  1. My IRL's timeline is filled with "Who is BTS" "Who TF is BTS" right now Then I just realized what a genius move this is? As people question this (they already know the group's name), their talk show appearances will air the next few weeks + a new song. LIKE WOW. How timely is everything now that everyone's curiosity is piqued whether they love or hate the guys.
  2. My cousin who was watching thought they were the next N'Sync (only more colorful..and Asian). She said they looked like nice boys who were talented. I wonder how many people watching on their telly had this impression of BTS? Because all of them will be thrown for a wild ride when Mic Drop drops on the 24th
  3. An ARMY who used to be a Belieber said the current seat code for BTS was the same one for Justin Bieber in the 2015 AMAs, so their seat position right now is nothing to scoff at
  4. This sounds delulu but I feel at this point, there is no reason to base BTS' trajectory to how former K-Pop acts fared. It's already obvious at this point that they're going to be their own thing, do it their own way and are highly-likely to turn out as not only K-Pop legends, but Asian legends. They're not only setting records, they're spearheading things. They're pioneers. Records can easily be broken (and are meant to be broken) but being the first this or that are permanent and engraved. Not to mention the things they pioneered in aren't trivial stuff but quantifiable & relevant achievements for Korean idols (relevant Billboard charting, BBMAs appearance, first Korean act to get a solo stage at the AMAs, changing stereotypes about Asian men) Even if the buzz & hype dwindles on them at some point, the boys have proven they're very self-aware & know their marketable points. Just this alone makes me believe they won't have the typical K-Pop star trajectory as long as they avoid getting themselves in trouble (read: scandal, but even then I don't doubt they would reach a point where they could blow up so much that even scandals couldn't ruin their brand) They're out not to just make records or collect trophies but to leave a legacy in global pop culture. That in itself already marks them different from your typical successful K-Pop group.
  5. The idea of a Mic Drop perf at the AMAs is a bit too delulu right now but not exactly impossible Click here to view the Tweet
  6. I apologized if any of you got hurt from my disdain for DNA. I shouldn't have generalized, but the song is an antichorus which is why I firmly believed it's not a good introductory song. It's far from the worse song and I know some fans realy dig it, but it just doesn't feel like something that is best to do if their goal is to impress. Of course I don't know whatever they're thinking (putting a twist or whatever) so I did speak way ahead. So sorry if my rash actions offended anyone. Just so you know Eshy has been liking tweets like this since yesterday so the AMAs game/survey/poll may not be as innocuous as it looks. Seems farfetched, but I wanna be delulu enough to hope we get two songs.
  7. No one said it's their worst song, but try going on ANY platform in English where fans talk about the choice of song: Reddit, forums, Twitter, even Youtubers - places wherein fans tend to have diversified opinions - almost share this consensus. No one is saying DNA is the worst song, but will you personally use it as an intro song to someone new to BTS? Tastes are subjective, but a good majority of ARMYs will choose another song themselves if they're going to introduce BTS to their family and friends. I'm not calling off the possibility they could put a twist on it (and they usually do with their awards stage performances too) but this chance they're getting is one of those "once in a lifetime" moments. I just don't see DNA making that impact, though one of the good things about the song is that it has good line distribution amongst the members. Perhaps deep down, it stretches back to hoping BTS released a more impactful title song for this album since the AMAs would want the Hot 100 song to be the one performed. This is one of the few times I wish I were wrong though. I'm a natural pessimist so I tend to consider the things that could go wrong before big moments like this (bad camera work, wrong outfits, perofrmance mistakes due to nerves) but I've realized things always turn out better when I fret over it (on the other hand, things always go wrong with stuff I feel confident in). Just to let you know, I'm not putting down my expectations because I don't trust the boys. It's just my natural inclination to be pessimist (almost to a superstitious degree, because like I mentioned - things always go awry over events I have full confidence in)
  8. I'm actually guessing BTS might not go home empty handed during the AMAs. They apparently have this award. Luis Fonsi is nominated in the Latin category, so this might as well end up being in Bangtan's hands.
  9. Big Hit has been making me scratch my head over their decisions recently. One of them is performing DNA for their US stage debut. I hope DNA being in the Hot 100 hasn't deluded them into thinking US ARMYs actually love that song. Most US ARMYs actually preferred the other tracks but only streamed the heck out of it to put it on the Hot 100. Performing DNA instead of Not Today or Fire just seems like a questionable decision to me. Hoping there's a remix for a dance intro or dance break of sorts but I'm keeping my expectations down to not be disappointed. Best case scenario is that the AMAs realize a good chunk of the audience will be ARMYs and let them perform two songs.
  10. I don't think people are saying it's an identical parallelism. Just some uncanny ones. Interesting video as well.
  11. I don't think the author was trying to say they're the exact replica of the Beatles (it cannot be, as The Beatles are in a league of their own and are LEGENDS), just that the whole LY arc coinciding with their US debut seems similar to the trajectory of The Beatles. I think she was referring more to the global breakout of both groups. It is interesting to note though that The Beatles have been active for 4 years before they debuted in the US. They were formed in 1957, but didn't really start playing professionally until 1960 (they had member changes and the like), then made their US debut in 1964. The Beatles had over a thousand concert hours clocked in by the time they made their Ed Sullivan debut, nowhere near rookies. Another interesting parallelism is they scored their first hit in 1962 with Love Me Do. Again, this was a full 2 years before they made their US debut.

  13. For example...I will cut a bitch if they do a close up during the lalala part. That needs a full body shot of the 7 boys doing it. I will also vut a bitch if they don't do the tight shot of Jimin when he slays after the multiple yongwonhi part. this is all new territory so I hope it all works out for both sides (Big Hit and the AMAs)
  14. One thing I notice with American shows, is that it's very different with how they do it in Korea. In Korea, companies sends a videotaped rehearsal of the choreography highlighting the "killing part" of the dance, to allow the show PD to know what aspects of the performance to showcase for the camera work. US awards show performance camera work is mainly just random close ups, tight shots and zoom outs. I hope Big Hit knows how to work this and Dick Clark is cooperating. The camera work for the DNA performance will be crucial to how this turns out. And the boys have only one shot.
  15. Hoping it's just normal motion sickness (which he actually has) because of a turbulent flight or he just had too much wine on the plane. I hope he's better tomorrow. Knowing Jimin, he's the type who avoids as much as possible showing this side of himself to fans. Get well soon Jimin.
