I studied marketing in uni and I still think the shoot is silly and I think that's my right to think so, so you don't have to explain things to me because it won't change my mind? Again, nothing against her and like commentators said, people did contact lenses CFs without wearing them, which is even sillier so it's not that deep.
well I don't care if she wears it or not it's not like most people actually buy something after looking at a CF you said you studied marketing have you worked or have experience in marketing tho? cause there's a difference between studying vs putting that studying in practice getting a job done on targeted time or achieving target sales as for CFs most costumers don't really care I think how the shop displays it product and the presentation more useful, I am not a marketing person but I worked in clothing/accessory stores and sold stuff we had CF things and photoshoots hanging everywhere that people barely care about even a popular brand model/designer came once to represent his brand but again most customers don't have interest in that they just wanna know the brand have a look give it a try and perhaps purchase so then its my job as sales person to convince the customers or attract the customers.

Keep heariing lots of bad things about the management of AKB48.
well I can't speak for Japanese fans but at least for International fans we try to speak against a lot of shit, I find a lot of adult Japanese fans "fans in their 30s, 40s, 50s" to be just too accepting or sympathetic towards the agencies or maybe they're just conservatives themselves idk but do came across a lot of their comments be like "hey just work a bit harder make sure your makeup is done right and do better on sns etc.."
they will hire the likes of her, the whole idea here is to sell some kind of drama or storyline "look this women managed to go against all the odds" to attract more fans who sympathize with her.
i can already tell from looking at the pics it's very old school AKB stuff, that's like old school version of things like survival shows/PD101
5 hours ago, My Everything said:4. Aren't normal fans looking at this going to get mad at the company for doing this? The way that they think that this is a normal thing for idols to do just shows you the gender disparity reality there. They're an upgraded version of our country, but in a bad way
there's always two sides fighting but unfortunately the big agencies & their right wing fans/supporters are powerful af.

This is the actual video subbed in English. Naeun's mother's parts at 00:27, 05:00, 09:03 and 14:21.
I would have had a Completely different reaction watching the video without knowing about the bullying scandal and parents involved but since I know and then watched this video I can't sense anything sincere or genuine in it
it's felt like watching a scene from a kdrama of a lovey dovey relationship of a bully & her mom with the Daughter being like hey girl can you see how much i love my mom & how much she loves me? watch out

I feel like there's a lot more crime nowadays!
Spoilerthe recent kidnapping murder case in Kuwait also got my attention, refer to Current News & Events section for the thread

this is disturbing af, you can hear the kids crying in the back, nobody knows the sequence of those videos.
I also read that he has Military background and was abusing his power to stalk the victim and follow her around.

if the mom was a bully herself when she was younger.
I won't say she "was" she is still a bully in that video she's bullying someone therefore it's no longer a subject of her past younger days.
bullies don't always change after they become adults some of them remain bullies, the mom in this case looks like one of those

