  1. I actually have zero experience in anime. Probably none.
  2. I'm looking for some anime that: 1. has a female protagonist with a strong and inspiring personality, but not 'strong' in the sense of fighting/physical combat, just mentally strong as a person 2. preferably has a story about youth and self-development (it doesn't have to be set in high school though) 3. is a good anime that can be enjoyed overall 4. if possible, please avoid recommending anime with a lot of violence Thank you so much! If you can also tell me where I can watch the anime, I will truly appreciate that
  3. She didn't even have to try to get the screen time. Everyone was just drawn to her. I remember last time there were a bunch of girl group members guesting too so it wasn't as easy for Bomi to show her charms. She became almost like the ace of this episode though. Lmao I laughed so hard when she kicked the guys. Our girl is definitely not your typical girl group member. She can kick ass if she wants
  4. Her collaboration stage with KWINS Click here to view the Tweet
  5. Boyfriend had an amazing performance today, I doubted their chance of moving to the final last week but today they proved me wrong. Shannon seemed content with the result, I think she had prepared herself for this. Her performance was a breath of fresh air and being the only soloist left in top 4 really should say something about her abilities. I can proudly say overall in this season she seemed to be the one who went all out and experimented with a wide range of concepts and themes the most. The tap dancing from today is totally worth some acknowledgement. Kpop Star has totally helped her career rocket again (with all the viewers' rating and web trending). Cannot wait to see what the future holds for her
  6. The quality of the first season's top 3 is just top-notch. Season 6 has been more about performance and less about vocals. It feels so different watching these 3. No offense to the current contestants, but watching these girls' stage seems more like watching a stage of the champion…
  7. Minari should have performed Fantastic Baby as their main song. They are doing so much better than during the Something perf. I'm in love with Soomin's voice KWINS and Shannon have good chemistry, I wouldn't complain if they decided to put Shannon in as the final piece of the girl group in the end
  8. HOLY SHIT THIS IS MY FAVORITE JAM OF ALL TIME idk, Spice Girls are so feisty, KWINS are cute and energetic but they're not quite up there. The harmonization is a bit weak, but I loveeeeeee the dance break
  9. But they still have their individual stages and the voting will still be separate right? KWINS have huge fan base too, even bigger than Minari's I think. They just did so overwhelmingly well last time that they didn't need the audience's votes to pass. But I assume there will still be individual stages and the audience still vote for each contestant/team separately? Correct me if I'm wrong. Is that what the next episode will be like? I thought the 40% of audience voting from last episode wasn't too bad, hope they keep that. Audience voting has always been used in shows like this, and we all know how unfair it is. Most of the time the popular contestants with bigger fanbases get more votes (except for some strange cases like with the lesser-known country singers winning all the American singing shows lmao). I personally like the "live voting" used when the bottom group sang for the chance to stay, where only the audience who got to watch the show "live" (like, actually "live") voted. These people seemed more likely to vote based on the quality of the performance and they are not some obsessed fan girls or boys who just vote without even watching the performances. I heard that Shannon's last performance was actually really nice if you watched it in the studio and that was why the judges gave her such good feedbacks. The sound on the broadcast didn't do her performance justice and thus people are commenting about how she shouldn't have been put in this top 4 and how the judges gave her an easy pass. There was nothing "live" about this voting except for the fact that it occurred within the time frame of the episode.
  10. At this rate I doubt that the show will let Boyfriend take home the final win. The audience might vote for them, but for the last few episodes, the judges have been putting them down quite a bit, and I can totally see them go home next week. It seems easier to kick them out earlier than to have them until the last episode, now that Boyfriend don't contribute to either the viewership or the gg agenda. The thing is, I think the result at this point will solely depend on the quality of these final performances. Although I argued that Kpop Star already had their results set in stone from the start, they are smart enough to not do something that triggers the audience and viewers. A winner with a final performance that's worth the win is their safest bet. Even if they want one of the gg teams to win, they will still make Shannon the winner if she delivers a great performance, and vice versa. The reason why I don't include Boyfriend in this is that their performances have been literally along the same vibe from the very start (and that vibe is hella impressive!), so the chance of them giving a performance that stands out and wows the judges at this point is kind of thin. The girls are more likely to give us surprises from time to time. Just look at last week, KWINS did extremely well, and when they got through nobody complained. People are only butthurt when a team passes without delivering a good performance (i.e. Minari). So I do think it all boils down to good song choice and great performance. Because even though at this point Shannon is less likely to be bashed by the netizens compared to the 3 other teams, she will get a load of hate if she gives a bad performance and still gets through. I think it's fair game now.
