You do know she doesn't own her music and her brand was remade in 2009 by media experts. This wasn't how she started in the industry.
Also, she has an entire PR team to monetize her brand and her image, however she herself has said she is different off stage. And that is my point, no artist has majority control and are different people when they are not in public. But that doesn't mean they are fake. I hope you understand me more.
This is smth I've said before in this thread but a lot of people disagreed with me (maybe it was because of how I phrased it? idk)
Imo you can't be 100% fake. There will always be something about someone that will get past the "made up persona". Maybe it's something that the person just can't hide for too long like a certain habit or behavior or maybe it's something they don't need to hide at all. That's why I don't really like the "this is just a persona" type of arguments people sometimes make here.

Silence, babyv004 is finding out what being a fan of someone means.
I agree with you that Josaline's post was uncalled for and that some of the discussion has slowly gone off topic if you catch it only by the end of the discussion but overall you just sound bitter because people aren't talking about the people you like.
In your other post you complained about people talking about bts enlistment, grammy and sub unit promotions. In reality, those things were just referenced in the bigger discussion whether or not Hybe forces fanservice on their groups and whether or not they have a say in it (aka Taehyung supposedly making a post against Taekook).
You said you don't read bts posts here and that's great! That's what you should do if the discussion doesn't interest you. But if you want to criticize the discussion, you need to know what you're talking about.

I don't really understand the reasoning of tae and jimin being feminine though since taekook at least within the past few years has been centered on tae being more masculine. Besides those shippers that cling to the idea of him looking like he did pre 2016, I don't see him portrayed as feminine much like jimin is. (This is unrelated to my beliefs)
SpoilerMaybe it's changing now but as far as I've seen people still see Tae as the "woman" of the relationship. Even if it's not as exagerated as Jikook is, if you know what I mean.
Well, at least that's what I've seen from the taekook shippers that pop up from time to time in my tl.
1 hour ago, miwa201 said:Jimin has said he sees Jungkook as his real life little brother many times (most recently he said "the hyungs all think Jungkook is my real life little brother" but tinhatters of course interpreted that completely differently). I don't think Jungkook feels any need to say the same because the way he speaks about Jimin or Taehyung is exactly the same as he speaks about the other members, they're all grouped as his hyungs, although he has called Taehyung his friend in the latest Festa content. But shippers will ignore anything that goes against the narrative they have in their minds. And like the person above me has said, ever since the image change Taehyung went through in late 2019/early 2020 he's seen as the more masculine one in taekook. Temember someone coming in this thread a couple of weeks ago wondering why people don't talk more about Jungkook's "dainty" mannerisms? That's the newest narrative in the fandom. Because of Jungkook's image, his tattoos and muscles, there's an opposing side that emphasizes his feminine traits.
SpoilerI get where you are coming from, but Vmin are in another level when it comes to talk about their friendship. They are soulmates, best friends, etc. Their unit song is called "Friends", like...
Also, the narrative about Jungkook having dainty mannerisms and being delicate are not new. I used to see them a lot in like 2015-2018, when he didn't have any tattoos and piercings and was younger. In fact, a lot of the receipts that support this narratives are from around this time, for example him liking victoria's secrets perfumes, and other things. It has actually died a little, after he got tattoos, which is not surprising at all. But I do see the people who still believe in it becoming louder and louder, maybe to break the stereotype that he is super macho.
As I said above to the other user, as far I've seen Tae is still in the "woman" position for shippers. Even if they are more on a "equal foot" now, Jungkook is still the bigger one and the stronger out of the two.