Victim had earlier filed 2 cases against perpetrator months ago but he was given bail.
The perpetrator, Fahad Subhi Mohammed, crashed into Akbar’s car, kidnapped her and her daughters (who were in the car with her) and stabbed Akbar in front of her daughter in the chest. He then drove her body to the hospital and fled.
"Yasmena Al Mulla, Correspondent"
Kuwait City: On Tuesday, a Kuwaiti woman, Farah Akbar, was gruesomely killed by a man who she had previously filed two cases against for kidnapping and attempted murder.
The perpetrator, Fahad Subhi Mohammed, crashed into Akbar’s car, kidnapped her and her daughters (who were in the car with her) and stabbed Akbar in front of her daughter in the chest. He then drove her body to the hospital and fled.
Video footage showed Akbar’s family members crying outside the hospital, screaming out, “This is what we get! We told you that he was going to kill her. And now he killed my sister.”
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior, stated that Mohammed confessed to the killing and was arrested. Akbar’s lawyer, Abdulmohsen Al Qattan, publicly stated that the killer is not and never was married to the Akbar and warned against circulating incorrect news.
No protection
Dana Akbar, the victim’s sister, shared a video on social media explaining that she filed two cases against the perpetrator on two separate occasions, and both times he was released on bail. She added that she warned the prosecutor multiple times that the man is a serious threat to her family.“Despite the fact that her sister went from one police station to another to file a complaint, nobody took her seriously. They let him walk. What excuse are they going to give now?” Dr. Shayma Shamo, founder of Lan Askat, a platform giving a voice to all victims of gender-based violence, told Gulf News.
Akbar’s killing sparked outrage on social media with many questioning how the killer was freed after he was charged with an attempted murder case. The hashtag ‘I am the next victim’ was trending on Twitter with many claiming the lack of protection against harassment and complaints about violence has created an unsafe space for women in Kuwait.
“What happened to Farah can happen to any of us. Her case, like many other killings, goes to show that the state has failed us as women,” Shamo said.
Repeated pattern
While Akbar’s death is a tragic loss, unfortunately she is one of many women who have lost their lives because of harassment that goes unpunished.Shamo receives numerous messages daily from women who have been harassed or who have received death threats. She explained that many have tried to report the perpetrator but the reply is always ‘we can not do anything’.
“These killings keep happening because of a combination of factors from institutional failure to the stigma around a woman walking into a police station to seek help as police stations are male-dominated spaces,” Abrar Al Shammari, a Kuwaiti activist and researcher, told Gulf News.
Also, many women have been killed at the hands of their own family members.
In December, Shaikha Al Ajmi, a guard at Kuwait’s parliament, was killed by her brother. A few months earlier in September, Fatima Al Ajmi, a pregnant woman, was shot dead by her brother inside the ICU. In 2019, Hajer Al Assi was shot by her brother who ended up receiving a 10-year sentence. In December 2018, Ghalia Al Dhaferi was stabbed by her brother and thrown in the desert, in order to frame her death as an accident to protect her brother.
Legislative action
On August 19, 2020, Kuwait’s parliament approved a domestic violence law, which set legal procedures to protect the well-being of the family. Although the law went into effect a month after it was passed in parliament, many have stated that having a law is one thing and implementing it is another.Article 2 of the family protection law stipulates that the state must take measures to protect victims of domestic violence.
“There is a counter argument that states that family issues are private and should not be handled by the state. But the state has a responsibility to protect individual lives, which are part of the family unit,” Al Shammari pointed out.
In addition, the law stipulates that a shelter needs to be established. Until now, there is no functioning state shelter to protect against domestic violence victims.
Breaking the cycle
Other than activating the shelter, Al Shammari believes that raising awareness and addressing the issue is necessary to break the taboo around harassment and violence. She added there is a need for more women in the police force and women should also be present at places of reporting, such as police stations, to lessen the stigma around seeking help.Shamo is using her platform to raise awareness about the issue of violence and harassment because “first and foremost we need a deep cultural shift in the way we treat victims and the way we react to their stories. We need to stop normalising violence and say ‘this is not acceptable’”.
Despite all the possible solutions to break the vicious cycle of women being murdered, Al Shammari stated, “There is a strong system in place that allows for these killings to happen and does not hold people accountable.”

The officer was already there and had his gun out from the start. If he had time to use the gun, he had time use a taser which I’m sure would’ve worked just fine. And even then, once would’ve been enough, not 4 times. While adding he could’ve aimed for her legs or any other non lethal areas to the body. But again, the girl had a small knife, he and the rest of the officers could’ve easily handled that without any weapons let alone deadly ones with repeated use towards critical areas of the body
She called them because she herself was the initial one in danger and was about to get jumped by two girls who approached her home. The Police have a higher standard on how to diffuse the situation compared to civilians
teaser won't always immediately work my friend but I agree 4 shoots were too much but non the less keep in mind the girl in pink was the SECOND girl she tried to stab, btw there are incidents of which the person kept fighting even after they were shot once.
the parents did nothing but watch them fight and her father was kicking the first girl in the head when she on the ground as the police walked in! looks like you missed that like what was her father doing???
I won't say officers could’ve easily handled that without any weapons bruh if he didn't pull the trigger girl in pink would have been stabbed for SURE and the second officer came after the shooting took place (watch the second officer body cam) they were not there together at the same time
it doesn't matter how small the knife is she could kill someone with razor blade let alone a knife.
lastly I don't think American police are that good..

