Click here to view the Tweet Lyrics: You got the best of me You got the best of me So please just don’t leave me You got the best of me You are my salvation, you are my window I just need to have you You got the best of me I need you So please just don’t leave me You got the best of me It rains on me It snows on me Halting all the unluckiness Bring me to heavens Don’t say that it’s easy There’s no me without you You are the best of me The best of me
  2. If I was J-Hope I'd be confused af too. Especially a group like them who really didn't have a viral, breakout hit. Their story is such an anomaly, I understand why they're confused. He must be thinking "Why only now, but not then?" I imagine even way past their peak, the whole BTS case study will still be regularly brought out and referenced years from now.
  3. Music-wise and performance-wise, they probably could - even to an extent, personality wise as well. But one major reason why BTS fans are so devoted was because they're such an underdog story and they literally were at the bottom of the barrel and rose to where they are now while facing obstacles & hardships with their fans. As a new fan but into K-Pop for quite a while, I've seen how their fans exerted the work to hard-carry BTS to where they are now. And these hardships are seen in the lyrics of the best BTS musical masterpieces - Road/Path, Born Singer, Tomorrow, Move, 2!3!, Young Forever, Dope, Attack on Bangtan, which made people more invested in their narrative as a group too. Big Hit can try to mimic the other factors but how do you reproduce the underdog story once again? The good thing is whoever the new boygroup will be probably won't have to experience being show fillers and will have pretty good attention when they debut.
  4. Seems you might be right. It could be so taken aback by how well they did this comeback (past comebacks were great as well, but this one was for the books even K-Pop wise) so they must be trying to figure out what is the exact reason that's causing people from all over the world to go crazy over BTS in such a humongous way. I've reached later pages of the survey and it seems they're also trying to figure out how intensely crazy we can get for them. I shamelessly checked "all day" when it asked me how much time I spend on them everyday. When you have seven boys to fawn over, there just isn't enough time.
  5. Sorting out through this sort of surveys was something I went through previously in another marketing role, I feel kind of sorry to the person who need to go through all these data and make an analysis. I really wonder what made Big Hit decide it's time to do a survey as this? Do you reckon they've figured out this comeback received a pretty polarizing response within the fandom hence they want actual data to determine their next steps for BTS? Plus they're currently at an all-time high, they must have wanted to be more careful with their following career moves. The survey is obviously only for fans, so their insights from here, especially the dominant opinions from this data gathering, will probably have a major impact on the upcoming actions of Big Hit and BTS. Edit: And as I was on page 6 Google crashed on me bye
  6. DNA really is that bitch, she holding tight - predicted to hang on 90s rank in the Hot100 (even if predictions were off, would still be high in the bubbling under) She did that with barely any US promo save for Spotify ads. SLAY. Makes me wonder how well BTS would do once they do US TV performances. Their stages are so entertaining and engaging, I can imagine people checking them out after. Anyway, I'm so excited about the upcoming Dome Concert. This is going to be huge for them. I wonder if they'll ever reach a point where they can guest on more mainstream Japanese TV shows too. MUSIC STATION PLS.
  7. Which is why I'm hoping this leap isn't coming from the US shipments. I wonder if the Best Buy ones that will be present at the physical stores will be counted to Hanteo?
  8. Who are BTS? 5 things to know about the Korean boy band storming pop music Graham Slaughter, CTVNews.ca Writer @grahamslaughter Published Friday, September 29, 2017 4:45AM EDT A stylish squad of good-looking dudes in their early twenties. An army of ravenous fans. Glittery pop music accompanied by pop-and-lock choreography. By all measures, pop group BTS has the ingredients to take North American charts by storm and become the next One Direction or Backstreet Boys, depending on your generation. The only difference: they don’t have a single English song – a fact that’s hardly slowed them down. Since the seven-member Korean pop group formed in 2013, it has launched into global mega-stardom and become impossible for the music industry to ignore. BTS quickly broke records with their latest electro-pop/rap album, “Love Yourself: Her,†which dropped in mid-September. Within days, the album became the highest-charting K-pop album ever on the Billboard 200, which measures album sales in the U.S. The accompanying music video for their latest single, “DNA,†dropped on Sept. 18 and – a feat that outstripped earlier records by the likes of Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry.Last May, BTS beat out Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez – the most followed star on Instagram – to win Top Social Artist at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The award was determined by the fans, and BTS’ self-proclaimed ARMY (an acronym for “Adorable Representative MC's for Youthâ€) cast a staggering 300 million online votes. Never heard of BTS? You’re not alone. It’s difficult for any K-pop band to break into U.S. and Canadian airwaves. But the group’s recent surge of momentum, largely driven by their passionate global fan base, has already pushed them into uncharted territory in North America media. As the band’s profile continues to rise, here are five things to know about BTS: Who are they? The band has seven members – slightly larger than your average five-man boy band. The group is divided into pop singers, Jimin, V, Jungkook and Jin, and rappers like Rap Monster, Suga and J-Hope. BTS is young, with their oldest member only 24 years old, and they all live together as roommates in Seoul. Known for their kaleidoscopic hair colours and gender-defying fashion, the band members regularly appear on South Korean television. Their social media accounts are frequently updated with photoshoots and interviews, and they’re frequently spotted around Seoul. Why are they such a big deal? Staying relevant in pop music requires constant reinvention, and pinpointing the reason behind an artist’s popularity can be like shooting a moving target. For BTS, commercial success has often been linked to the band’s broad appeal. They’re a boy band with slow and sappy love songs, like “Butterfly,†but also offer clubbier electro-rap tracks, like “DNA.