below C5. She cant even consistently support C5. Then we can start expecting C5s as improvement. Say in like 3 years Jess has 3 resonant C5s (which probably is the case with her) which doesnt really mean much. That totally means nothing, even her something like 10 supported D5s dont mean anything to her rating.
You told me improvement takes little steps. Like should I send you material of myself when I start properly supporting? No, wouldnt you like to hear me have some improvement with control and consistency before doing so?
I dont know im, tired im gonna go to sleep. Because im tired, If im talking just rubbish then please respond with "NOPE" so ill just submit. You shouldnt have to deal with my crap
yeah then i got checked and I agreed.

I'm not going to lie..you're getting on my nerves. The way you've been aggressively posting about Jessica these past couple of weeks you would think you're the only person paying attention to her and you're not. It's like you have this mentality that if you don't post about it it's going to go unnoticed even though everything she's doing is fairly normal it's not impressive; it doesn't change anything. It's like if I were to post a video of Taeyeon just supporting C5s, yeah, good for her..but they could be better, it's normal, it's average and so is Jessica lifting her soft palate on a B4. Give or take she's lifting her soft palate on a few notes, but it's not changing anything. She's still supporting B4, but with a risen soft palate sometimes. Yay for her she's lifting the palate, but it's not groundbreaking. I guess what I'm trying to say..is that..unless she's REALLY doing something different than before don't post it.

8. Ohk, I dont know, But Jessica is improving with her consistency with her placement.

There was that FLY performance since seoul where almost all her B4s were non nasal

And this performance

from

1:03

1:57 the A4

2:22-2:24 (the F4-G4-A4 triad before the sustained C5)

2:26-2:29

2:31-2:34

2:36-2:39

2:41-2:52 (12 SECONDS)

Literally 25 seconds of non nasality in a performance

Yay? Now if only it was 3 minutes and 16 seconds of no nasality..

9. Damn thats a chesty crack tho

but that suggests an inconsistency which she is proving otherwise. And its not just lucky days, she is doing it every performance.
Ive written my piece about it in the KVAB. So just read it there.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean she's inconsistent, I do that for everybody..literally everyone. G3-B4/C5 implies she has it 100% of the time and without error and I personally don't believe that's possible so having it G3/G#3 allows room for error and has nothing to really do with consistency. I even have Sohyang C6/C#6 and I've never heard her strain a C#6, it's just that's the top of her supported range so it could potentially have inconsistencies. I would have preferred if you had mentioned it to me here instead of posting there because I have a legit reason as to why I do that.
10. Okay guys, I'm putting a cap on these Jessica performances. Yes, it's been forever since she has actively been performing live, but all of these video questions are getting a bit much especially because she's not doing anything besides being consistent with what she was doing a year ago. So, if you are going to ask a question really ask yourself "Is this any different than what she has been doing?" Thank you.

11. OMG so Jessica was hitting D3s @0:30. 0:47, 1:37, 1:40, 1:58 in her Thai cover song in her Thai fanmeet. She hits several other F3s here as well.

Her G3s here seem consistently supported like at 0:57,1:43, 2:08

I hope we can put her lower range to consistently be supported down to G3 now since her consistency seems to be improving quite a bit.

Ok, I this isnt a check-a-Jessica-note question, but what did she do here at 0:57? It sounds really weird. Like what was the issue? Is it tongue tension or is it a glottal attack?

We've already put her supported range down to G3..which is why it says G3/G#3~B4/C5..

She cracked..

12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=191&v=ofeFW-brmF4

How did tzuyu do? Jihyo didn't really do well, it's a bad performance in her standards, and nayeon is just speaking the chorus...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofeFW-brmF4

1:18-1:23 and 2:19-2:25

She didn't do anything impressive at all, that's a very simple vocal line. The transition in the 1st line was better than the 2nd, she was flat the 2nd time. I don't mean to sound rude, but this really wasn't a question that needed to be asked because she's singing a vocal line that requires very minimal skill..she's neither singing high nor low she's essentially in her speaking range.

13. How did Hyorin do? (pretty short) 1:12 / 2:53 / 3:34

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3gi2DfGEYg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjzeN5xpR_I

1:11 / 3:24

The first one isn't live she's lipsyncing to a track, and in the second video she's singing A4 and G4...they're fine.
