This guy has been receiving a lot of Korean fan hype recently. Wont be surprised if he climbs his way up if that fandom becomes dedicated.

Not stanning him or anything (tiptoe oppa stan here, he is my UB) but I can see Hoesung rising Yeunjung style. His vocal level is like Chungha's ability in dance, it will be hard to hide that.

P101 makes the unlikely possible but if the rules remain the same, we would end up with an amazing boyband.

Lmao its Park Jihoon and Bae Jinyoung here there and everywhere. Its amazing how these kids are strong with both kfans and ifans.

The crown icon means they are Rank A, in this group its Youngmin and Woojin who are the A boys aka most skilled members

The irony is they have to lose P101 for that to happen. It will be tough to get the equilibrium of reigniting popularity but not to the point of winning. I really dont know if thats achievable.

The whole NuEst situation is sad, maybe thats why Ren looks so downtrodden lately. If someone gets into the final group, NuEst is doomed (if their contracts end in 2019 then welp) If no one gets into the final group then they are still doomed as it means younger trainees who were nugus till recently outdid them. They seem to be stuck in a damned if you do damned if you dont situation here.

Sohye was in F so no screentime for her. She doesnt even get to sing or be onstage. There are rules for people sorted into F. a lot of the girls who got screentime in the previous Pick Me didnt make it either. So it goes both ways. None of the F girls last season had tons of fans pre broadcast either while this seasons most hyped guys are in F - a group that gets zero screentime for Pick Me as per the rules. But MNet even made an exception fkr Jang Moonbok so...

The thing with P101 though is its quite easy to pick out the final ranking since it is a popularity thing. You may not get the whole group right but it isnt that difficult to guess at least half correctly even before broadcast. It is due to this that I hope there are some good surprise underdogs this season to spice the show.

Guanlin has ifans support tho imho. It is him and tiptoe ajusshi who are always playing from 11-15 rank. How they will be shown on broadcast will have a huge effect if they make it to the final group or not just like how Nayoung and Yeunjung managed to but more popular bet Jelpi Nayoung slid to 14th. It is always those trainees who rank 11-20 that need to work doubly hard as a small change can have a massive effect in their situation.

Given a huge number of eventual IOI girls appeared on the Pick Me vid last year, a lot of the girls who also did failed to make it. Especially with this season having many popular F boys which was not the case with last season's girls. I feel MNet uses the Pick Me vid as a way of communicating who is their bet but a lot of the stan attractors are in F so in no way should they be in that vid. As a proof of how different this season is set to be, this rule was broken for F guy Jang Moonbok who had a lot of hype. They didnt even do that for Sohye last season. i personally think a better basis for pre broadcast hype was the outdoor greeting the trainees did prior to filming the Pick Me perf where they gave out handwritten stuff. A lot of the F guys really became bias wreckers there especially Haknyeon, Hyunbin and Jinyoung. Tiptoe ajusshi Sungwoo also trended after that. A lot of people picked faves from that moment. I personally am not a Sewoon fan but he is definitely among the Top 10 picks of Kfans for sure. I actually feel its the basic style that really became his appeal.

The girl was complaining that her solo lart didnt even seem like a center solo since ot happens while they were in a diagonal formation. P101 is all about the presence and xfactor. This is why you need to be a certain level of stan attractor. The rule is simple: be popular. Even getting dominant parts in perfs wont help if you lack presence. Also yes, Jihoon is in Maroo too (Kim Jongkook's agency)

The new boyband contract for the Top11 will require them to work EXCLUSIVELY for the P101 project boyband for almost 2 years. (18mos I think so till end of 2018) That kinda ensures NuEST till 2019 if evwn one of them wins a spot. This makes me think though. Ong Seungwoo, Kang Daniel and Samuel are more hyped in the i-fandom while the other boys on your list are hyped by BOTH the intl and kfans. Samuel might get the Carat support though and that could pull him up if they become dedicated to voting him. But those boys are more popular with ifans only. Boys supported by BOTH kfans and ifans are almost a shoo in now, especially bias wreckers who can put themselves on the top of the bias list of fans. Boys who appeal to only either might have to battle it out for the final slots in Top11. Example Ong Seungwoo is really strong with intl fans I see but in Korean portals its all about the ajusshi Park Sungwoo. Trainees like Jung Sewoon, Kim Donghan are also gaining hype in Korea. It will be the boys who have both ifan and kfan support who will easily be on top.

