Bufan and Xiao Gui are the same age on the inside okay, both are 7 year olds. At least Xiao Gui looks and is closer to his inner age, whilst Bufan bby.. Group concepts are different to that of the innocent image of idols. Despite monsta x's popularity (if its even that tbh), whenever they gain attention in the media, their controversies behind their behaviour come to the for. You can have hard on concepts but still be innocent in image. Its that such innocence that I'm getting at. It definitely helps nong, and there's no doubt about it. I agree with everything else though. Like I say, hate is never justified & anti's better not use this to drag him down. That said, I can disappointed in him.

I've seen it on twitter as well. They believe he doesn't deserve the #7 spot which I guess is a fair opinion but the hate is remarkably toxic. There's never a justification for it. Not in nong's case, nor quanzhe's, nor bufans. Its just because it's a survival show, fans seems to be really emotionally vexed into tearing down others to propagate their faves. Which I think is such a shame when the boys have beautiful relationships with each other themselves

Ong was different because he didn't lie about his training period to compensate for his lack of abilities. His abilities were exceptional in themselves, so his lie wasn't used to gain anything. It's different for nong in my view but then again there is ambiguity regarding the truth behind the 2yr training period statement as well. Also I agree with you on the relationships thing 100%, that's not what my argument of his image was about. ​Also the comment on xukun doesn't apply because his abilities are what keeps the fans. He's not chosen as center for his good looks or cute/masculine/whatever personality, its his amazing talents in singing, dancing and even a bit of rapping. So that argument doesn't apply. If we look more closely to kpop's model; the cutesy image does work. Boygroups who adopt the image of seeming innocent (despite their concepts of hip hop or whatever) will always be favoured to those with scandals with perceived misdemeanour in behaviour (ie wonho/kihyun of monsta x). I don't like linong's craft of his image, but I guess you're right; they could all be lying tbh we never know. It's just with linong its more transparent, and hence the disappointment (not hate) at him is more so justified.

I agree for the most part, but in Bufan's case it's less of a 'use' and more of a luck that his personality suits so many people. He could have the same personality, but another demographic of fans could completely reject his 'charms' and hence not vote for him. In that way, his personality isn't being 'used' at all to propagate his ranking, though he's very lucky that the demographic enjoy his banter & votes accordingly. Nongnong's case is different, because it is put on. In this regard, if the demographic changed to favour a more masculine image, he himself could 'put on' that image to attain votes. Ultimately, he has been extremely calculative in the image he's chosen to craft because he's aware that it compensates for his inability and hence gains him votes. I think it's this sentiment that's gets me more; nongnong doesn't just want to be cute (which is a-ok), it's using an image to propagate him into high rankings. Of course most idols will do that, but this is a survival show & such dishonesty will get called out. That being said, hate is unjustified. Ultimately I can feel distasteful towards his actions, but hating is taking it a step too far. He's just doing what he can (despite being really disingenuous about it) to survive.

Hello bubs Also I get where you're coming from; it's stupid to actively hate on nongie for those reasons. That being said the issue with his image transcends just 'a lie'. His feign innocence almost compensates for his lack of ability, this certainly offers him an unfair advantage which he is entirely responsible for. Considering this is a survival show, behaviour which favours one trainee over another will absolutely result in a distaste for said trainee He can't really be compared to the likes of Bufan (who's abilities also aren't exceptional) because Bufan isn't preying on the 'maternal/motherly' instincts of fans to attain his votes. Bufan's natural charisma makes up for his errors in ability, therefore the votes he receives are less unfair because he doesn't 'put on' an image to attain them unlike with nongnong. Of course, you're right; this doesn't justify hate. However I think its unfair him and Quanzhe illicit such an adversely 'protective' response from fans, whilst the likes of He Dongdong are trashed on for the same reasons. This hypocrisy gets me more than anything, and those trashing trainees because they don't illicit pathos like Nongie or Quanzhe should stop. Don't get nasty to any trainee. Period.

I agree with this actually! I might add Ruibin into this too, but on all fronts their faces seem to match what is objectively considered beautiful (not just 'handsome' or 'pretty'). I can't wait to see how Lingchao's visuals fare as he gets older, he's going to KO every female fan on the planet Can I sinfully admit this too. Wow she is SO talented! Those little chibi drawings look adorable, I love the BC221 group drawing I'm really happy about the dorms too! In fact, the overall treatment of these trainees is beyond decent. It makes me worry how much Iqiyi is spending haha Everything about this show seems to put the trainees first; the mentoring, the performances, their training (despite the pressures, they aren't forced to over-exert themselves). Even when they're put into ranks, there's a general amiability in everything. It makes it so much more comfortable to watch as a viewer. So thank you Iqiyi! The guy who got blurred out had a rather bad controversy surrounding his previous comments/behaviour to women(?) My memory is really bad so hopefully someone else can go into detail for you. But yeah, he was kicked off early on so they had to blur him out. I hope to see you post more!
