I kinda do! tho it isn't super embarrassing So long before I got into K-POP around 2007-2008ish one of my Korean friends (her uncle used to work in SM or something I can't remember) gave me a calendar/planner thing with SNSD on it. I had no idea what K-POP was at that time so I was just kinda like "eh, it has people on it, I don't really feel like using it" so I just kinda put it away and never looked at it Fast forward until 2016ish when I first became a hardcore SONE and started playing a ton of SNSD music around the house, my mom found the planner and put it on my desk. I looked at it and kinda flipped through it and was like "eh this is from 2008 maybe I'll throw it away" and then I did a double-take and was like "HOLY SHIT IT'S SNSD SLDKFJSLDKFJ" too bad I can't use it anymore also I used to think Girls' Generation and SNSD were two different groups

I'm loving the Snowball Projects eps but tbh the duet so far doesn't sound like my cup of tea - the melody progression is kinda awkward to me but even so I do like the harmonies and it has SUNNY BUNNY in it so I hope my opinion changes when the full song drops also the whole twilight years "will you still love me when we're old and have wrinkles" is giving me major Thinking Out Loud vibes, which is almost never a bad thing feels like this post would be incomplete w/o a picture so somewhat relevant I still kinda see them as only friends though LOL

Those Snowball eps were golden! I now get what Seohyun meant when she said Sunny's the scariest when she gets angry. It's in light fun but I'd be scared too if she yelled "YA" at me LOL

This is great! I love vocal pedagogy and adore Sunny's voice. It just makes me melt - that head voice is gorgeous! Those performances of Beautiful Restriction are my absolute favorites. Another long post, but HAPPY 550 PAGES, FELLOW SUNSHINERS!! Here's to many more pages of Sunny appreciation! I love discussing idols a lot too! Though usually I can't find anyone to talk with, so I'm glad we're having a nice discussion here. I've already said almost everything that was on my mind in my last post, so I don't have much to add, but I definitely agree with what you're saying. I find her street-smartness and aptness at reading people really appealing. There are plenty of idols who flaunt/display their smarts, but Sunny's intelligence and maturity are shown through her actions (this isn't meant as a put-down to other idols). I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "grew into her professionalism" because she's always seemed very "pro" and hyper-aware to me, though tbh I haven't really watched the earliest varieties like Girls Go to School or Factory Girl. I made it about halfway through Hello Baby and she didn't really strike me as fake - then again I was pretty heavily Sooyoung biased when I watched it and was probably mainly focusing on her. Also, nothing to be embarrassed about - Sunny OWNS You Think. That sass, that fierceness, yaaaaaas Queen. Welcome!!! Post a lot here with us!! We won't bite! I agree! Sunny has always seemed to be quite extroverted to me though, or at least ambiverted instead of introverted. Perhaps it's because of her super large circle of celebrity friends and how she's able to click with pretty much everybody. They do play it up for the cameras but I wonder why Sunny would choose an energizer image if she wasn't at least a little bit like that in real life. I'm not quite sure about the "image management" thing, but didn't SM tell Sooyoung to stop doing her voice impressions and Yuri to stop doing her kkab dances? Not sure how many restrictions there were, but I agree that SNSD's lack of "image" is a bit part of their appeal. We love all sides of Sunny! I love how well she takes care of other people - especially my other bias group, Red Velvet. I keep replaying the vid of that prank call she did because it's so hilarious. It's also really heartwarming to see the amount of dedication you have for her, I'm sure she gains a lot of strength from having such devoted fans.