There are adult male mass murderers with guns that got talked to and restrained by police. They could easily do that for a teenage girl with a knife, or at least use a taser. But they decided to shoot her, and multiple times at that as if once wouldn’t have been enough. So the guy involved knew what he was doing, and he is a pos who deserves to go to jail for that.
26 minutes ago, Lubbin said:Still doesn’t justify shooting a kid multiple times, at all
the body-cam video of the officer is out there on YouTube
a teaser doesn't always work and if its failed the girl in pink would've got stabbed, the officer screamed multiple times "get down, get down etc.." before pulling the trigger
the girl's father and several other males were around and all had the chance to try and stop the girl take her knife way before the police got out of their car but instead her father was kicking the back of the head of another girl who was down on the ground

not only idol boygroups, it applies normal boygroups as well, even if they never aim for females, its usually not their concious effort to get female fans for many of the groups, its just what happens in my view. Then they just act according to their fandom, so it always gives an image like they aim for female fans, girlfriend fans.
For metal rock etc, they have huge male base, but their fans are usually alot more mature at least most are from what i saw age wise. If we consider age wise, boygroups too interestingly have quite older male fans as well, usually around 50s to 60s in Korea, depending on their concept, I believe i saw them with Seventeen and Astro especially. So for me, its maturity level of fans, concept AND what other males sees boygroups, too many varying situations and not as simple as girlfriend idea.
idk if that's aKorean thing or its happens in certain places! I mean speaking for myself i have been a rock/metal fan since I was like 15 but the only western idol boy group I ever followed was Backstreet Boys and for Kpop it was 2pm
tbh I don't even bother looking up bg songs cause i just feel like it's much safer to just check out ggs releases for kpop almost like I am forcing myself to stay loyal to ggs for no real reason

Agree. The whole idea that female fans only stan because they see male idols as "boyfriends" is...the generalization is problematic in so many ways. And quite honestly sounds like something men tell themselves to justify why boy groups are so popular in Korea. I do agree to capture someone on a deeper level is important. However certain people seem to think girls/women can't like a boy group for deeper reasons other then wanting to be their "girlfriend".
idk if that's just Korean male thing but in other places what's hilarious is when you have girls only listen to female artists and men only listen to male artist so I can't tell you how many times men will ask why am I listening to a female artist as lmao or like some feel too shy to admit that they're listening to an artist from the apposite sex
but even then a guy listening to female artists is not that much of a problem but if a girl listens to male artist then people will start questioning her "oh she must like that type of men Haha" type thing

literally this
I disagree girlfriend comments, fans who believe girlfriend idea, are usually not allowed to spend more than what their parents give, you wouldnt get high sales with those alone lol but females are usually more loyal, both in real life and fandom life. This applies to western groups as well.
the only places of which you could find loyal male fans are in genres like Rock/Metal of which you could see a boy band followed by an ocean of male fans don't know why that doesn't happen with idol boy groups! but I guess it's as simple as idol bgs just don't target same sex fans

Sexism. Gender Roles. Male Privilege.
Men are able to build a dedicated fanbase of "girlfriends".
Women can't do this with the opposite sex quite as well.
SK is a male-dominated society, where many women are socialized to aspire to be a wife and a mother, and they wait to be "picked" by a man. In the relationship, the man leads, and the woman follows. This creates a culture where it is more expected for a young girl to be obsessive with a male celebrity, and not so much for a young boy and a female celebrity. Because the boy is supposed to have the power, obsessing over one girl is seen as uncool. Furthermore, women are objectified more and so their individualism is taken less seriously. When you fail to capture someone on a deeper level, it's less likely they will become a dedicated fan. So most of the men in Korea see girl groups are something to be enjoyed casually, not obsessively. They often do not engage with them further than "a pretty girl" or "a talented girl". Boy groups, on the other hand, often joke that they are dating their fans, and more often cultivate very loving, caring, protective fans. Due to misogyny, a girl group trying have a fandom of "boyfriends" would be criticized. Female idols are supposed to be waiting to be picked, not doing the picking.
I think this generation, girl groups are trying to appeal more to girls, but obviously most women are straight, and platonic interest is not as strong as romantic interest. And I suspect this is why we are seeing more queerbaiting amongst girl groups lately as well.
wasn't it 1st gen bgs that came up with I am married to my fans thing? lol
non the less ggs do great digitally & they seem to have more variety in comparison to bgs I don't how many bgs do Boy-crush or anything that targets same sex fans

[NB] Netizens debate Arin's lingerie advertisement "why isn't she wearing it?"

well I only look at it from business perspective so if a silly thing = sales job done, target achieved, deadline achieved..
Arin is a celebrity now if she wasn't a celebrity and she did the same thing that's would've been another story, but she's is popular/celebrity < I guess that what the marketing team were looking for just to get a bit of a boost for their brand name or something as you just said..
don't take it seriously I am not attacking your opinion just have a different opinion and my experience in the industry think about it like having an online meeting lol
