  1. From the darkhorse batch, Chiayi and Cheukying may be the safest bet because they Taiwanese and Hongkongese respectively. Not to say there aren't idols who supported the Chinese invasion of Korea in the Korean War from these regions (Chen Hsinwei), it's simply more likely that they haven't internalized CCP political views compared to other trainees. However, Xiaoting and Xingqiao are the most popular now.
  2. Still. Sparkling water is for when I don't want water, but I don't want unnecessary calories in my day either.
  3. I'm out of the loop, what's the anti-US aid controversy? EDIT: Nevermind I found it https://hallyucentral.com/news/mnets-girls-planet-999-chinese-trainees-face-backlash-after-posts-resurface/
  4. Kang Yeseo went viral in China and Korea for her visuals too, and she is stable enough live, it’s not unlikely she is a MNet favorite already. So far, MNet’s favorites seem to be Ezaki Hikaru, Kawaguchi Yurina and Sakamoto Mashiro from the J-line, Baby Monster group from the K-line, especially Kang Yeseo, and I’m not quite sure from the C-line. Chen Hsinwei I wonder about the most. MNet likes her visuals but not her skills, will they let her debut?
  5. I stand corrected. MNet made it worse with their cuts, but she actually did pick on Yujin for no reason. Wow. We have a villain who wants to be a villain, let’s fucking goooo
  6. We who are more mentally stable can tell what she should do, but she is not mentally stable so our worldview does not apply. In reality it's a Catch-22 case. Social media is making her mental illness worse because of the harassment she receives, but social media is also her only support network, because her family have their own issues, so no one can be there for her. Random people on the internet who tell her nice things have become the only people can rely on to survive and that's awful. A better social worker would have proposed her to write her negative feelings, especially her hatred, on a journal rather than social media, because social workers usually realize that writing bad things about others will only backfire for obvious reasons (for example, we can tell blaming Jimin for her state will not solve her problems, it will make them worse, but she is not mentally well to understand that), yet simply talking or writing down negative things helps relieve from them too. However, Korean mental health services do not seem well-developed. They should not let her do this, they should guide her. She is simply unable to because of that catch-22 case.
  7. DCinside poll Kang Yeseo and Huang Xingqiao are the top visuals, no wonder they rank like this. EDIT: Another one, this time with way more voters, results are pretty similar though
  8. I’m gonna say it’s typical MNet evil editing with all the reaction cuts and everything falling into place. That doesn’t mean she isn’t cringy though, not only the diss is pretty weak, this is a sure way to destroy a career without even starting it.
  9. I really hope she gets the help she needs, it has been agonizing seeing her crumble in social media and not being able to do anything.
  10. Health always comes first. She is talented and has done wonders in her field, and nobody is entitled to be mad at the fact she dropped out. She deserves to be healthy and happy first and foremost. The media has been absolutely cruel to her before her participation, they should have left her alone.
  11. Really? Can you link it please? I can't navigate that damn site
  12. Vaccinated, I keep one with me but only wear in areas that still require it or businesses ran by old people.
  13. Keep in mind that YouTube views measure Western popularity, not general popularity. For example, Kang Yeseo is not even top 5 for Western fans, but she has reached Sakura level hype in Weibo.
  14. I remember a time when all concepts in this post beside Red Velvet and BlackPink’s were considered cute concepts and everyone hated them because they were all the same. Now, people claim they are more diverse. Every generation there will be people who sees diversity of styles in genres they like, but don’t see that in genres they don’t like.
  15. In older gens, yeah, because Kpop back then was not as selective as now, so average people and high visuals meshed together. Now, it’s like everyone is the visual of their group, so what surprises me the most is that people are how are people able to pick one out of many as the most appealing to them?
  16. The only thing consistent about this whole story is that Mina is extremely mentally unwell and the help she is getting is clearly not enough. She is publicly making decisions mentally healthy people don’t make, and her worldview seems skewed at the very least, which is understandable as this is an effect of having fucked up brain chemistry, but it’s harmful for other people to take at face value. But it’s not helpful for anyone to turn against her because she has shown not to be a perfect angelic victim as in movies, rather one who is showing the real ugly side of what mental illness can do to a person’s personality and how it destroys personal relationships. The best thing anyone can do is support her getting treatment without accepting everything she says and not demonizing other people.
  17. People like him need to be kept off the spotlight and in the therapist office. The more attention and backlash they get, the more they will double down on their decision. Wanting to look a different race to the point one undergoes plastic surgery for it is certainly a form of dysmorphia, but no, it has nothing to do with being part of LGBT+ community. Being Korean is neither a gender, nor a sexuality, nor a romantic affiliation. It’s an ethnicity and nationality, and he is neither of them. What he is, is mentally ill.
  18. Regardless what you think of this casting, you cannot pretend there is nothing German in the original simply because you didn’t know what German culture is like. For example, yodeling is traditional German music: If you want to talk about the casting though, let’s be honest, Hollywood, and especially Disney, have a history of including PoC in originally white roles when they expect the movie to suck, and whitewash PoC when they expect the movie to be a success. It’s a well known problem that PoC directors and writers talk about, so take the changes as a bad sign, not as a progressive victory. Sure, it might turn out to be good too, but the chances are against it. Hope for the best, but expect the worst.
  19. They had how long to think this one out? 4-5 months? Go bankrupt DSP, you deserve it.
  20. So it’s basically what I said here, the only really new thing to come up is that April didn’t know about the suicide attempt, which I’m willing to give them the benefit of doubt, because it does explain behavior that previously sounded outright psychopathic as mere ignorance. It doesn’t justify it, as the hate from them towards her is still pretty obvious, but it does explain it that it’s not complete lack of empathy from them.
  21. None right now, but Brave Girls are fighting hard for that title.
