close... 9 of the current 21 J-trainees are ranked below 30... and 4 in the 20-30 ranks... impact of the fancams are usually pretty limited to my understanding... air-time and a memorable performance on the show is more important unfortunately...

Interesting fact: 39 of the 98 trainees were from Japan or 39.8%, after the 1st elimination, 22 of the 58 trainees are from Japan or 37.93%, which now reduces to 36.8% if you remove Jurina from the mix...

lol... she was ranked 21st in the first elimination, bounced up to 20th in episode 6, 15th in episode and 8 and 7th in episode 10 on the basis of being on the winning concept team, ITSP... I posted a spreadsheet earlier about had the votes per rank based on the data at the end of the episode.... the votes for ranks 29-34 are pretty tight and it will come down to this week of voting...

It wasn't mean't to be anything of that sort, so apologies if it came across that way. The fact is the sexualization of minors in any manner is wrong and there is no argument there however the reality unfortunately is that the mere fact that this occurs on television, on these types of shows without any intervention or major controversy that enacts change speaks volumes... that stuff like dating or having a boyfriend to name a few is sufficient to wreck your career but performing a song outside of our age concept and in this instance went largely unnoticed in Korea says it all unfortunately... If you are implying that the show should have had an age restriction in place or that certain songs should only be open to trainees of a certain age and so on... sadly I don't think that's going to happen... Just saying, Peace!

39 trainees started the show, 4 withdrew early on... In the first round of eliminations, 22 J-Trainees survived (albeit Jurina subsequently withdrew), 19 did not make the cut... so basically 21 J-Trainees are in the position battles...

a pity yes, based on current standings where she's ranked... she has to make up an extra 60,000 votes in the next week in addition to keeping pace with the current 30th ranked trainee to even have a chance... but I suspect that a few of the lower ranked J-Trainees that made the cut will come out of the show with many more new fans then when they went in...

I suspect it's more of a context thing as opposed to a comparative thing... each of the performances are unique in their own way if only because the songs are different as are the trainees... When someone refers to 'Do you want to be an Idol' or that's a 'Sejong Moment' or 101 incidents from yester-seasons, it's not so much as what is being compared but more about its resonance to similar events in the past... The thing about avengers, face it... the Avenger franchise is a fact of life and the whole point of the 'Avenger's' is it's reference to a group of people with super human strengths... and any group in these reality shows formed with top-ranked trainees will always be dubbed as the 'Avengers'... It's not what MNet is calling them... it's what those teams are referred to by trainers and trainees alike... In fact, the true Avengers of PD48 season will be the team that debuts... the best of the best...

I understand where you are coming from, the reality is that under-age trainees in Kpop are the norm, and there are some really talented underage trainees out there... to assume and expect that they need to conform to social norms not of their country is perhaps a bridge to far imo... It's all a perspective as I said previously and yes perhaps there are those perverts out there thinking those ungodly thoughts but I would say generally that's not the profile of the bulk of main stream audience... Frankly, the first time I heard of the Side-to-Side song was back on KPop Star 6 when it was sung by Lee Soomin with the lyrics changed... and I loved the song and how it was sung, it was a bop in my books and it was only when I googled it that I realised what the original basis for the song was... My whole point in all of this... the show is to debut a 'global group' and all of the trainees on the show are there to chase their dream regardless of their age... they are there to showcase their talents, tangible or intangible... and limiting yourself to what is possible on the show whatever the reason is seldom of benefit... sometimes it's risk and reward unfortunately... but that's just my personal observation...

