Wow - I have to say, I did in no way expect bts to perform this many stages! Is this information confirmed, or is it simply the usual number every act gets to perform for the Kimmel mini-concert? But if truly is, here would be my wishlist - I ordered them after hype-level ;T 1. DOPE........................for obvious reasons. Nice starting track, super funky beat. 2. DNA..........................not my pick for them, but since it is the title, it has to be there. 3. BST...........................one of the best tracks in my opinion. Perfect merge between pop and depth. 4. Save me....................soooo many feelings. 5. FIRE.........................end of story.

I am not all that familiar with award shows, but I've read, and watched enough to know that certain ones only ever award the artist that are present - and to a degree, I understand the logic behind that system. Building up such a huge show and promoting it, is a lot of work, and costs a lot of money, and everyone responsible behind the scene is desperate to make the best of it and make as many people as possible watch - now, imagine if some of their biggest invited guests decided not to attend (or could not, for other reasons - like, erm...say, the AMA's?). Imagine if bts, Ex-O, BB, Go-t7, Sista, BP, and all of the rest would be missing from the line-up? That would definitely cost them a great deal of viewers, who were looking forward to cheer for their faves. Now, the reward for showing up on the other hand, is pretty hard to beat, since it get's the artist, not only a fancy trophy, but a great deal of coverage, free promotion and a great oportunity to make an impression and gain possible new fans. It becomes a win-win situation for both parties involved. So rather than see this as some plot to make bts lose, in this case I tend to see this from the organizers point of view. These shows are definitely in the decline, and desperate to make it worthwhile for artists to show up year after year. Of course they are going to treat the ones that do come, as good as they possibly can, to ensure they'll be there the following year too. Don't worry, there'll be more than enough chances for bts to win awards. Heck, pretty soon everyone and their grandmother is going to know the boys faces. So for me, It's really not a matter of bts ot winning anything for lack of attendance. The only thing that has me potentially worried is the boys not winning for other reasons. Knowing Koreans tendency for jealousy towards others success, and the lenghts some of these people are willing to go, just to proof that someone did not achieve what they DID achieve (Tablo, anyone?), I seriously have to ask myself if the boys not winning is rather a result of that mindset, and some anger on the producers part over bts "dropping" them for the US. I wish these thoughts would be nothing but absurd and silly, but knowing Koreans and k-netizens in particular, it truly wouldn't surprise me. But, as I've said, this is the only scenario that would worry me. Though it's probably truly nothing. Whatever - imagine the faces everyone's going to make when bts next album sells 2 MILLION copies ----- in it's first week!

WOW! This is huge. Honestly - this was the one award I was hoping they would get, but I knew the chances of winning it would be really hard this year. This is definitely going to boost their confidence even more, not to mention, that it'll look nice in their portfolio ;T Both "Al1" and the newly released "TennAge" are definite steps in the right direction, and for me personally, two of the highlights this year. Hope their contract with PLEDIS is going to pay off for them as well very soon. -
Random question - but did the boys change their haircolour specifically for the US? Now everyday is going to be packed with news. At the rate the fans are going, it wouldn't surprise me if they crash twitter completely ;T

I'd also like to add that bts achieved an incredible amount of things in merely three years. This is honestly HUGE - even calling it potentially earth-shattering wouldn't be too far off. Bts are the living and breathing proof that music truly has the power to transcendent all barriers, and bring people closer together, despite ethnical background. Don't you worry, South Korea is definitely not going to "sleep" on them that much longer. When the boys return, they will be known as the global idols, and their pictures and interviews are going to be all over the internet (twtter, insta, youtube,...) and we all know how greedy koreans are for those titles. They will gain the title of Korea's national treasure. It will be cool to like bts by then, because hey, if they were able to perform on a huge and famous show like the AMA's (among others) there really must be something to them.

Just dropping this here ------------------ bts, with Jimmy Fallon would be super good. I'm just saying. But since everything seems possible now I'd also like to add a Drake collab, maybe even a super lit "Best of me" stage somewhere along the way....I certainly wouldn't complain.

