Pretty obvious that Big Hit wanted to see how an English language song related to BTS would do in streaming/charting considering the recent intensity of the fandom. The thing here is if many fans stream it/buy it, it goes up the playlists/gets recommended to a lot of people and Change actually has a very Western sound. Most intl youtube reactors instantly like it (not in a fake way, you could see they genuinely dig it).

Tae is spotted in Osaka with family. JiKook are in Tokyo with the Jeon family. Fans were polite enough not to approach or take photos of them. Considering the distance of Osaka and Tokyo, unlikely they'll meet (and even if they do, it's not our business as it's their private time)

haven't kept up eith J-Pop lately but aside from M-Sta and Music Fair, what are the current ongaku bangumis still airing? M-Sta is a wish and an appearance would certainly drive their sales up (is the Johnny monopoly still holding up?). Does Utaban still run? I really think they need to go to Japanese shows the GP watch if they want to shoot their sales up. I think Shabekuri would be right up their alley,

I think Big Hit is happy enough right now with the US performance. I do not think they have plans to break into the market right now (Bang PD probably still reeling from the WG US debut fiasco, I am sure he had a lot of inside information about that situation hence the hesitation). For them it seems they just want to monetize US for now - earn money but risk little by not really exerting much effort to promote there so if things go awry, they do not lose a lot. Big Hit seems to be using the US as a source of mediaplay to cement their place in Korea - that is why they want to chart on BB200 and Hot100 for a month, it is good mediaplay. I think this will change massively once two things happen. 1. BTS is projected to be able to cross 100k SPS for BB200. Pure sales are also growing if stock issues get fixed, I don't think it is sinking in with Big Hit yet as I assume Gramophone mainly handles their US affairs. 2. They are bound to return to the US for a tour or event soon, I think BTS and Big Hit know in theory how the BTS movement has grown in the US but haven't seen it. The current ARMY fandom is not the same as it was during the BBMAs. It is bigger, stronger, more organised. Remember how BTS wasn't invited to Drake's BBMA Afterparty last year? With more US industry insiders knowing who they are now, this is bound to change real soon. Big Hit and BTS will experience that change and they will have to learn to deal with it effectively. Handshakes in Japan: It increases sales by a lot. Oricon charting is only a spurce of prestige, but what most K-Pop companies are really after is profit. These handshake, high five, events may not be fully counted for Oricon but it drives sales up and that is all that matters for companies who just want the kaching.

They are dropping a single in December. Interesting to see how it will fare against Chi Ase Namida (will their sales double from 200k?) I still think physical singles are the ultimate baston of popularity and relevancy in Japan compared to albums, really shows the selling power of any artist. I dream of the day where they could set foot on Kohaku but as of this point even M-Sta seems like a pipe dream. I really think the ultimate way to promote a song in Japan is for it to be a drama/film/Anime OST. I think we will see sales spike and the fandom grow even bigger if that happens.

Sis edited my comment as I felt it came across wrongly lol. Not saying BTS isnt doing well in Japan. Sales wise and demand wise they are up there. I was talking more of how it looks like in the grand scheme of things from a J-Pop pov.

If it is a Japanese album by a K-Pop group, no, it is not a big deal. It is a great achievement but K-Pop acts (especially the bigger Hallyu acts) do well physically in Japan, and a #1 monthly is plausible if no big acts are releasing albums (most of them will be releasing physical singles and the competition over the chart is more brutal) But a Korean language mini like Her doing it? Very much so. It is a rare feat. Will it make waves in the Japanese music industry the way Tohoshinki, BoA, Big Bang, Kara or SNSD did? Not really, since the fandom obviously bought it. Also BTS numbers last I checked still sort of pales in comparison with the main Japanese boybands. The thing is...their numbers WILL catch up soon and that is when it gets interesting. Chi Ase Namida sold awesome for a single and Her slayed during the first week. The potential is massive in Japan if Big Hit is smart. Now Music Station is all that is left to seal the deal.

I came from Jpop so can provide some insight. Truly think the standard would be the sales off Johnny's and LDH boygroups. It is quite obvious BTS is on top Hallyu-wise in Japan along wwith 2-3 other acts right now but you would know they're doing well in their own context of you pit their physical sales against Johnny's groups (Arashi and those who debuted after them) and LDH groups. Japan has a very heavy physical single market - it isn't a chart frequented by BTS simply because they mostly release physical albums, not physical singles (the Oricon singles chart is pretty much the Hot 100 of Japan in terms of prestige imho). My Japanese friends still hold this more important as a chart, not Billboard Japan.

The thing is DGNA is actually doing decently in Japan (like Supernove/Choshinsei) so maybe that could be a point to consider.

I definitely think this is 99.99% confirmed because mediaplay happened. Also Zico (Jiho hyung lol) - Namjoon is an interesting pair because I don't think they're as connected as people like to think they are. Zico even forgot they did a mixtape together so...

Might have more than 1.2m after repack tbh. Their fandom is pretty fired up with all these standards being raised (no, they arent angry lol just motivated) and now that they know it is doable, their fandom is really preparing for that repack, I know because a K-Pop GC I belong to has a bunch of Wa**ables. I honestly don't think that fandom can do 1M per release yet but their repack can easily hit 500k and their Gaon right now is 700k Their fandom really wants to break records since they are temporary and they are really huge in Asia (W* is in my homeland rn and my Facebook is going pretty crazy lol) - a lot of W*nnables are also e*O-Ls or ARMYs so there is that factor too lol. Once they get a wider discography, they will get those MNet comeback specials too lol. Mnet will probably push them more if The Unit or Mixnine becomes popular since things will be more competitive. But all good, hope competition like this will help ARMYs be on our A game next comeback. We did it first with no repack, under a month lmao.

If they're pushing this remix to the US, I can see it doing well if it's gonna be a remix of a BTS song that's a certified stan attractor internationally - I'm thinking something like Save Me, FIRE, Not Today or BST.