Okay... some more stats for those that are inclined... Basically, I have included columns, for the position performance (V-Vocal, D- Dance), benefit of 5,000 for those that came first in their performance. I have re-jigged the rankings based on the first week of voting, and have moved everyone else downwards to accordingly.... Please note that the votes are linked to the ranking and not to the name of the girl.... Also note that WonYoung and Nako are ranked in the top 2 spots... the total votes for these 2 spots is 918,414... Looks like the top 12 places starting to shake out... but then... we await the 1-vote round still to come... And who said that things were boring... Based on episode 6, Han Chowon imo is going to rocket up the rankings... and I suspect that Haeyoon is going to make the cut... and could even win the vocal position battle...

lol, I'm about 40 pages behind... but I just watched episode 6 for the 3rd time, this time with subs... I suspect that I'll watch the episode a few more times... but here are my random thoughts... I thought the way the positions were chosen were fun and it was great to see how the trainees were pushed out were given a song that they really did justice to... and that type of experience really allowed them to bond more... this team gave me similar feels to Park Soyeon's position Growl's team in S1... In terms of the change from 35 to 30 trainees making it past the 2nd round of eliminations, it's rough and it's nearly 50% of the class... unfair perhaps because there'll be 5 less trainees that get the opportunity to participate in the next round and the experience that comes with it... Season 1 would have seen the elimination of Insun, Yaebin, Chanmi, Soomin and Suhyn... I can only hope that this means that the more air-time can be devoted to developing story lines and visibility to the final 30... likely not I suppose, but we can only hope... Energetic: Loved the performance Kim Siheon keeps on growing on me despite her chances of getting into the final group being low, I hope she makes the final 30... She didn't get the air-time or visibility in S1 but she is much more this time round... imo, she clearly a strong and thoughtful motivator and and what air-time she got when she lead her group and position teams demonstrates that... Her willingness to take a step back and do what is best for the team resonates with me... She may not be the visual or strongest dancer or vocalist of the group, but she certainly is no slouch in any of these areas and brings a lot of intangibles with her... Asai Namini does resonated with me in the opening bars of the song... As I understand it, she is a much improved singer and I suspect it's the additional coaching from the program and especially from LHG who keeps on impressing me with his passion and ability to pin point areas for improvement, and actually provide ways in which to go about it... Yamada Noe remains her irrepressible self however my only comment is that although MNet does give her air-time, it's tending to more 1-dimensional snapshot rather then a storyline... but that's just an opinion... perhaps it's just that the limited air-time and other stories that MNet is pushing... Anyhow, loved her English introduction and her rap part... Na Goeun is clearly talented and I can really sympathise when she doesn't get the main vocalist position... despite what others may say about MNet editing or air-time given, I do sincerely believe that MNet this time round has taken pains to provide a softer or meaningful edits by providing a little bit more air-time to provide depth in the storylines they have covered... Goeun's asides and her working with Jo Yuri will resonate imo... Jo Yuri, what can one say... she hasn't been on my radar at all because there are so many other trainees out there that I'm tracking... I guess it's all MNet's fault, lol... but in this performance, I loved her determination and how she rose to the challenge despite some initial wobbles and I think she deserved the win however it would like to believe that Goeun wasn't that far behind her... Overall, this performance and song will likely join my Produce 48 rotational list... By the way... in Season 1, they had the mp3 files for all the group and positional performances... anyone know if that's been done yet for Produce 48?

Here are some stats for your further reference.... note: I didn't keep the detail benefit records for S1 so the benefit votes for S1 are approximates, in addition, the votings windows I assume remain the same for the S1 and PD48 save the # of trainees voted per day...

Lol, not close to a computer at the moment, I will pull my trusted sheets out.. remember, first round was 21 days - June 15 to July 7th and that came in with 14.5 m votes... so to reach these votes in a week ain’t too shabby... On the rankings... I wouldn’t read too much into them... but you can if you wish... I just wouldn’t put it past MNet to pull an Mnet... and dangle some red herrings out there... after all how do you build suspense, awareness and most of all solidify trainee fan support... I guarantee you that all the stans who suspect that their trainee is going to be dropping in ranks are suddenly going to be pushing... that’s why it will come down hard core supporters in the 3rd round... I also think the lighting and the outfits make a difference... Bang Bang had a much brighter feel and hence the energy of the dance came through... it also helped that each of the girls then had their own unique dance moment, Somi, Yoojung, Chungha etc... Perhaps it was the song, but Chungha does looks to be a much stronger choreographer then Eunbi Sent from my iPhone using OneHallyu mobile app
