in my hs there were a decent number of gay/bi/trans kids. about half of the ones i knew were out and a couple of kids hadn't formally come out but were very obviously not straight/cisgender (by the way they presented themselves.) i knew like 3 out gay guys in my grade and 1 the year below, 1 out trans girl from a year below me, 1 out trans guy from my grade (and another trans guy came out after graduation), and probably at least 3 out bi girls in my grade and 1 out lesbian from the grade below me. i'm a lesbian and i know 2 closeted bi guys (friends of mine) and a few closeted bi girls (also friends.) and in college there are even more out kids imo; i think ppl are more free to be themselves when they're living away from home. i'm definitely a lot more open about being gay/not liking boys in college although "formally" coming out is still uncomfortable for me so i haven't really done it, but i do wear a lot of pins supporting LGBT ppl.
