Which male idols do you think are gay?
raspberry84 replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I always set my expectations low when people say that something is explicitly gay but damn...there is no heterosexual explanation for this. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
raspberry84 replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Can we not with this never-ending trend of someone posting something shippy and then a multiple posts complaining about something shippy being posted. It's such a waste of time and effort and actual posts always get lost in the mix. If you don't like a post because you find it shippy, give it a reaction and move on. Or better, post something that you think is on topic for thread. Also no one was arguing, someone posted their speculation and two people responded respectfully about why they disagreed and didn't think anything should be read into it. Nothing worth complaining about tbh. -
What age gap do you consider acceptable between 2 adults?
raspberry84 replied to hynapia's topic in Random
Stop. She would be considered a legal adult in the United States and would be able to consent to dating, living with or even marrying him. That is just facts. Your example of "minor" being used for 18-20 years old is only in the context of alcohol and tobacco. You're cherry picking this to make it look like she wouldn't be considered an adult in the US when, like I said above, she could legally marry him here and there would be nothing illegal about their relationship. -

raspberry84 replied to hynapia's topic in Random
To clarify, you are a legal adult in the United States at 18. There is no "full" or "partial" adult status, it's a status you have or you don't. Clubs and bars can allow you entry and do on certain nights (usually "college nights"). When I was in college there were plenty of places that let you in at 18, you usually just had to pay a hefty cover charge. The main reason for 21+ in clubs is because they make their money off of people buying alcoholic drinks and this way they don't have to worry about serving to minors. As far as the 21 age restriction, that has nothing to do with whether or not you are legally considered an adult (you are at 18). They're put in place mostly to lower the access of minors (under 18) to these products. -
is it wrong to speculate someone's sexual orientation?
raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
...again, I don't find speculating that it's a cover to be disrespectful like you do. What about that are you not understanding? And you did was when you stated it was a fact that Heechul was straight. That's not stating an opinion, it was presenting it as factual. -

I did, I stated that it was your opinion that this was disrespectful and not fact. If you find it disrespectful you don't need to participate in the thread but people can make their own choices. Stop trying to control the actions of others and force your opinion as fact. Personally, I don't have an issue with that type of speculation even if i don't agree with it. It's not disrespectful imo. -

raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
That's your opinion. No one is forcing you to read or participate in that thread. No one needs your permission to speculate about it. I'm mostly just here to call out you being a hypocrite cause you forced heterosexuality onto him because he's dating a girl but complained about others speculating. -

raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
Everyone can go and read your post and draw their own conclusions. It's still up, stating as fact that Heechul is straight and condemning anyone who speculated otherwise. And like I said, study your history. It's not unheard of for people to fake a relationship to cover their sexuality and used to be very common. Not saying I agree with that happening here but that speculation is based on things that have happened in the past. It's not the full level of delusional you implied. -

raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
You'd have an argument here if your post was about accepting that he was dating and attracted to Momo. It wasn't. Your post was clearly stating that Heechul should be viewed as straight because he was dating a female. It was never about whether or not he was attracted to girls, it was about saying he was straight. You said "Can't you accept the fact that he is straight." You can backtrack now but you forced a sexuality onto him but then came here to condemn people for speculating. Even in your correction here you are assuming and speculating he is straight. Like stop throwing rocks in glass houses. -
is it wrong to speculate someone's sexual orientation?
raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
All I'm gonna say is people fought and literally died to earn you the privilege of being out and saying it's not a big deal. It wasn't that long ago that being gay would get you put in asylums because you were "mentally ill." It wasn't that long ago that you could be arrested for being gay and thrown in jail for it. No one is being treated as special as for being LGBT when in the vast majority of the world people in this community don't even have equal rights. I'm sorry, but this is insanely disrespectful to the people who fought for the rights you take for granted. Learn your history. -

So instead of addressing the fact that people shouldn't be bullied for being gay and focus in stopping that homophobic harassment we should, what, pretend gay people exist? Make it a secret so they're not targeted? -

You came into the thread, told us that Heechul was straight (forcing a sexuality on him) and said "idols couldn't catch a break" cause we acknowledge the homophobia in Korea's culture and how they have to present as straight to have a career. I get the feeling you just wanted people to tell you that you were right since you didn't get the reaction you wanted in the thread. Why? Is there something wrong with being LGBT? Why is it rude to say someone might be? Do you have the same reaction when someone is assumed straight? -
is it wrong to speculate someone's sexual orientation?
raspberry84 replied to pinkpanda_spirit's topic in Random
There is difference between speculating a celebrity might not be straight, forcing someone into confirming their sexuality and forcing a sexuality on them. The straight by default is forcing a sexuality onto them and sadly that is the most common thing that happens. Saying "I think this person might be gay or bi" is speculating and harmless. Since there is nothing wrong with being a member of the LGBT community, saying you think a person might be part of it isn't a bad thing. Now, forcing people out or asking them their sexuality goes beyond speculation. At that point you are forcing them to identify their sexuality and that's no good. No one should be force to say what their sexuality is. Especially since that could force people who are LGBT into either outing themselves or lying about it to protect themselves. Like I said in my response to you in the gay thread, you're ignoring a lot of history and were forcing a sexuality on Heechul by saying he was confirmed straight because he was dating Momo. That only confirmed he was attracted to females, not that he wasn't possibly bi or pan. -