†Their music has been compared to Canadian crooner Shawn Mendes and Scottish producer Calvin Harris. In a recent review, The New York Times wrote that, while BTS “is capable of the flamboyance and sometimes manic energy that can dominate and typify much of K-pop, it’s just as comfortable with a more tranquil approach.†Their eclectic sound has made them ubiquitous in Korea, and flashy, meme-worthy music videos have fueled their online fame. They’ve also had plenty of critical acclaim. In Korea, they won their first daesang, a major music award. In the United States, they’ve had five entries on the Billboard 200, beating previous records set by major K-pop artists such as G-Dragon, BIGBANG and EXO. Who are their fans? BTS has legions of fans, with a rapidly growing base in the United States. When ticket sales for their latest world tour dropped earlier this year, BTS sold out U.S. arenas in a matter of hours. They quickly added more shows and sold out massive arenas, like the 18,000-seat Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Their cult-like following is most apparent online, where they have more than 5.6 million followers on Instagram. For context, Carly Rae Jepsen has 1.6 million Instagram fans, and Christina Aguilera has 4.2 million. Curiously, the band hasn’t had a show in Canada since 2015, when they played the Phoenix Concert Theatre, a relatively small venue that only hold about 1,350 attendees. Some Canadian fans considered that a snub and started an online petition urging the band to add a Canadian date to their tour. So far, they haven’t had any luck. What does BTS stand for? The band’s name has several meanings. Their original Korean name, Bangtan Sonyeondan, means Bulletproof Boy Scouts, and they were also known as the Bangtan Boys. Over the summer, they added the meaning “Beyond the Scene†to more accurately reflect their English acronym. What’s next? At the moment, BTS is on the Asian leg of their tour with upcoming shows in Japan, Taiwan and China, but the band continues to use social media to plug their latest album. Only one member of the group, Kim Namjoon, speaks English, but band members have said they plan to learn English and Japanese in hopes of connecting with more fans. Beyond their music, the band faces the looming question of what happens when they are required to enroll in military conscription, which is compulsory in South Korea for men older than 18 for two years. Other K-pop bands, like BIGBANG, have splintered when members moved into military service. For the moment, the band is racking up positive reviews in international media. Vogue “The truth is that no other Korean artists in recent memory have been able to penetrate the U.S. market in this way; in turn, that international success has made them more relevant back home, where they were once a smaller act. They can thank a dedicated fanbase—appropriately named Army—whose frenetic devotion rivals that of Directioners and whose greatest numbers lie overseas.†Vulture “BTS dropped an album this week and the only single you need to care about (in fairness, the Chainsmokers collab is fine), “DNA,†is absolutely not a Kendrick Lamar cover, but the sound of a boy band headed in a new direction plotted for crossover domination. I would venture to call this a pop emergency.†The New York Times “Ease is the most striking aspect of “Love Yourself: ‘Her’,†which is likely to be this group’s most successful release to date in this country.†http://www.ctvnews.ca/entertainment/who-are-bts-5-things-to-know-about-the-korean-boy-band-storming-pop-music-1.3610951?hootPostID=53f04b035c553c6b31e54907e285ffdf
  9. I'd probably throw a party if it does. Cracking Top 50 is hard - they need radioplay and some US exposure for that, but I'm happy enough they aren't requesting for Top 40.
  10. I watched the clip and you're right. Their new goals are: #1 in Billboard 200 and entering the Hot 100 Top 50. BUT BOYS YOU DO KNOW THAT IS PRETTY IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT A US FRIENDLY SONG & IF YOU DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO PROMOTE IN THE US...just being realistic but ARMYs surprise at times. I can see BB200 #1 happening. But Top 50 in the Hot 100 needs some semblance of general public support and longevity.
  11. I'm still sort of shook that DNA is in the radio playlist rotation in America As a K-Pop fan in the era when Rain, Se7en and BoA were all trying, the mediaplay then was all sorts of ridiculous. Only Rain probably only had actual traction then but his American fanbase was nowhere near the level current Hallyu idols have. Most of them were Asian-Americans too and it was obvious that K-Pop then was a big subculture mainly within the Asian American community, this was also the case for K-Pop websites like Soompi (when I first joined the website in 2004, most users were actually gyopo - Korean Americans). To this day I still get a slight whiplash whenever I see people of various ethnicities enjoying K-Pop tbh but I gotta say what really makes BTS different is they even get people who aren't into K-Pop at all invested into them.