New here. Here's my personal opinions on BTS.
Jin: straight. Has, to my knowledge, talked a lot about his future wife, and also said he likes girls in bikinis.
Yoongi: straight. When asked in a 2017 Japanese interview what things about J-Hope make his heart flutter, he said some nice things about him but then added that Hobi doesn't make his heart flutter because they are both men. Suga's interactions with women on American Hustle Life seem like he finds them attractive. Yes, some of his lyrics are a little suspicious, but I honestly think they are just typical rap dissing. Possibly even aimed at B-Free, who criticized him and RM for becoming idols and wearing makeup.
J-Hope: straight. Apparently he had a high school girlfriend for three years, but then she left him.
RM: straight. This man's lyrics and that filthy song he covered... man. And his interactions with the girls on AHL. It is true that he seems familiar with the gay movie Moonlight, since he references it in 4 O'Clock (and he, Suga, and Jimin seemed to be familiar with the also-pretty-gay-and-explicit Korean film Frozen Flower way back on Rookie King), but I don't think that means anything since he's always mentioned how he supports homosexuality since before debut. (When RM tweeted the song 'Same Love' back in 2013, Hitman Bang replied and asked if the singers were gay. RM thought the question was about him and said, "Ha... Bang PD thinks I'm gay ㅠㅠ". He then added that he supported homosexuality.)
Jimin: bisexual or maybe gay. He has definitely had his moments where he seemed to ogle women doing sexy dances, and implied he liked girls in bikinis at the same time Jin did. My main reason for thinking he isn't straight is his relationship with Taehyung. There are some very suspect things about those two that everyone, normal people and shippers alike, seem to ignore, which I'll get into below.
Taehyung: gay. He cried about Call Me By Your Name and went on and on about it on Vlive, even calling it his favorite movie. A ton of his favorite celebs/photographers are gay. And I do think that he and Jimin are in a relationship, which I'll explain below.
Jungkook: straight. He hasn't done anything too suspect, although I will admit that his GCFs with Jimin were... interesting. (Shippers love to go on about JK sucking Jimin's ear at the Rose Bowl, but that was so public and visible that I think it was fanservice + trying to make Jimin laugh.) It's blatantly clear to me that Jikook is being pushed by the company (they're apparently trying to hint at it in their new webtoon??). I really think there was something between JK and the tattoo artist. In Korea, a man does NOT just backhug a woman in public, especially if she has a boyfriend! It's intimate skinship for couples. Not only that, but BigHit claimed they went to a restaurant on the island, when in fact the restaurant photos were taken on a separate occasion in Seoul, from what I understand. I don't know if they're still together, but something was fishy there.
Now for the reasons why I think Jimin and Taehyung are in a relationship. This is not at all about "shipping", but about the evidence. There are a ton of things.
First off, the obsession with calling them "platonic soulmates". It's weird. Has any other pair really had that? This label allows Vmin as a pair to get away with crazy behavior that no other pair does, yet people just brush it off and don't consider it, because, you know, "just soulmate things."
Taehyung, as we all know, is obsessed with gay people, lol. One of those people is Ryan McGinley, a photographer who takes nude photos of his boyfriend and does LGBT photos in general. Back in 2017, Tae and Jimin were chatting on Weverse and Tae jokingly threatened to post a "Ryan McGinley-like photo" of Jimin that he apparently had! The way Jimin responded suggests that this photo, whatever it was, actually exists. Translation here (warning for some NSFW McGinley thumbnail images): https://btsandvmin.tumblr.com/post/637500911781117952/sowait-what-do-you-mean-taehyung-basically-said This entire interaction is weird as heck to me.
There are so many other little things that it would be impossible to name them all. One is the Christmas song that Tae wrote and wanted to sing with Jimin, but was shot down because a producer thought it would be weird for two men to sing(!). Tae's song Sweet Night, which started out as a personal song for his mixtape, is a song about falling in love with your best friend. (Who, I wonder, has he constantly called his best friend?) Some of his other songs have/could have connections to Jimin as well.
Earlier this year, on a TV network segment with Kocowa (so not under the sway of BigHit), the members wrote messages to each other. Tae wrote one for Jimin. Vid here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=U7N17X6_ej0 Before Jimin opens it, Tae says he likes using opportunities like these to be more expressive since he doesn't get to do it often. The other members react very oddly to the whole thing. For some reason, Jungkook feels the need to randomly say "It's about friendship!" to nobody in particular. Jin has a really weird, indecipherable expression. Jimin opens the envelope but shoves it back in, says something like, "this is getting dangerous, we should stop the segment." Then Tae declares aloud what he'd written down: "Jimin, I like you the most." To which Suga stands up and screams jokingly in a really over-the-top way, which he didn't seem to do quite as extremely for the other members' expressions of love. It's not hard to read the situation as the members worried Tae's about to go too far and inadvertently expose his relationship on TV, and they act to deflect from the situation.
Tae and Jimin hold hands so often, in ordinary situations. They are so touchy with each other in general, very free with one another's personal space, especially off-cam, to the point that at least one Korean thought it was unusual -- a Korean who worked with them several years ago stated that Jimin had his head on Tae's knee and then buried his face in Tae's stomach, "like a puppy playing." A Chinese interviewer for the Chinese COOL magazine said that Jimin sat in Tae's lap suddenly and tickled him under the chin. The COOL staff were "losing their minds" but the other BTS members didn't even blink. More recently, an American who worked with BTS said that "the curly-haired one and the platinum blond were all over each other." We know they've shared rooms and beds constantly as well.
Also, what about that segment on Run BTS where a blindfolded Tae had to touch Jimin's body to figure out the dance move he was posing in? Jimin acted so flustered and nervous and jumpy the whole time, saying "this is weird" and stuff. Tae also posted a pic years back of Jimin in the bathtub... Tae was sitting on the floor apparently keeping him company as they watched a kdrama on a a laptop. More recently, on Bon Voyage 4, Jimin straight-up said "I want to live forever with my lovely Taehyungie."
I've spent way too long figuring out what I wanted to say here, and it's way too late to be thinking this hard. There are many moments you can find on YouTube that seem like there's less-than-platonic tension between them. I'll leave you with this Twitter thread which summarizes a lot of Jimin and Taehyung's... interesting moments better than I can. https://twitter.com/vmxn__/status/1240288427213496327
Hello, I just want to comment about the Vmin theory and tell you some things about this thread. (I don't mean any offense)
You may have noticed that you've gained a lot of clowns... that's partly because this thread is hostile to the insinuation that a ship is real, especially a BTS ship. It's not without reason, shippers have come to this thread to argue about how their ships are real a lot of times before and people who actually wanted substantial discussion got tired. Now, even saying that "X and Y might have something going on" might get people here fed up. Unless you're adressing it with an air of skepticism, just showing some "interesting interactions", people won't take your post well.
Also, any post about BTS gets clowned anyway so yeahAbout Vmin: I don't exactly believe they are a couple, but I've seen a post before in this thread that made me realize that Vmin might not be so platonic. I still believe they're friends and that's it, but wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that they've had more "intimate" interactions in the past. Like a friends with benefits thing.
I believe one of the reason why Vmin have gotten always with so many things is because they always draw the line, saying they're best friends and that's it. Meanwhile, Jikook kind of leaves it in the open for example. All of that and of course the fact that Jimin and Taehyung are more on the "feminine" side and bc of that shippers can't find a heteronormative way of shipping them together, as people have adressed some pages ago.

