Hello everything, I've created this account just a while ago, I've been lurking around for months now, and I decided to create an account for the comeback !
I'm still surprise by the fact that I stan Twice, because I've never been very interested in any other groups as I am right now with Twice. However, I don't want and don't like to be delusional, and there is always a part of rationality that keeps me objective about their music.
What I think about this comeback :
Actually, when I first listened to the song, I was a little bit disappointed by the fact that the dance break wasn't as explosive as it was in Like OOH-AHH and lot of unexpected stuff. However, after the third listening, oh man, that was done, the chorus stuck in my head. Then, I lurked on some sites, and OH, and I was surprised by the mixed reviews (sometimes harsh). I don't know, I've listened to the song with my headphones on to catch every single detail of the music, and I still like it and didn't found that much unstructured, the different instrumentals suits each other well.
So, I've asked to some friends what they think about the music, some say they like it, and prefer Cheer up to Like OOH-AHH, some doesn't like it because it doesn't suit their personal taste (not because the song is bad), so I asked them "do you think they can't sing, or the singing is not good enough ?", they all said that they sing well, not extraordinary, but they surely can sing. So yeah, it all depends on personal taste, but, I think that we can agree that this music is catchy and YES, they can sing.
About Twice popularity :
From what I've witnessed, there are great indicators about a group popularity and longevity and I think that Twice will become a very big girl group for the next generation (if their next comeback do well and JYP don't send them elsewhere but promote them as good as they are right now). For me, Like OOH-AHH is a HIT, why ? Because, it impact Korea, when you watch some variety shows, you can hear Like OOH-AHH quite often, plus, they sold 1M+ digitally and for me, selling 1M+ nowadays is quite hard because of streaming, and I consider every song 1M+ as a success. What I noted as well, is that asiatics and Korean people are not as occidentals people are, in western pop, there are a lot of One Hit singers, but, in Korea, when a song do very well, people are still interested in the artist, idol (and even longer if they keep being super active). Every group that hit big with a song, the next one will follow the same path (except if there's a huge huge scandal about them and shade their image). And this is what I expect for Twice, I am confident about the fact that they will win #1 and become a big name in Kpop. Because, they have fandom (that grows very fast), album/digital sells, recognition and popularity (that all can be seen in how many CF they snatch from left and right).
Moreover, I think this is really a smart move from JYP, that they didn't do an overload cutie concept (which I hate so much) but a cute yet fierce concept (I mean, the dance break in Like OOH-AHH slayed me so hard, that I had to replay it several times), because the first impression is important to know what type of girl group you are. So, the ambivalence of Twice is one of their strength, because they can go from a cute concept (Like OOH-AHH, Me Gustas Tu in the special show) to a mature concept (TEPL dance with Momo, Sana, Mina and Nayeon SLAYED ME), and I will finish my argumentation, with the fact that, I've never seen a group that grows so fast in the span of seven freaking months.
So yeah, this is what I think about Twice, and my opinion about some stuff that I've read on sites. I know that it's a long text, but I wanted to say what I think