All of this is definitely good new! I was expecting that bts would guest at more shows than just Ellen and Kimmel, and am pretty positive that many more are going to add up as the week goes. Now, I only hope that the boys have a good time there, and that the hosts will manage (or try to) to engage them in an actual conversation rather than just pointing out their "asianness" - so to speak. I am not really concerned, since, even with american actors and singers, you always get those who simply don't know how to be funny on shows like that - but I'd really for bts to be as relaxed as possible, and even go all crazy if they feel like it. What concerns me just a little though, is how all the major newssites and shows are jumping the bts bandwagon, now that they've seen just what sort of attention that can bring to them. Of course, one has to be realistic, them being korean and their fans causing such an uproar is what brought them here to begin with - but I'd really like for them to show people that there is more to them than this "crazyness" involving their fandom, and for the US not to just treat them like another PSY.(which is more than unlikely though, let's be honest here ;T) They are young men and do relatively "normal" music in comparison, and hopefully these shows will be a good way to make viewers see that get curious, and treat them like actual human beings rather than those "asian guys" everyone's talking about. But you know what?--------------------- in all honesty, I am pretty positive that all of the current crazyness won't be just a one time thing, but rather the beginning of something huge for bts. I'm certainly not expecting to see DNA top all he charts all of a sudden, or the boys suddenly filling big arenas in the US, but there most certainly will be an impact, and I believe that it will remain throughout the coming year and grow even bigger in a couple of months. There sheer size of their fandom alone is capable of making BIG things happen, as this week has proven, so who's to stop the same fans (and all the added ones after this!) to make some even bigger things happen in the future? Buying their albums in the US, and streaming them over there is guaranteed to secure the boys actual appearances on major shows, and for more than just their "new fad factor". They'll be treated just like any other musician, and very soon, it will be their music people are going to talk about, not their "asian" factor. This is where bts truly differentiate themselves from PSY - their whole album sells, and it charted on the billbard, not just one very quirky track with a funny dance. They make good music for young people, and are very successful with it all over the world. And after this week, they will actually be exposed to a large US crowd, and everyone, not just their fans, are finally going to get a good look at them. You can't really ask for a better foundation if you tried. They have all the hard and neccecarry parts down, the only thing they need to do now is keep releasing good music and let the momentum do the work for them. I really can't wait for this week to begin properly!

To bring this back to their AMA stage - do you think they are going to go all out and add a ton of dancers, explosions and LED-screens? The more I am reading about it on various media outlets, the more I get the impression that this is going to be way bigger and lit than all of us expected, really. Honestly, if you watch the kind of traffic and attention ts is bringing in, it would seem silly not to use the opportunity to hype them even more. And a massive stage is the right way to go on about this, imo, the bigger and crazier, the better - all of the blogs are going to be full of coverage about them either way, even if for the simple fact that it will be the first korean act, with a korean song. Now, if the stage exceeds expectations this literally has the potential to grow even bigger. Everyone wins. I'm trying to come up with a possible stage for their AMA performance, but it's honestly been a while since I have last watched (and enjoyed) any sort of awardshow really. Ever since the golden age, with Britney, N'SYNC and Usher they have been kinda meh for me. __________________________ Edit: Just doing a sort of "FIRE" marathon here, and daaaang ---- I know, there's no good in wishing for things that are obviously not going to happen, but I truly would have loved for them to perform that song. Just the way they rap and sing in it, just brings out soooo much of bts personality. It coulda have been such a lit stage. I'm low-key pouting....daaang. (This is my prediction here, so take it whatever way you like ---- I can't help but think that there is a good chance they boys are going to do some sort of duet stage with Khalid)

Reeeeally excited to see bts perform on Kimmel/Ellen and the Ama's, but then again, I have to admit, I am not without concerns. The thing is, I've been a k-pop fan for a very long time now; I've pretty much seen and heard it all, as an result, there really are not a lot of things that shock me anymore when it comes to, either, style or stages. That being said, I very much do remember how odd it was seeing guys wear eyeliner for the very first time, or the super bizarre hairstyles topped of with pretty much every colour you can imagine. I don't see these things now, since I've grown so used to it all, neither do I frown upon some of the strange antics or the cutesy acting, but now, with bts beng exposed in the way they are in the moment, all of this has come back, and I can't help but wonder what side of them they are going to present. Do any of you guys have any such "concerns?" The other thing I'm really curious about is what sort of stage the boys are going to do. Do you guys/girls think they'll stick to their traditional korean performances, or spice things up a little bit? I've heard that the chances of them performing "FIRE" are pretty high, and if this turns out to be correct, I really hope that they are going to go all out with it, the way they did at the MAMA (I think it was ), with the huge red blocks, and extras, who performed that cool "fire" dance. To me, FIRE is more suited for big stages than DNA, which rather leaves some "empty" gaps in between the bridges, with the chorus being a non-vocal one. In no way do I mean do bring down the mood or any of the sort, and I am very much convinced that all stages they'll put, are going to turn out great either way, regardless of it being on Kimmel, Ellen or the AMA's, but still, they are Koreans in the US, and five out of the seven members don't speak the language, they are in complete new terrain, and regardless of nationality, this sort of challenge must be hard for any singer to tackle. I wish them the best of luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrlvtERiKbc My bad, it was the MMA's after all. Both versions are good, but this one adds even more drama and truly pumps you up. If they are performing this one, I really hope they are going with this version. They wouldn't even need to change a thing, and the sight something to behold truly!