My fave part in P101 are the plot twists (which is rare but so good when it happens) like Pinky/Mina freefalling when voting rules changed, Chungha rising every ep, Sohyes surprising improvement, the Growl girls slaying, the sisterhoods they developed I liked it better than the petty centre fights MNet kinda overdid last season. Really wont be surprised if they push him. Heard he was the ace for the Be Mine avengers too as he performed really well and was the highlight of that stage skill-wise. I am sure the Be Mine avengers team will be getting highlighted screentime because 1. Oldest and youngest trainee (?) In this group. Park Sung Woo and Lee Woo Jin are 15 years apart. 2. Lee Woo Jin, the A guy in the team was sick but pulled through. I can see a hardworker, persevering narratove can be highlighted for him too. 3. Korean fans are saying Youngmin and Sungwoo will be the male versions of the Sejong-Sohye relationship in S1. There were tears after their stage too. 4. Kenta apparently had legit skills and the amazingness of his dance really upped the level of this stage. If those accounts are accurate then Kenta WILL get attention. This would certainly be one of the stages with an interesting backstory aside from the Boy in Luv avengers, Moonbook doing CMB and NuEst members doing Mansae.

The reality is personality and attractiveness are the biggest attribute with the format of P101. It isnt SMTM nor K-Pop Star where its about skill P101 is more about the it factor and being outstanding, which is why IOI rose to become such a powerhouse group despite being together for only 10 months.

Dont forget the iconic cutie Han Hyeri neomu neomu ttapttaphae moment lol, also Nayoung, Mina v other girls in Say My Name There was even a minor Yoojung v Hyeri evil edit towards the end of the season (when Yoojung revenged for Doyeon) In a way even Sejung got an evil edit for ignoring the coke mess and even smuggling food The reality is evil edits are bad but again, the best weapon is charm. If people love you and MNet has actual proof of that (votes, ratings, any tangible proof) then the odds ho lower. If you have strong support, even Mnet wont be able to push you out even with an evil edit. People were interested in Chanmi because of her narrative but she is not a stan attractor st all while Yeonjung gained fans with her belting in ITNW but not everyone gets that kind of moment.

Ladt season, this seemed to be the case seeing a lot of the CEOs didnt seem to be overjoyed when their trainees got into IOI during the finale night. the best strategy for a company who wants to win is to pull a Somi and send only one trainee. No worries. I learned Korean a as a kid more than a decade ago so happy to see its still kinda there but all the net slang is killing me. I personally dont follow Kpop as much anymore either but I always come out during Produce 101 lol. I get the feeling Sungwoo wil rank higher once airing begins. Even accounts of him during the stages kinda showcase his personality. Not only is he a visual but it seems he has a personality that is as good as his looks. I can imagine him trending even if the show highlights his mature, warm and beagle-like personality.

This kinda worries me. Given the whole China ban on Hallyu, I am sort of anxious if this would affect the screentime of the Yuehua boys given that market is a current no-go. Kpop also seems to be looking back into promoting in Japan again recently, which could benefit Takada Kenta in more ways than one. He might be highlighted more in the show which could up his chances of ranking higher.

Was just stating my opinion based from my browsing of sites where i-fans and k-fans discuss. The reality of P101 is that the Top 20 of the FIRST ranking announcement is crucial. All the eventual final winners will be in that ranking early on, it is rare that people make a drastic change in their ultimate faves (which will be really essential come voting rule change day) Just stating most of these early faves (Daehwi, Jihoon, Lai Guanlin, Ren, Hak Nyeon, Jin Young) especially the ones receiving massive love and developing a fandom are almost a shoo in already. There could be a couple of Yeunjung type of rises, but the oportunities are slim and limited (you have to be really skilled or have a world shattering narrative) I guess what I am trying to say is most people can ADD faves (as the broadcast pushes thru and we get to know the trainees) but the odds arent very high that they would CHANGE their ultimate faves which is still the dealbreaker when voting method changes. The Sohye type of candidates which eventually gains a stable fandom during broadcast is more of an exception to the rule and I assume most of her fans came from an audience who initially didnt have a fave chosen pre broadcast at all and only got sucked in as they followed the show. But even amongst IOI,its pretty much only her, Chungha and Yeunjung who had such narrative. I felt the Jelpi girls were still hyped last year. Looking at this ratio, majority of the slots will most likely be taken by candidates who had pre broadcast hype.

I hate to say this but the trainees themselves since they're involved in the show can have a unreliable intuition as they don't see it from the audience/fan perspective. Given they're trainees, they might assess each other more through visuals or talent, but we all know those two factors aren't just the contributors to being a stan attractor (see: Sohye...I'm sure no one saw it coming she'll be Top 10 until the votes were announced for first ranking)