  12. I am especially curious on how they will promote Best of Me tbh. It got more downloads than Not Today ever did with no MV ansd no promo. It's also heavily played both domestically and internationally. There's potential in this song and Go Go tbh.
  13. I feel if the whole Best Buy and possibly Target having Her in physical stores are true, we might see a boost
  14. Tbh, I think the star only signifies they will be promoted singles - Go Go, Mic Drop, DNA, Best of Me have it and they're currently the songs being performed and promoted except for Best of Me, so with this situation it still seems BoM is the one which will get an MV since it's the only one left unpromoted amongst all the "promoted" singles. NGL Bang PD and PDogg seem to be the type to end up on that side of Youtube.
  15. GO GO GETTING AN MV WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST BUSINESS DECISIONS...EVER. Someone at Big Hit is getting paid for watching the reaction videos on youtube.
  16. This also reminds me of Suga's rap in Sea I don’t want to cry I don’t want to rest (No, how about resting just for a little bit? No, no, no) I don’t want to lose It was originally a desert (Then let them know everything We have to achieve more)
  17. I am quite certain they'll be spending some time overseas, probably 1-2 weeks on end to do some activities so they're probably cramming a lot of deadlines right now. I feel the second installment of Love Yourself is almost done (is this a hint that it could get darker for that album? Sometimes the creative process affects artists too. So if they're dealing with darker songs and genre for the next album, this could creep into them somehow.) But I'm sure the boys are also getting a heavier involvement in the creative process so that can get draining, plus I'm sure the upcoming Dome Concert is NOT a rehash of the Wings one so I'm sure they're rehearsing for that as well. They're probably going through tons of meetings for the album and upcoming activities too, so filming isn't the only thing keeping them busy. Plus the whole 26 hour filming with MNet really drained them, I saw a huge difference with their energy levels right after that event. They seemed way more exhausted after the whole MNet-Daejeon hoopla than they ever did when they were touring. All in all - too many things for them to do, so little time. Same. I think the second installment of Love Yourself is nearly done, and as the boys mentioned, all of them are getting more involved in the creative process now as we go further.
  18. Oh, he's really been hustling this comeback. He just did two variety shows back to back, plus wasn't it his brother's birthday yesterday so he might have celebrated with him too after work. Hopefully he could relax a bit for now and enjoy the deluge of his new fans! Hihi. Well-deserved deluge I must say. Anyway, Go Go really does have the potential to go viral omg It's starting you guys Click here to view the Tweet fascinating that whatever Go Go challenge is happening...is not really started by BTS fans but muggles lol
  19. I am sure this gig will entail the 'fan' to appear over broadcast: whether video or audio hence that term.
  20. OMG guys they talked about BTS on the Pop Shop Podcast (it's a pretty known podcast for popular mainstream music, coincidentally for this episode they're interviewing PRETTYMUCH too. Is USA gonna see a new wave of boyband era again?) They talk about them from 18:50 to 22minute mark. Really insightful stuff about how US has been waiting for that K-Pop door to break in after Psy made waves half a decade ago. They talk about BTS stole the attention and curiosity during the BBMAs and ponder if they could be the final missing piece for America to warm up to non-English songs in the current age of Despacito. Seriously guys, if BTS cracks that door I really feel it will influence the whole K-Pop industry in general and make it easier for other acts too. Quotes from the podcast: "It's been interesting the past year to see BTS really take this stranglehold over US listeners" "I'm gonna make a bold prediction. I think you're gonna see BTS on one of these award shows in the next like, eight months... as performers" PODCAST LINK (18:55-22:05) https://www.acast.com/popshoppodcast/prettymuchonbringingfull-outdancingbacktoboybands-workingwithgodofpopmaxmartin?seek=1139.462193492&autoplay=true
  21. They've got a fansign during Chuseok, tho hopefully they spend the rest of it on a break. They need to unwind, tbh and it will be greatly beneficial to their well-being also. Anyway, November is free - but that's also when a lot of the awards ceremonies and events start to happen in Korea. For one AAA (the one fans are voting crazily for right now) is set to be on 15 November. There are rumors they might be invited to MTV EMA in London (but that's November 12) though that is just wild and baseless speculation as of now. People are theorizing they followed MTV back is either due to 1. TRL or 2. MTV EMA. BTS no longer follows accounts randomly so if they do, it's highly likely a collabo is in the works with that person/entity. If MTV EMA invites them, I highly doubt they will make it to the AAA ceremony though we should find out in about 4-5 hours from now when MTV releases their guest list later. If they aren't in the MTV EMA list, then it's almost certain their follow back to MTV will be for TRL.