I've seen this argument before, and to be honest, just because some sort of LGBTQ+ media is popular, doesn't mean that it is less... LGBTQ+. A lot of people might have watched CMBYN in Korea m, yes. But I wonder how many straight guys would go as far as say that it is their favorite movie...

I really wanna know why people are all of the sudden so divided on idols that were always deemed queer? First Sehun a while back and then apparently key and now Ren. Also my own post about Jimin.
What is up people?
I think it's only natural for this to happen. Either because some people are more careful with their assumptions and therefore keep rethinking every detail or because the receipts used for that idol are old/have lost their 'value' over time.
For example, years ago Yoongi used to be one of the idols who everyone agreed to be queer at some level but since he hasn't said or done anything substancial recently, a lot of people have started to rethink their opinion about him, rethink the validity of the receipts. There are also people who got into kpop/BTS recently and might not know a lot of the receipts.
I think this is not a bad think tbh. It's good that we'll see different interpretations of idols from time to time, to get new perspectives. (of course, as long as they're not just someone saying "I think that idol x is straight and that's final")
(BTW, from what I've seen Jimin has always been divisive, but I think it's mainly bc people think he can only be gay or straight when there's bisexuality too)

It's fine, don't worry. I hope I didn't come off as intimidating lol

Hi everyone!
So I've been seeing everyone judge JK from BTS as a token straight friend but he is much more delicate and doesn't give a damn about masculinity or whatever in real life. He uses sweet smelling victoria secret perfumes/body mists, does his own makeup, hates strong masculine scents, shops at Sephora's, sits elegantly, loves receiving attention from his hyungs, gets shy when someone calls him pretty, has dainty little mannerisms, is very sensitive to smells etc. and is not some macho straight guy that everyone portrays him to be. I wonder why everyone thinks he is 100% straight? (Sorry for my english, hope my opinion is not insensitive, I'm not a native).
A lot of people see him as straight because usually his dainty mannerism is the only thing that could be considered "suspicious" about him and still a lot of people rule it out as part of his "e-boy aesthetic" and nothing more. He is very "macho" on the surface, with his muscles, tattoos, competitiveness, with the way he dresses, etc. And some of the things you've listed might not be uncommon for straight men to do in SK, like applying makeup.
And of course, he is the BTS member who had the most convincing dating rumor with a woman.
None of these things are enough to define someone's sexuality. Gay men can be "macho", straight men can be delicate, and of course there are bi men, pan, etc. But for a lot of people it's better to go on the safe route when speculating Jungkook's sexuality.

And it's funny that the maknae line is the most discussed, is it because they all really ping so much or is it because they're the most popular members?
Isn't that the point? I mean, aren't we all here for the same reason: finding representation in the media we enjoy and in the people that we like/relate to?
Because what is stopping us from talking about western celebrities if that's not the case, for example?
Of course people who only stan BTS and have the maknae line as their faves would talk more about them here. It's only natural.

They are absolutely putting on a show when they’re on a set, it’s an unavoidable consequence of being filmed from the minute they walk in. Maybe not every second that they’re there, but we’re not going to see those moments on a Memories DVD lol. They don’t have to be playing a completely fictional character to play up fanservice (which I consider all the on-camera skinship to be, ship related or not, if that wasn’t clear)
We’re probably not going to agree on this though so oh well
Yeah, let's agree to disagree.

I’m not talking about the psychology of being an idol im saying even the description “all the time” isn’t accurate because they’re *not* being filmed all the time. They’re being filmed in controlled environments that they had to wake up in the morning and commute to, maybe for long hours or for long periods of time but this isn’t exactly the Truman Show.
I'm having a issue with communicating this through English then. What I meant is: "They work as idols for long periods of time, for years, and it has come to the point where it's difficult for them to pretend to be something they aren't". If you still disagree, then fine. This comment was a response to the idea that they're putting a show or something every time they enter a set.
My original post wasn't to force the idea that fanservice means genuine attraction like some of you seem to have interpreted, it was just a commentary on the concept of fanservice.
Also, calm down, lol

I didn't mean literally 24/7, more like 'all the time', sorry for the confusion. And yeah, I stand by what I said. They can't pretend to be something they aren't for such a long period of time, even if this is a job they have to do. And what they do pretend is still a part of them.
This bit that I said wasn't (only) about them being intimate, I was talking about their idol personas in general. Because there seems to be a common idea that personas = fake and it's not exactly like that.

I don't think that was a shipper post since there wasn't names being dropped or characteristics that could be associated to especific members but other than that, yes you're right. I should have put a disclaimer or something, to take the account with a grain of salt.

While I don’t doubt they all like each other, I think it’s disingenuous to say that they were behaving any more naturally just because a camera wasn’t directly in their face. They were on set specifically to be filmed, there are multiple camera men literally running around looking for content. There are videos and pictures showing what their sets are like, even a bangtan bomb looks like a film set for all the crew they have. They’re professionals doing a job, if they’re going to be caught slipping it’s probably going to look more like JK whining about how his steak is cooked lol
Unless they're idk making out, it's not the type of thing to hide anyway. All I was saying is that they're likely not intimate for fanservice purposes only.
Also, they're human, they can't pretend to be something they aren't 24/7. And even what they pretend to be ( their "personas") are still part of who they are, in a way.

BTS's closeness to each other always surprises and impresses me. Therefore, I think it is misleading to look at the dynamics within the group. Because they are all very close to each other, thanks to this, they do fan service comfortably.
I wouldn't call it fanservice, at least not in the sense of "intimate acts that they're doing for the fans". Looking at those moments and the maaany other ones for Memories 2020, you'll notice that most of them happened when the camera wasn't directly at them/when they didn't notice that the camera was at them. It's obvious that they're like this out of genuine affection for each other.
I wouldn't say it's completely normal for them to be so intimate though... Recently there was an account of someone who worked with them as staff. According to them, two of the BTS members were being intimate with each other during their work together (sitting on each other's laps). Excluding the other BTS members and the Big Hit staff, all the other staff were a bit shocked by that. I'm not saying this is proof that they're all actually dating or something, though, I'm just giving a different perspective to the "korean men are always super intimate with each other" argument.

I know he isn't an idol, but Bang PD has been discussed here before and this old tweet of his has resurfaced:
So this man has not only recommended Troye Sivan and his Blue Neighbourhood trilogy, recommended Hayley Kiyoko, among other things, but he also has read Banana Fish?? And he even said that it is a BL, there is NO explanation for this
I'm not sure if he is lgbtq+ and unapologetic or he is just so confident that he is straight that he doesn't mind sharing obviously lgbtq+ media on his sns
Seriously...

