I'm a lesbian, not bi, but yes yes yes to what you're saying. I live in a super accepting country where gay marriage has been legal for 10+ years, but it still took me until I was 17 to know I was a lesbian for sure. My parents had been telling me they didn't care whether I took home a boy or a girl for years (like they'd also tell my brother), but because so many things were still so heteronormative I never caught on. People would ask me when I'd get a boyfriend, if there were any boys in my class that were cute, whether I liked this or that handsome actor and I just never really 'got' it. I didn't know why I didn't like boys as much as my friends did and when I asked people about it they'd tell me that interest in men would come when I got older, after puberty etc. When I was twelve my phone was full of VS Angels photos for God's sake. I have a ton of memories of staring at pretty girls as a kid lmao, the fact that I never caught on to being a lesbian was because it was never really brought forward as an option. Until I had this class in high school where one of our intern teachers talked about being a lesbian herself, and then I started thinking 'goddamn, that sounds like me'. Even then it took me years to be sure, because every time I thought of a guy being handsome it made me wonder, does this mean I'm also attracted to men (despite having no interest in them other than that)? Because it's presented as the standard, it's so easy to follow it in your mind without even taking notice.

Re: the male gaze thing-y (if you're not 18 don't read because I'm too lazy to put a cut), but I feel like it is a problem. Unpopular opinion maybe, but here I go. I don't think it's a problem that men put out w/w content that they too find arousing, and just like you said I feel like gay women can definitely find that content arousing. I think the problem of people from the lesbian community with the male gaze is that it's often the only thing that is represented in mainstream media of lesbians (and can therefore also influence how straight people see lesbians, lesbian sex and attraction etc, which is odd because why would straight people define what gay people feel?). Take porn for example. Now you may find of porn whatever you like, but many people still consume it. However, looking for lesbian porn is, for me at least, a disaster. Most of it is made by men, for men, and it shows. Two ~lesbians sucking on a dildo doesn't do it for me. I don't have a dick. Scissoring is.. whatever. I think not all gay women do it, but honestly it's just another way to be intimate? And I don't think it's right to say NO LESBIANS DO IT EVER because there are so many different ways for women to be intimate, that's just silly. But one thing I always use as an example as to why the male gaze is so prevalent in the depiction of w/w sexuality is that there's almost never a butch lesbian involved. Ever. Not in films, not in porn even. Why? Because most men don't find butches attractive, and they don't want to see a depiction of lesbian sex that isn't pleasing to them. I'm a femme myself and I'm more attracted to femmes as well (though I love me a sexy butch!!!), but there are so many gay women into butches, if they were the ones making porn they would definitely be there. So there. @ the Handmaiden though, it's definitely one of my favourite films of all time. I found some scenes arousing, others less (like the bathtub scene and the scene where they play 'the count would do ____' game were both very... phew ) but the sex scenes being so odd and cliché in some ways is just part of Park Chan Wook's artistry, showing the love between the two women. I go into his films expecting it to be a wild ride lol, so I actually thought some of the scenes were very tame.

Honestly the moment that made me sure Jackson is into men was at that traveling variety show with Andreas (of another variety show, and a Greek God of a man) and he basically pestered him into showing his abs and then slowly /stroked/ his abs. Can't find the gif because I'm on mobile but honestly... what straight man does that lmao? I know some guys look at muscular men if they're into fitness/bodybuilding, but really... that was on another level.

On another note though.. I feel so sad for idols that are gay. It must suck living in a society that's so heteronormative, where you can't even date openly. I really want to wish them all the best.. imagine being stuck with a bandmate who's very homophobic or smth. I know it would get to me. Life is already hard enough without being denied the right to love.

That's why I'm not sure about the couple thing too, but I definitely think there are people who are 'hiding in plain sight'. Take Heechul for example. Guy talks about his gay rumours, jokes about dating men, does a TON of fanservice/skinship with his bandmates which are quite extreme even for kpop (like him kissing Sungmin). On Knowing Brothers the others constantly compare him to women and make nudge nudge wink wink jokes about him and his relationships to men. Then he throws in the occassional comment about an actress or smth and everyone simply accepts that this makes him straight.

Returning to BTS because how could they not? When the turn for Hoseok comes to speak, he first gives a joking answer, saying the two MCs are his ideal type (FeiFei and Jia of Miss A and ZhouMi of Suju-M are the MCs). Suga then jokingly says, 'Zhou Mi?'. Zhou Mi even says 'Oh, so that's his orientation'. Even though everybody laughs and treats it as a joke, Hoseok doesn't deny it or goes all #nohomo like I imagine other idols might. This might not prove he's gay, but... I thought it was interesting. Has Hoseok ever given any clear indication of interest in women? I know he knew that fitness instructor who became viral for basically being hot lol, but idk about anything else. Also interesting because I know ZhouMi has had some rumours in the past, but I've heard rumours of him being with female actresses too. They both ping for me.

Do some of you think they might be 'hiding in plain sight'? I mean, I don't really believe in idol ships usually, but their moments are REALLY something else... and it screams more than just really close friendship too, for me. Like it's different from Hwasa and WheeIn's interactions. For me Moonbyul is 100% gay at least, along with Heechul she's one of the people in kpop who I'm sure is gay lol.