  11. Now isn't that the truth… her technique is better than 99% of all Kpop tbh. Is that a top comment from an article? Yeah I think she has come so far in this competition. Everybody knows how biased the show is so I'm glad people are giving her some recognition and acknowledgment for being the only soloist left. The foolproof formula for Shannon in the next round is probably this: fun concept + powerful belting + choreography that is not too tiring + a stage where she gets all the spotlight (i.e. the backup dancers, well, stay at the back). Too bad that Beyonce's Love on Top was already performed this season, I think Shannon's groove and vocals can totally pull off this track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyKzJM5DmbY Or an Ailee song. She sounds exactly like Ailee Or she can try a pop/rock concept like her performance on Immortal Song. It was soooo good but the audience didn't even know that to appreciate her vocals and stage presence Imagine how great it would be if Shannon decided to sing opera for her next stage though lol
  12. To be very honest, I didn't think her performance this week was great, at least compared to her previous ones. The judges seemed quite impressed regardless so it's all good. I guess she brought out a different image (and a very fun one too) and that helped her score the 3rd spot. What bugs me is that the song didn't do justice to her vocals. But oh well, being an idol means that you have to appeal to the audience and sometimes compromise showcasing your talents. Yes she definitely is at a disadvantage now. We know from this week's episode that Boyfriend and Minari have huge fanbases (and I'm sure KWINS do to) because they got through despite getting lower judges' scores than Jisoo and Yoonhui. Plus the show's intention to drag the gg trainees 'till the end. I really hope she gives another performance of the "Who's your mama" level next week. There is very limited chance for Shannon to go to the final without one.
  13. OUR BAE MADE IT EVERYONE. She's the third out of top 4
  14. I feel like she has always been the ace from the start. She would definitely be a stan attractor if the trainees were to form a girl group eventually. JYP and YG fought over her very early on, and the whole show seems to always have a special spot for her. Kriesha deserves it though, she is a strong dancer, a good vocalist, and her personality shines through all of this competition
  15. YAASSSSS Chorong and Naeun both get to sing the chorus I'm so proud of our visual line So they do have a Korean version I hope Apink will promote Bye Bye in Korea for their next comeback too, this song is literally how everyone pictures Apink in spring time…
  16. I wonder if Shannon ever thought about auditioning for SM, considering her Kpop inspirations are all from there. Does anyone know the backstory of her journey into Kpop? I only know that she came to South Korea and appeared on Star King. Did MBK approach her after that or did she seek out to the company herself? Did she audition for any other companies?
  17. Everybody knows it's a lot of pressure being a Kpop idol, especially for Apink (coming from a smaller company, leading the way in the cute/innocent concept, etc.) and Eunji (being the first in the group to go solo, handling quite a lot of things at the same time). I can imagine it must have been horrible for Eunji during the solo promotion, and for Apink altogether during their last comeback. The girls didn't show it much but Pandas know how upset and disappointed they were during the Pink Revolution comeback (we never blamed them but sadly they blamed themselves). I wish we could do more to support them beyond all that streaming/buying albums. Apink deserve all the love in the world, and I hope at least the girls themselves can support each other… EDIT: Btw, I'm not saying PR comeback flopped at all. It's just that Chorong herself expressed disappointment and apologized to Pandas so there's that.
  18. For sure, I mentioned that in the response to boramrambo right below. I remember being amazed by her appearance on Star King. She killed the musical performances, she danced to SNSD naturally, and her acting was better than most popular actors in SK honestly. That's why I said going for the Kpop idol status wasn't the best choice for her, because she is way above that.
  19. Well even in MBK she needs a comeback first for us to see how well her popularity is fairing. Anticipating that following the end of Kpop Star! One thing for sure, being a soloist is definitely not at an advantage these days. Girl groups are such a big trend so if Shannon went to any other agencies, I would want her to start in a girl group first. They already divided the two gg teams: Soomin/Minju/Ara vs. Sohee/Chrisha/Hyerim. I wouldn't complain if they pitched the two teams against each other. At least that's fair for them and for other contestants. I think they might have clarified the format in this episode but there are no subs yet. Shannon really chose the tough route deciding to become a Kpop idol. Like a lot of people say, she has talents to be something more than that (like a musical actress). The Kpop world is rough and being from the big 3 and being from other companies both have their pros and cons.
  20. I'm envisioning, at one point they'll merge all of the gg teams into one single group. Maybe after next round? Or for top 2? What if this 6-member team gets the final win? Might as well be a win that has been planned since the start lmao.
  21. People might not like this but can YG just take Shannon in, somehow? He seems to be quite a fan of Shannon and even though he has a notoriety for keeping his trainees in the dungeon, Shannon is actually still young, so she still has time, plus the more he likes her the sooner she'll get her debut. I think debuting under YG can give her automatic recognition (see Blackpink) and Shannon might be able to find her self with the resources that YG has.
  22. Could be some bitter Eunjin's fan though? Honestly both girls deserve to move forward. If it helps, both girls deserve the advantage of being placed in the gg category too. Let's see how it plays out next week for Shannon. If they continue to be extremely biased towards the gg trainees, I won't take it anymore… That's great that the audience is empathizing with her. I have nothing against Boyfriend though, I'm fine with them winning the whole show. Shannon is actually in quite a good spot now, she has constantly been shown as the dark horse, while her skills are undeniably outstanding. Hopefully for the live show next week the audience will take that into consideration.
  23. She made it to the top 6, everyone!