this is random but i've been thinking recently about scandals within the kpop industry and there seems to be every type of scandal possible except an idol getting outed - which i'm thankful for - but it seems that every possible bad thing ever has happened except outing (unless there was a big event of an idol getting outed which i missed? although i doubt it because i probably would've heard about it).
i was sort of wondering how that's even possible. is it because people are so heteronormative that most of the general public haven't grasped that there are gay kpop idols out there, they just haven't come out yet, so one being outed would be so unbelievable even though it could still, and probably would, ruin their career and i'm assuming if an idol were to be outed it'd be for revenge or out of pure hatred for the idol or is it in a keep it hush hush way where other people within the industry are going out of their way to protect them so no idols are outed? although, if an outing scandal happened and there were no paparazzi like shots of an idol kissing someone of the same sex i guess the idol/their company could say they're fabricated lies, even if they were couply texts between the idol and their significant other or highly convincing lovestagrams and things aligning like it is with straight idol couples where it's taken as fact.
it's just interesting to think about because of homophobia still being so prevalent in today's society and it is a stigma like numerous things that have become scandals with kpop idols (most notably, imo, drug usage) but there's not been a scandal to do with, actually not even just outing but lgbt stuff in general, concerning idols? once again, i'm glad that that's the case but yeah. much to think about.
There was a scandal where a celebrity was outed tho. It happened 2-3 years ago and it was with an actor instead of an idol, so I don't know if it counts.
The actor was outed by his ex-boyfriend, who went to the media to out him because the actor cheated on him.
I saw it in a site like netizenbuzz, but I can't find it because I don't remember the name of the actor... Also, the k-netz seemed to be more mad about him cheating than being allegedly bisexual, but then again that could be just a way for them to hate on him without being called lgbtphobic
If anyone can confirm/find the original article, I would be grateful!

I've seen some people speculate about the possibility of Jungkook being asexual and to be honest I don't see it... I don't have any receipts to prove it though, other than the fact that he had "Do Me" by Kim Petras (a very explicit song about getting f*cked) on his Spotify playlist a while ago. However, I'm well aware that listening to explicit songs has barely anything to do with being asexual or not. Idk...
I wouldn't be surprised if he was demisexual though and afaik demisexuality is on the spectrum of asexuality, so...
Also, I know the discussion was about asexuality, but I'm 99% sure he is not aromantic either. On the contrary, he seems to be a hopeless romantic lol. He has talked a lot about things such as how he would like to kiss his significant other like a certain scene of a movie.

Speaking of Hybe 'family,' I'm starting to reconsider some things...
When I was first introduced to them I thought Tae was bi, maybe gay, but after seeing how many people thought he was gay and he stopped mentioning women I shifted to exclusively into men. Now I'm wondering if there may be some lingering attraction to women after all. Not based on Tae's reaction necessarily - a man smiling at and joking with a woman doesn't mean he's attracted to her - but the reaction of the others are what's suspicious; it definitely seems like they gave him a ribbing after this interview.
(For clarification I have NOT seen the full interview so this very well may be taken out of context)
Lol I literally just watched this interview and thought "yeah, people will say he was flirting with her"
Might be just a reaction (that he would have with anyone else) to his voice being called sexy or actual casual flirting because it was her especifically that said his voice was sexy. I personally don't mind either answers, because I still think he is bi with strong preference for men.
As for the other members reaction, I think it wasn't related to that at all. They started laughing like that after he gave his answer (That "his vocal coach didn't like his singing and he turned it to his advantage") and I assumed it was an inside joke. They had similar reactions to other members answering other questions.

SpoilerThis has been discussed a lot already, but I have to explain: "to retard" is a verb (a word that express an action) of latin origins that simply means "slow down (someone or something)". It's used a lot in romance languages (such as spanish, portuguese, etc.) in that way, as romance languages come from latin. English is also influenced by latin, although not as much as the languages I mentioned.
The r slur is a noun (a word that describes someone or something). The verb form of it precedes the noun (slur) version of it, therefore it has nothing to do with the slur (other than the verb form being the origin of the slur form).

I understand if you're neurodivergent and feel unconfortable by the usage of the word even in its verb form, though. I know that its usage isn't common in english outside of the slur and seeing it being used now might feel like using "gay" to mean "happy" nowadays. But I just want you to know that saying the r slur was likely not RM's intention (especially considering that the sentence wouldn't make sense at all if that was the case).

There was also illevn. If my memory doesn't fail me, he is the least problematic of the bunch but he also was jailed for drug possession. He is also bi, IIRC?
Sometimes I wonder if Dear My Friend and the other times Suga mentioned having a "friend" who ended up being in jail for drug possession were about him.

Regarding Jungkook saying "yeobo" to Jin, I'm pretty sure it's not the first time someone from BTS calls another member "yeobo". I don't remember exactly the people involved and I can't find it rn but I'm pretty sure they both were from the maknae line
I would say this is just them being affectionate to each other and nothing else

Really? They seem like the most non straight Gen to me. I’m seeing a lot of vibes of LGBT boys who were inspired to become idols because of their idol crushes lmao but maybe that’s just me
I have this same opinion about the 4th generation

Wow, you guys complain about BTS being discussed a lot in this thread but I'm not seeing as much outrage now that there are annoying trolls here either being "xyz is straight deal with it lolol" for the lulz or "you are forcing your sexuality onto people!!" for pages
Seriously, even the Taeyong discussion was at least on topic.