Woulda have loved to see Seungkwans face right here. Last time Jeonghan was fondling Vernon this much he actually pushed his hand away - jealousy overload indeed! And super fun to watch. But yeah, their live stages are always fun to watch. There are simply sooo many of them, that it adds a whole new level to every choreo they tackle. Of course, it's good choreos to begin with, but when you have 13 of them blasting those moves, and visibly enjoying themselves, it truly comes across the screen, and makes it all the better. -

Indeed, "Wearing a hat" really sounds like it could have been on Al1. And yes, I noticed (and I believe, I commented too) that we are almost polar opposites when it comes to our rankings - it's funny actually, but this kinda gives me a better understanding of the person sitting on the other end of the computer for some reason. Tina, I'm beginning to put together a mental image of you - and this is the third puzzle piece ;T Love Letter is definitely not my top ranked 17 album. I'm not really a fan of the "softer" songs, so this probably explains it. Though I will say that I do not have anything against slower tracks, and even ballads - but for me, they are much harder to pull of, and like-wise, often lack lasting power. One of the very few korean bands who actually manage to hold my full attention, and do exactly this type of soft music is HYUKOH (check them out, Tina, if you havn't heard of them, I think you would really enjoy their sound) Tina, Tina....what am I going to do with you? I wasn't aware there even existed a possibility of someone NOT liking ROCKET. How dare you. As a punishment you are going to listen to ten P-SY songs and then contemplate. Naaaah - seriously, different people have different preferences, so don't be shy about expressing yourself. Actually, there are times when I wonder how the boys manage this themselves. There are sooo many of them, and with the involvement of each member increasing with every album, deciding what direction to go must be a tough thing to do. I wonder if the many sub-units this time around are a direct result of this, actually. Oddly enough, with every album, there are tracks I can ONLY listen to while I am walking the streets, and Shoot me is that track this time. It really pumps me up nicely, and kinda makes me forget how tired I am when I still have a long distance to go, or do some grocery shopping. Like-wise, CLAP sounds much better to me when I am outside, especially now, with the cold weather and chilly wind. -

What's your version look like then? Mine would be a mix between Winn-ers "Island" and SIkk-K's "Shut down the party", with tons of nostalgic sunsets and a run down the californian beach side, surfing and driving off into a packed bus with a nice sunset behind. _______________________________________________________________________ THIS ----- is the Jeonghan I've WANTED to hear all this time, and the one I actually did hear in their acoustic version of "Adore U". (also - his voice in CLAP is definitely MUCH deeper than any of their other tracks so far, and I hope he continues to keep it this way in the months coming. It definitely comes across much more relaxed and effortless.) ____________________________________________________________ My question for everyone - what's your favourite chorus from any of tracks of TEEN AGE? It's a tough pick this time around, since there are about five VERY solid and catchy choruses for me this time around, but I think, personally, I will have to go with "Wearing a hat", not only is it powerful and uplifting, but also conveys a great deal of genuine emotion, which, imo, makes it stand above the equally as strong ROCKET and FLOWER. -