Or he was being professional and didn't want to say something mean about them on air. Cause, you know, that would be the respectful and professional thing to do. And have you had a job? Co-workers have personal conversations all the time, often ones they would not have in front of customers, clients, etc. That's normal. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
raspberry84 replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Bisexuality and pansexuality are actual things. Heechul dating Momo, going on the assumption that it's real, only shows that he is attracted to females. It does not show that he isn't also attracted to men. So one, please don't compare speculation that someone might be gay, bi, pan, etc. to people who use their institutionalized power to discriminate against, attack and kill LGBT people. It's super, super vile. And two, we live in a world where coming out can be dangerous and put our careers at risk. If you ask my co-workers, I'm 100% straight and have stated that. It's a full out lie but one I have to make to protect my job because I can be fired in my state for being a lesbian. So no, public statements don't mean much when we live in a homophobic society. So bringing that very real, very relevant fact into a discussion is not delusional. It's realistic. Some of y'all are forgetting your history and it shows. -

You're really gonna double down on that super bad analogy? Edit: Why do I feel like this is a breath away from getting super racist... -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
raspberry84 replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
Correction, there is one active idol who is openly gay and that's Holland. Someone who gets talked about here alot. Also no one is spending hours speculating, most people post here once a day or less. That's a small amount of time commenting on idols that they are interested to or to comment on things they found was suspect. You're the one taking time to come here and tell us we're sad because we speculate and look for representation in the media we consume. Your "black kpop fans" thing also shows your kinda out of touch with minority groups and discussions of representation. There have been many, many discussions about representation in kpop, cultural appropriation and racism within the industry by black kpop fans. It's a pretty active, engaging and interesting discussion if you would ever take the opportunity to listen to it. Not to mention a lot of talk about how heavily it draws on their music but wouldn't be accepting of black artists in KPop so...maybe find a better analogy. -

If they've both met as adults then I think it's their decision if it'll work or not. You run into problems when they knew each other when one party was a child or under-18 teenager. -
Which male idols do you think are gay?
raspberry84 replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
You said, and I quote, "Also my life is full enough that I'm a gay guy who can stan male idols without worrying about whether or not they're gay so i can relate to them cause i have more things about me than my sexuality, sad not everyone has that." So stop with the backtracking, right there you said it was sad for people to care about whether or not their favorites idols were part of the same community. Even here you're saying that if we want "gay representation" we should go elsewhere to stan openly LGBT artists...which is weird, like you're acting like LGBT artists are this niche genre and if we want representation we should go there for it. If you are a fan of kpop and listen to kpop then it makes sense to want that representation in kpop since that is some of the media you consume. Edit: Also just saw your comment about how most LGBT people think we're insane...hun, I don't know who the fuck you hang out with but I don't have a single LGBT friend who I haven't heard speculate about some celebs sexuality. Honestly, kinda weirder if you haven't. Although since your "sexuality doesn't define you" and don't take issue with insulting people from your own community for wanting representation, you probably aren't big into the actual LGBT community. -

Are you really going to be that person who insults other members of their community because you don't personally get anything out of representation. You can have a full, successful life and still need and appreciate representation in your media. Stop looking down on other members of the LGBT community and thinking you're better cause representation isn't important to you. -

raspberry84 replied to bottomluhan's topic in Random
I can't speak for straight people but I feel like for some people in the LGBT community that representation is important and they may notice things that they can relate to. With straight people speculation...it's always a breath away from becoming a fetishization thing. -

1) Yikes at this bi-erasure. I questioned the relationship simply because of the whole stalker relationship, not because I thought it was impossible for Heechul to date a girl. Not to mention the fact that Heechul seemed to have a boyfriend, not that Momo is a girl. 2) Can we not with this "Heechul is a predator" thing because he's dating another consenting adult. It's nagl. -

This is one of the reasons why I'm not fully convinced it's fake. Losing someone you were close to has a huge impact on people and everyone responds to that differently. -

Throwing it out there but bearding does happen and usually requires the two faking a relationship. It's why people in Hollywood use to actually marry each other.
