According to media outlet reports on October 11, Shinhwa member Hyesung (Jung Pil Kyo, 43) was found sleeping in an allegedly stolen vehicle, and also refused request by police to administer a breathalyzer test. In the early hours of October 11, the Seoul Songpa Police Station received a report that a vehicle was parked in the middle of a road. The police soon arrived on the scene and discovered a man sleeping inside the vehicle, and requested that the man cooperate for a breathalyzer text. However, the man refused, and he was arrested on October 11 at 1:40 AM KST. Once the man, whose identity was revealed as Shinhwa member Hyesung, was brought in, police further discovered that the vehicle he was in had been reported as stolen. The vehicle owner told the police, "I do not know this man,"when asked about their relationship to Hyesung. Singer Crush has come under fire after video and testimony emerged of him seemingly refusing to shake the hands of two Black fans while performing at a recent event even while he did with the rest of the audience around them. Certainly it appears to be a terrible look from him, and it’s understandable they felt hurt and that the backlash is severe. And it’s perhaps especially surprising since back in 2020 he was one of the most clearly outspoken against anti-Black racism. Nothing would surprise me regarding racism in Korean entertainment at this juncture, and the only thing I wondered about was whether the others are wearing those gloves that Korea is still mandating at events for COVID reasons, which could make some sense. Cause otherwise this is truly a baffling decision for him, like even if he harbors those prejudices, just for doing something this blatant is nuts. Either way, there’s enough backlash at this point where I wonder if he might make a statement, either to explain what happened or to make an apology, and I’d be interested in hearing it since the video certainly isn’t great. —— Update Crush has responded on Instagram, saying he did this action as a safety precaution, but not related to any COVID protocol. ONF Aside from their only foreigner member, all 5 of them enlisted in December last year. The ongoing issue of BTS’s military service may come to a conclusion by the end of this year. On October 5, Minister Park Bo Kyun of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) attended the National Assembly’s parliamentary inspection of the administration and announced that the issue of BTS’s military service will be decided by December of this year. During the parliamentary audit, People Power Party member Lee Yong Ho requested Minister Park to actively review the issue of BTS’s military service. In response to this, Minister Park replied, “Member Jin’s enlistment is set to be sorted out by December, but the MCST will finalize our stance as soon as possible before then.” Minister Park added, “We are comprehensively reviewing the issue by looking at various aspects including the points that national defense is a sacred duty, military service is a symbol of fairness, BTS has made Korea known as the vanguard of K-culture and created a huge economic ripple effect, there are equity issues between popular artists including BTS and those who practice fine arts, this will affect the group when one of the BTS members joins the army, there are [results of] public opinion analysis and opinions of men in their 20s, and so on.” Jin, the eldest member of BTS, was born in 1992 and is currently 29 years old. He must enlist in the military according to the 2020 amendment to the Military Service Act. If the amendment to the Military Service Act which is currently pending in the National Assembly is passed, the BTS members will be freed from military service obligations. However, if this special exception does not apply, Jin will have to enlist in the military early next year. After that, the remaining BTS members must also enlist. Source

TV personality Park Soo Hong was reportedly transported to the hospital after being assaulted by his father during his cross-examination at the prosecutor's office. On October 4 at 10AM KST, Park Soo Hong was scheduled for a cross-examination with his brother, who was recently arrested on charges of embezzlement, at the Seoul Western District Prosecutor's Office. There, Park Soo Hong's father and brother were both in attendance. According to a representative from Park Soo Hong's side, Park Soo Hong's father hit Park Soo Hong several times during the cross-examination, while saying threatening words such as "I will k*ll you with a weapon", and more. Police officers and an ambulance were quickly dispatched to the scene of the unexpected assault in the prosecutor's office. Park Soo Hong was then rushed to the hospital on the ambulance. Currently, the extent to Park Soo Hong's injuries is unknown. Meanwhile, Park Soo Hong's brother was recently arrested for stealing millions of dollars from the Comedian/TV personality. Source

'Produce 101' contestant Jung Joong Ji has taken his own life. On September 20, Jung Joong Ji's mother revealed her son had passed away on Twitter. She wrote, "This is Jung Joong Ji's mother. My son took his own life. I can't describe how I feel right now." According to the late singer and actor's mother, Jung Joon Ji died on the 9th, just 4 days after his 30th birthday.