One thing to add though - despite CLAP not being my favourite track, I have to say that, 17 performing it live, and with their energy....is a damn 10+ But that's the seventeen-effect, I guess, and you know how powerful that can be. It's been known to have a positive effect on the brain, clear your skin, stimulate brain cells, improve your mood, and, occasionally even create shifts in time and space. -
WOW - a lot of things going on for BTS at the moment! They will be busy as hell in the next few months - but then again, this too is one of the reasons they accomplished as much as they did in such a short period of time. Seriously, the boys are constantly on the move, and always doing something They never seem to be in need for rest; spitting out album after album, with seemingly very little effort ---- but what really surprises me the most with them is, that they are showing no real signs of fatigue while doing so. They don't appear to be in any imminent danger of running out of ideas anytime soon - quite the contrary actually! And all of this without a drop in quality. Truly amazing, if you ask me! Now, if you were to ask me how they manage that, when other groups go on a long hiatus instead, I think I have an idea. BTS have 3 producers, who also happen to be very skilled lyricalists - not one, but three, (even more if you consider BIGHITS own home-producer!), and that makes a GREAT difference, imo. If any of them runs out of ideas, he doesn't have to feel pressured to come up with something new for the next album, because there are two (four) more, who take over. Of course, this is just my take, and only one point that, as I believe, makes the difference - there are of course other factors as well. BIG HIT is treating them fairly well by idol standards, which is evident if you simply browse youtube a bit. The rappers are allowed to release their mixtape, with whatever content they desire. The boys themselves are responsible for their sound, and seem to be making enough money to live comfortably. But whatever it is they are doing, it's working pretty damn well! The thing with Kimmel/ELLEN and MTV is going to be really cool; I can feel it guys.

▿ SAY THE NAME — SEVENTEEN! ﹥ The Official Seventeen (세븐틴) Thread ▿

I think one of the reasons is definitely that we have November, and people are busy in general in that month. Christmas is just around the corner, and everyones out in the streets hunting for presents and getting their winter gear ready. For students that would the time for a lot of tests to come soon, likewise, if anyone here is still in high-school, there's a lot going on there as well. The other reason, I believe, is that the change from "BOOM BOOM" to "DWC" was much more drastic (both musically and style-wise) and unexpected, and really stunned people - in comparison "CLAP" feels more like your typical 17 song, and something one would expect from them. Then there is of course the track itself ----- CLAP is a good song; very upbeat and fun, but for me it simply lacks that special something to make it really stand out. It starts of very strong, and builds up very nicely, especially with the pre-choruses, but I find that the momentum then stagnates with the chorus itself. The melody is not quite as catchy as in "Manse" or "Adore U", nor is the chorus as memorable as "Aju nice" or "Don't wanna cry", and it also lacks their repetitive value. CLAP hits a lot of spots, but the chorus and the dragging in the second half, kinda prevent it from really being the smash it could have been otherwise. I understand why they picked it as the title, but imo, there were other songs on the album that stood out WAY more, they could have used instead.(ROCKET, CHANGE UP, PUT MY HAT DOWN) But that definitely doesn't stop TEEN AGE from being an absolute banger otherwise. Don't get me wrong, CLAP is in no way a weak track, it's actually a very good one, but put up against some of the albums really strong tracks - from which there are at least four - it falls a little bit short in comparison. It's a bit unfortunate when you want to go all hyper and crazy for a come-back, but find yourself not quite on the same page, because I really like this album as a whole. I love the direction the boys are taking with it, and consider it a definite step up from Al1. ROCKET. CHANGE UP. LILILI. FLOWER - are almost perfect tracks, and some of the best 17 ever produced, and take the number one spot for me. I consider them to be in the same category (quality-wise) as "Change up", and for anyone that knows me even a little bit - you'll know I wouldn't just say that if it didn't mean something. (They are my favourite tracks along with "DWC", "Swimming fool" and "My I".) The tracks I consider weak, for me, would be "Shoot me", "Hello" and "Campfire". ______________________________________________________________________________________ PS: If we got MV's for ROCKET and FLOWER, I would be beyond hyped! -

Haha - my list is pretty much your list, only reversed. Listening to this album some more, I'm really surprised there are so many "hard" tracks on it. I mean, you have FLOWER, I'M WEARING A HAT, SHOOT ME, LILILI, TRAUMA. Then you have the good-vibe tracks like CHANGE UP, CLAP and HELLO. A very good mix overall. -

FLOWER is veeeery different from what I thought it would be - and I'm loving it. There are a lot of edgy tracks this time around. But the funk vibe is definitely there as well. So far, the tracks I like best would be as followed - 1. Change Up, Lilili, Rocket. 2. Flower, Shoot me before I go, I'm wearing a hat, Hello. This is going to change at the end of the day, when I have listened to the album another ten times - whatever, the overall vibe is very good, fun and upbeat. -
