Honestly who’s making this a competition? I don’t care in making myself some martyr in the hands of jype or the person who suffered the most after dealing with them so many years. Honesty who cares. We have reasons not to like them, we are not here carrying some anti agenda to pretend this change was amazing and that TBL is amazing. I also never said they treated Somi like shit either. We were literally only saying JYP THE PERSON was dismissive and never cared much for Somi. You can disagree though, that’s not a problem to me. Anyway not gonna discuss jype things anymore. It’s done, we can’t go back in time. I don’t even feel passionate about this enough to be going back and forth in a debate, so you’ll have to excuse me. When she left jype I was super sad bc her future was at stake, but what can I do? Not like I control things. I just hope for the best outcome when she debuts. And yes, I expect lots of promo once she debuts, but no artist keeps doing promo when they are working on debut/comebacks. They just focus on the work, on choreo, on video, etc. I have another artist I follow and he’s bound to come back around March and he’s just focusing on that and I don’t see a problem. It’s okay if you expect more things right now though, everyone ne has different expectations and that’s natural.

I shit on jype because I don’t like them, never did and I believe I’m free to say so and it’s not even to make myself feel better. It is what it is. I personally never said TBL is this sea of good things either, I just said I was happy she has a mentor to take her to a musical direction she WANTS. Now just because we don’t like jype (and jyp personally) doesn’t mean we can’t have criticism about TBL. Yes it would be lovely if she had more activities, but I’ll get to the complaining when the debut happens. I honestly don’t mind her staying out of the limelight until her debut tbh. For now, I can complain it’s taking too long though, which it is. And JYPE did a fancafe because they needed to organize her activities. She was MC and had some schedules, so they posted the bulletins so the fanclub could apply to her events. I don’t remember her doing vlives, when did it happen?

You speak my mind. Kpop is BURSTING with people. There’s always someone big unless you're super super lucky and happen to get an empty house. But more and more this is kinda rare. BESIDES you can’t really cherry pick dates bc you prepare and announce it today, then a huge ass group comes and announce they will come back in the same week and then what? But instead of thinking of competition, I have to wonder if this is not happening so it fits YG calendar. Like any of YG groups is coming back in March and they don’t want to overlap? I'm not sure, just wondering if YG will have this kind of interference in her calendar.... And about making perfect music... hum, they had more than enough time to prepare something high class unless they procrastinated and scrammed do everything at the last moment? I rather think they wouldn’t do that.

Somi seems really happy under Teddy's mentorship, so I’m happy too (although afraid for the future bc these companies are all lame at the end of the day). JYP never liked her a lot, and she was never one of this favorites even when she did better than the others during Sixteen. It’s funny because Somi is such an affectionate person but did she ever mention him as a mentor or anything like that? She mentioned Jun K way more than him. Who knows if they even saw each other regularly. I remember during that show the fan someone asked Junho what JYP thought of the trainee and Junho said... A little later JYP sent him a coffee truck when he never even acknowledged Junho before, he even posted that he wanted his daughter to be like Junho. He must have been embarrassed to be exposed as someone who doesn’t have contact with its artists and decided to do an 180. I remember when JYP heard Jun K's album he said he was surprised with his producing talents, as if they came out of nowhere . That means he didn’t help him along the way to hone his skills. I don’t mind companies behaving like companies and I guess it’s normal that this big shot in a company doesn’t have contact with his artists, but if Somi changed to an environment that’s more nurturing, an environment that will help her grow as an artist with a mentor that’s there for her, then I’m really happy for her.

Yeah, I know they have some events here and there (at least that). And iirc, they promoted super short for last time? I’m just afraid this type of tactic won’t work with Somi. I guess I’m just a bit apprehensive about everything since it’s her debut. Wish blackpink promotes more though. The fans are always begging and it sucks fans have to ask for the basic to any idol group

What’s done is done, now I’m more worried about other things. Will blacklabel go under the same restrictions as YG? Because as of now, they don’t go to mcountdown and music bank (and many award shows). I really wished she could promote everywhere for her and for her fans, who’ve been waiting for years now. I’m not sure she can afford to be like black pink, who doesn’t promote actively like other idols but still does really well anyway. Two of the biggest appearances Somi had in the last few months were on produce teaser (mnet) and music bank in Berlin (kbs). Hell, unnies was on KBS. All the networking she gained so far was in those two networks. But like people said, it’s not fair to compare idol soloist with idol groups. Not that we need to compare, but we must look at what female soloist such as Chungha, Sunmi, Hyuna are doing. These girls do a lot of radio and a lot of festivals (non televised) and even kcon, music bank in foreign countries, etc. That’s where they get their bread and butter and promote themselves (apart from the weekly shows) and if she won’t be able to do these things, that’s when I’ll start to worry.

It’s hard to say right now because we don’t know much, but judging by the teaser I’d say Itzy is going a bit of a weki meki style (it’s too early to tell but I have that impression) so I’m not to heartbroken about Somi not being part of this specific concept. Nothing wrong with it, but I kinda wanted something different? It’s very teen and I had the impression Somi would suit something different despite her young age. I really think they’ll invest in her international career at some point, so I’d say she might do something more international friendly. She likes dua lipa so much so I can see her having a sound like that song she did with black pink (song wise, not lyric wise)

I might be the minority, but none of this of my interest or concern anymore. I just wish Somi fans didn’t pay much attention to the trolls obviously training to gain traction using Somi's name. Let’s go our own (solo) path. Her debut is close!

I’m just saying it’s best be cautious, but by all means If she wants to post everything that goes through her mind she’s free to do so. It’s super sad. Last time when she got hate I couldn’t even sleep well. But Kpop stars really need to be super careful with everything. It’s sad and depressing, but I think it will be best for her well being if she just takes more care about her social media. I’ve been saying this ever since she said HK was a country and got lots of hate from Chinese :(