There's this mindset in KPOP where "if you're not the best at something, you're not talented", which gives all-rounders like Sunny the short end of the stick. She's shines a lot in variety shows but unfortunately people don't consider that a talent. What's interesting is that Sunny has the ability to steal all the spotlight because she's so entertaining and knows how to give the audience what they want, but she often takes a step back to let other people shine first. You can see it in Invincible Youth where she competes with Hara to give her more screen time, and most noticeably with Hyomin (which I'm glad blossomed from just a LOL-pairing to an actual beautiful friendship). She still got massive amounts of screentime in that show because other people were constantly trying to "play" with her (since she always knew how to react/respond), and also because she was just a badass who excelled at everything. In varieties with SNSD as a group, she's generally quieter and allows people like Sooyoung and Hyoyeon to steal the spotlight with their savage remarks. I agree that she was kind of hard on herself and worked very hard to prove her place in SNSD in her earlier years, but I think she matured really early on and is generally too down-to-earth to care about things like popularity. She was the only member who wasn't jealous of TTS activities, and the advice she gave on SNSD and the Dangerous Boys really demonstrates her maturity. “..But there will be destructions (not sure about this translation, maybe it was "obstructions") on your path, just like mine. But in my case, I have a lot of thoughts towards my debut.. Because we are a large newcomer from a large scale company, we received a lot of attention. While doing that… Can I just say it out? Short height, fat and with a normal life… I felt like shrinking after thinking about that. When I am doing activities as a group, Kim Jaedong oppa said a good thing to me. ‘There will be people who’ll see me well and there will be people who’ll see me bad. People can like me for something but people can also hate me for something. I will keep on thinking that I would not change for the people who do not like me." Another thing to note is that she seemed to kinda "lay low" in SNSD until approximately 2009 when SNSD blew up and she was casted for Invincible Youth. She never mentioned it herself and seemed kind of uncomfortable when people brought it up in variety shows. Rookies tend to get more hate and people were suspicious of her connections with LSM, so perhaps that was a wise decision. Pre-Gee I think all of SNSD's main focus was to bring more attention to the group, and post-Gee it was more of building individual popularity. Perhaps she was conscious of that and "lay low" for that reason, idk. I've heard someone say once that Sunny is like a chameleon - she blends in so seamlessly that it's almost scary. I think during their "peak", Sunny was very conscious of SNSD's image. Sunny's always seemed like an idol that was hyper-aware of the camera and the fact that she's an idol - hence her professionalism and better PR skills than half of SM's management team. However, "post-peak", at some point (I'd guess 2014ish), she probably doesn't feel the need to keep up that image and is more of herself. She said here that SNSD is past image management. Since people were so used to seeing the "pro" energizer aegyo Sunny, they forget that she's always been and think her personality has changed. I'd like to talk more about Sunny's image pre and post 2014, but this post is getting way too long.

Glad to see so many discussions on Sunny! I thought I was the only one spending hours reading things about her personality. If you guys aren't too busy, I'd love to have a discussion about this analysis of her personality made in 2010. I think she's changed quite a bit since then and I'd love to see what you guys have to say about it as fellow devoted Sunshiners She refused a role for a JTBC drama, apparently. Which is really sad, she would have been wonderful in a drama. I hope she at least does another musical. This quote is really heartbreaking. Despite the aegyo persona she had in SNSD's earlier years, she's always stricken me as someone who's seen too much and mature beyond her years. A lot of things happened to her during 2014-2015, but I'm really thankful to/proud of her for pushing through and always smiling for SONEs. She seems genuinely happy this comeback, which is the best gift for us ever <3 It's too bad that the promotions were cut so short with SM being hella shady. ---- To me, Sunny has chemistry with basically almost every guy but in a friendly, playful kind of way? She's just really easygoing in general. It was revealed in Roommate that she's had multiple relationships (iirc, when asked about how many guys she's dated, she said "you want me to count?"), both serious and non-serious, but she's proclaimed to be "the non-marrying type". Which is a shame, cuz we all know she'd be an awesome mother.

Kind of irrelevant, but I was doing research for school when I came across this: Yale conducted a study in 2013 and discovered that people have violent physiological reactions to cute things. Participants in the study used violent imagery to describe their feelings toward pictures of “adorable†animals, and when given bubble wrap to manipulate while looking at the pictures, participants popped significantly more bubbles on average when looking at cute animals, indicating a more violent physical reaction to those images.
