Ian McKellen once said half of Hollywood is gay, so I think it's definitely possible that a significant portion of the Korean entertainment industry is gay/bi too, especially with the other factors that would make it attractive in Korea specifically (e.g. having an excuse to not date heterosexually or get married, etc.).

Hmm, I'm not sure that's necessarily true. If you look at the American entertainment industry for example, there are quite a few openly bi/queer women. I think it's just that it's harder to tell with women compared to men.

The first issue with the mods was that they left the original post calling us pedophiles up while deleting posts responding to those accusations, which implies they were siding with the OP.

Just to be clear, no one in this thread is arguing against a rule of, "Don't sexualize minors." In fact, we've already had that rule in effect since the beginning of this thread, as far as I've seen. We're objecting to the double standard of creating a rule against saying an underage idol could possibly be non-het, when that rule has never been and frankly will never be enforced for people flat-out assuming underage idols as heterosexual. And underlying that double standard is the homophobic mindset that any non-het orientations are all about sex, and therefore only appropriate for adults.

For those asking, I think the Discord was ended a long time ago (unless I just lost track of it?).

If the problem is "speculating" about someone's sexuality, maybe we should do what straight people do and just assume everyone is not-het by default.

Mods, if you would like to actually institute a rule of "No discussing an underage idol's personal life," we would be more than happy to report all the posts that violate it for heterosexual speculation. Just let us know.

Yes, it escalated because people called the users in this thread pedophiles, not because anything turned sexual, so why is the crackdown on this thread and not on the people making vicious and unfounded accusations?

Also, "what is this urge some of you have to speak about minors and what they are or what they like?" I don't know, maybe ask literally every single interviewer who asks underage idols about their ideal type, with ZERO outrage from fans.

I totally get what you're saying, and like I said, I really don't have any opinion on Jeongyeon. I just think that in general, we should keep in mind that many (if not most) lesbians have dated men. Also, many date them sincerely (as in, not as a beard), because they haven't figured out their orientation yet. This was probably on my mind because of this video I just watched by a queer Korean youtuber: And of course, continuing to like men would still leave the door open to being bi, etc. Again, I'm not arguing that's the case for Jeongyeon. I don't even know her that well. I just don't think we should necessarily write a girl off as a wlw because she has a history of dating men, since that would apply to many if not most wlws out there.

I don't really have an opinion on her, but plenty of lesbians have dated men, especially in a less gay-friendly country like SK.

Some parents of gay/bi people have said they've known since their child was 5, 6, 7 years old. Are they pedophiles for it? A gay/bi identity is not inherently sexual. Hell, you could be gay or bi and completely asexual. Some parents will see their toddler acting cute with another toddler (usually different genders) and coo about puppy love. Does anyone consider that pedophilia? No, because there's nothing sexual about it. So why is the same situation sexualized when the kids are the same gender? Also, I understand that there are shippers who do sexualize minors, and that's not okay, but people here can't be held responsible for that. As long as no one here is participating in it or sharing that kind of content, what is the problem?

Tbh, while it's of course always possible that he's aro/ace, I'm not sure skipping two video game kisses and being uncomfortable playing the pepero game is enough to assume he doesn't like romance ever. Most idols are uncomfortable playing the pepero game, because they're almost kissing their friends. And I didn't watch the game stream, but he might've just wanted to focus on moving the game forward. Also, he probably wouldn't have skipped a het kiss and played a gay kiss on a stream, since that would've looked suspicious. But who knows? I do think his feelings for Park Hyo Shin go beyond fanboying or looking up to him. It seems very crush-like to me (like that time Ravi pointed out how red Hongbin's face and ears were while talking about him), but beyond that, anything is possible.

Have we seen him react to gay romance?

One thing to also keep in mind is that probably almost all the romantic content he comes across is heterosexual. So it could be that. And/or it could be that he's lonely and bitter about lol. Reminds me of this MV:
