  1. Fully agree... We seem to think that age has a direct correlation with maturity... perhaps so, but in kpop, the trainees mature a light speed if only because of pressures and stress that are part of their daily lives... naivety does not easily survive in that type of environment... Cultural norms in Korea are based on the place and realities that exist there... and not where we are sitting... one may not like it, or accept it but if it passes mustard in Korea... is it right... guess it comes down to perspective I suppose... In France, the age of consent is 13 [emoji33], now that what I call totally unacceptable and just plain crazy! Sent from my iPhone using OneHallyu mobile app
  2. Left to Right: Minjung, Sua, Soyeon, Gaeul, Jungmin Front: Hayi, Haeyoung Park Soyeon - Fave Entertainment - Expected to debut this year together with S1 trainee Lee Soomin Park Haeyoung (participated in MixNine) - Debuted with gg A.De with S1 Trainees Kim Miso, Heo Sam Park Gaeul - Debuted with gg Favourite Lim JungMin (participated in MixNine) - Was expected to debut this year with GG BlackMamba with fellow S1 Hwang Ayoung but has since left the group... Park Hayi - Debuted as a solo artist with her single 'Higher' in June of 2017 Yu Sua - Signed with BYJ's agency and was expected to Debut with gg Seeart this year, debut has been delayed and Seeart could be renamed OAHSIS and could debut under Krazy Entertainment Kim Minjung - who participated as an individual trainee, current whereabouts and activities unknown...
  3. Fully agree... As I understood it, Sohye's mistake in irony wasn't actually noticed by the audience until it was highlighted in the episode... and I agree with you that small mistakes are easier to gloss over during dance... in fact... Sohye did make a small mistake during her Dance in Full Moon, but MNet did not include it... it was the usual eagle eye anti-fans that spotted it and tried to make a big issue of it... lol... that nothing came of it shows how minor it was... but frankly, by then Sohye had stepped up to the challenge by proving that she wouldn't be out of place in a gg.... It does come down to editing unfortunately... how they handled Chanmi's note vs Jang Gyu Ri shows you the huge difference between producers for S1 and this current season... we must also remember that the producer for S1 went onto produce MixNine and you could see similarities he tried on that show... For my side, I'd like to think that perhaps the prospect of destroying the dreams of a trainee by casting them and creating drama that reflects badly on them for the sake of ratings... isn't something that they consider doing lightly these days...
  4. lol... but it also comes down to MNet editing unfortunately... if they want to magnify it... good or bad because if there is a story line to it... they will do so...
  5. Slow day huh? The calm before tonight's episode which will definitely move this thread a few hundred pages... lol... So on this centre thing... I see that there is a lot of logic being applied about who, what and why and reasons for that logic... suffice to say, a centre for means what... To me, it's the total package... and it's the intangibles that makes the package shine... call it what you will, visuals, vocals, dance or even that strange quality of charm, charisma, effervescence... it's the person that draws your focus... and manages to hold it... and the trick for any centre ensure that the whole is greater then the sum of the parts... lol
  6. Frankly, I actually like it this way... because despite people saying that the top 12 are 'boring' and 'predictable' so to speak... this way, there's still some uncertainty... and doesn't this build suspense...
  7. LoL... personally I would prefer to view each season on it's own merits despite the underlying premise remaining the same... I suspect people say that S1 was more interesting, the vocals better, better dancers and so forth... some would say 'nostalgia', we tend to remember the good and gloss over stuff that didn't stick... For this season, I think we are selling them short when we say there aren't as many good vocalists as in S1, I say, let's wait for the position battles tomorrow and see... Yeonjung, you mentioned, is a fixture in IOI but if you look at the voting in that final evening, her vote count was a little less then 3,000 votes more than Hyeri and Suhyun... and I suspect that had people known before hand that she would be debuting with WJSN during the IOI promotions, I'm not sure that she would have made the final 11... but hey, it's just history now... As I said in an earlier post... the first couple of episodes are key to establishing your fan base, and the subsequent episodes are there solidify their support... for those on the edge, it really needs a bang bang performance to break into the final group... Chungha is hugely talented without a doubt and people will say it was a given that she would be in the final 11... I would just observe though that Chungha really only came into her own when she got air-time and for her choreography / dance of the iconic Bang Bang performance... and once she had that focus, she never let it go...
  8. no... the huge drops were basically attributed to the change to 1-vote per day where Mina and Pinky were not at the top of voter lists... the other factor imo was the assumption that since both had so many votes in the earlier rounds, visibility, air-time etc... that most fans started spreading their votes to other trainees such as Nayoung and perhaps Eunwoo.... It was only a concerted push by Mina's Ajusshi block and Pinky's China contingent so to speak in the final week of voting that really pushed them up into the final 11...
  9. Basically Somi was the last person to be eliminated from JYP's Sixteen programme... the programme which spawned then hottest gg group in KPop... Twice... lol... obviously hottest gg could be debated I imagine... but in my books, TWICE is HOT.... So Somi came onto the show with an existing fan base so to speak and being a JYP trainee added to that base... her class audition wasn't perhaps as impressive as others however BJY pointed out Somi's Star potential (similar to how she pointed out Sakura) and Somi ended up in Grade A to start... The more important factor was that Somi grew from there and really displayed a multitude of talents...
  10. yep... early days still however having said that... it will come down to a few factors imo... obviously trending will be key however despite Naver comments... most voters are creatures of habit and our perspectives are formed early in the show... we will see more by episode 8 when the next round of eliminations come I would be very surprised to see more then 4-5 new names in the top 12 that aren't currently in the top 12...
  11. okay.... I had nothing to do and re-looked at my trusted spreadsheet and picked up a few finger problem mistakes in the vote counts... For those interested, of the 14,718,724 votes cast, it included 42,000 of benefit votes and 10,302 audience votes during the group battle performances... Voting period was 3 weeks and extrapolating from this number it implies that 58,200 people voted on a daily basis for their slate of 12.... and if extrapolating further to see what % of the trainees appeared on the daily voter lists... of the top 30 ranked girls... it makes for interesting reading... and of course... this is based on an average and does not take into account of trending... so enjoy...
  12. lol.... I want the sub-unit Sosobo to debut! as in... Semina... aka Sejeong/Mina/Nayoung who debuted as a 3 some a few weeks ago...
  13. lol... The reality is likely 6 of the top 12 girls currently (1st round) will be in the final line up come episode 12. As a comparison, in S1, 7 of the top 11 girls in round 1 debuted in IOI and by round 2 eliminations this number increased to 10 of 11 girls... Frankly, I didn't follow season 2, so perhaps one is reading too much into this... however I don't think it would be incorrect to say that the next few episodes are going to be key to the girls either solidifying their place or moving themselves into contention...
  14. okay... an interlude.... Semina from Season 1 just debuted... Sejeong was asked about her advice for the PD48 trainees.... Click here to view the Tweet
  15. Semina Debut..... And an interesting article... Click here to view the Tweet
  16. lol, I hear you and whether one agrees or disagrees on the points you raised, it's an opinion or a perspective as you said... For myself, was or is it unfair to other fandoms... probably... can or did we expect a level playing field... it would have been nice, but that was never on the cards... do we have to accept it... no... but other then that... there's likely not much else one can do besides changing the channel...
  17. I suspect you are being a touch too logical about things... the reality is that it doesn’t really matter if her quality overlaps with others or whether she is CF material or even if her personality matches the final groups overall look and feel... The final group will gel regardless of who’s in it... the time spent together, the intense training and common goals will forge strong bonds imo... We couldn’t really imagine IOI without Yeonjung or Nayoung, but the reality was it could have been Hyeri or Suhyun... Afterall, who would have imagined Sohye making the final 11 and who here would say she didn’t work out..... So yeah, Eunbi may not be in your top 12... and your reasons are all valid... but sometimes... logic seldom plays a role when you’re choosing based on perspectives and intangibles... 18. There are so many deserving trainees that need to be in the final 12, it would be great to have 2 from Pledis again.... and in this instance, it'll be great that the group will be promoting for at least 2.5 years.... I had huge hopes for Pristin... and I still do... but the long hiatus isn't working for me...
  19. One tends to forget that the the bottom line for the MNet Produce series is to produce a group aimed specifically for their domestic market, this market is and will be their bread & butter so to speak. Produce 48 was an attempt to freshen up the format else this season would have been no different to season 1, frankly, the inclusion of J-trainees has given the show a different feel despite the basic premise remaining the same. I suspect that I-fans likely did have an impact, specifically from Asia or China and hence the change to live voting via sms on the final evening, each sms-vote worth a staggering 7 votes. But that is just me speculating... But to lepidoptery’s point, any reality show we watch has built in biases and we the audience will either accept that or not and that will be reflected in the show’s ratings... as I mentioned before, in a show such as this, there will be never be a level playing field and whatever scoring system that is used will have its pros and cons... critics could point out for instance, it’s a copy of another show, how boring can you get, how unfair to award 100 k based on live audience participation that is not pre-screened and so on.... For me, I’m cool with it... are we shamelessly being manipulated, very likely... am I loving the show.... hugely... will some of my stans NOT make the final 12... definitely... but what I do know is that whoever is in the final group... will be there because they had the largest & likely the most dedicated group of fans... and that’s what will make the final group resonate... Some could say this is unfair since there were other girls equally deserving... or more talented ... or better... and they likely have a point but sometimes that’s how the game plays out...
