basically outlined in op. different skill levels plus circumstantial reasons. how is it fair to force numerical equality if someone simply did better and more in a recording booth or can sing better live, or producer just thought some voices fitted the mood more, or someone wrote a real killer verse etc.

some people are extremely driven and willing to clock in insane hours to achieve smth and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. the proverbial 97th percentile in virtually any field is naturally comprised of this kind of people. moreover we all are passive beneficiaries of all the hard work that pushes boundaries of what we collectively know and can, so.. perhaps the biggest probelm with k-pop scheme in particular - it worked too well. this amount of global success is really extraordinary, esp when you consider the fact that less than a hundred million speak korean. it's not some natural phenomenon exploited by corporations, it was basically constructed by those entertainment companies and pushed further generation after generation. and the very fact that the trainee system is very much capable to manage idols to commercial success - to far greater and with far bigger odds with their help than without - makes it highly competitive. basically it's not exactly as simple as "you should suffer to deserve the amount of money you make". it's more like "there laid a potential pile of money and you and 100 others raced for it - no shit you worked your ass off to be the one get to it". there are ways to regulate this industry to make it easier to quit without hard consequences, make it easier to cope for those who are having a hard time etc. but you won't ever get rid of putting in hours and hours of old plain hard work, it's just utopical.

unexpected and exciting. should we expect a pre-release single then? beyond comeback trailer

I would be pissed to see this addressed on the level of a damn worker union if I were BP tbh. It's not a documentary or drama or anything that claims to portray reality, it's a music video with its artistic vision and what not. The usage of profession was in context, it wasn't some random "slutty nurse" moment and the outfit itself was tame. Nobody expects scrubs, ppe, sneakers&crocs, shit-wage, shit-hours reality for stylized metaphorical moment in some mv and no sane patient would treat their medical professionals any different cause they saw Jennie from BP wear heels with her nurse coat. I mean good pr moment to raise awareness it may be but for me it feels like the backlash was not deserved here.

chart BTS earn their first ever No.1 on the Hot 100 with "Dynamite"!
sasha replied to satoori's topic in Charts and Sales
Another impressive career milestone and I'm really happy for them! It's really a joy to be a witness to their journey. And for ARMY I'm happy too - they are miracle workers of self-organisation and it's a long time coming, big victory for the fandom too. Congrats to all Also Dynamite is really a lot of fun and they really came through with their VMAs performance! -
tbh based on the teaser I thought I would like it much less cause of BWL feel it had and usual annoying autotune. but I love it. the autotune gave it a kind of daft punkish flavour lol, it's not all cute but fun and easy, I like the song and fits are great. I've been on an emotional trampoline for like a month now so it's nice to have a bit of a break now
-
oh great. now they decided to autotune the bejesus out of live performance too. i still hope they are about to rediscover the word subtlety for their next cb

that scenery is gorgeous. long-awaited broadcasted variety show and it's self-hosted wow. looking forward to it like crazy but I also hope they will get to go to RM this cb season

Will the bulk of fan-streaming now migrate to Genie?
sasha replied to sasha's topic in Charts and Sales
isn't Genie also included into digital score? it's not that melon suddenly isn't relevant. just out of 2 where it's going to be easier to chart songs for a fandom now melon just today rolled out their changes. I think it will take couple cbs from gps with big fandoms for migration to occur, if at all. -
Changed rank system + absence of real-time chart made it harder for fans to affect positions and to track progress on Melon. Will thus Genie suffer the influx of fandoms? Will Melon gain back their users now? What do you think?

MV is really creative, one of the best this year. nice parallel with pandemic
-
oh hot damn this is a treat! bass is here for me, 2020 I feel supported
-
that dude came out of nowhere lol but they included feat. here I think I like the MV more than the song cause video is just gorgeous but song is a bit forgettable. I would say the chorus is tad too busy to stick easily in your brain

Well reputation is more along the line my thoughts went. My redundant point being it's not praise for bad lip synch per se but following a fandom in treating it humorously cause top tier vocalists are involved. Not a general rule, not always fandoms are followed in it by non-fans and I bet very rarely by media
-
lol maybe. I only really stanned 2 groups and in both cases they lipped more than the fandom talks about and I feel like it's generally true for any fandom - stuff like "puts down mic early" isn't really commented on unless it borders on comical/gains attention from outside the fandom and then it becomes "kings! don't know how to lip synch" Well it's kinda the gist of lip synch - to appear more capable/competent than you are at the moment or generally. It would be a simpler life if at least some music/award shows indicated "live" for actual live performances
-
It is really strange, imagine Selena Gomez being praised for that.. I do think it's more of a in-fandom thing though and often a bit of an overcompensation. I don't see k-pop fans in general using that kind of logic? idk
