  1. All of what is being said, needs to be said again, and put into stone.

JYPE has a few issues (which is standard to be honest when a company is running the entire careers for several different acts, including soloist inside groups), but for people to act like Sugar has not been getting a good promo run...all lies. Like since April (April 13?) these girls have been on promo run (pre-release single Can't Hide It, and then a full album in Sugar), and even if their album promotion is over, they still working. That's almost two months alone. Like they are active right now.

JYPE are actually doing what people claim they don't do.

  2.

If You Want and Lead Me are two of my fav Sistar songs, Hey You is good too, I think all of these were produced by Double Sidekick(they also produced songs like Falling, Closer and Red Lipstick) I actually think they produce better sidetracks than title tracks. It should be interesting to see what Sistar brings to the table next. Dasom changed her haircolour to dark red and Soyou's hair is lighter I think. They probably won't change Bora's hair until she's done with her drama and they better not ruin Hyorin's already nice hairstyle lol. These coming weeks should be interesting.

I am so sorry for not responding to your message on youtube earlier! Let me go do that.

    Also!!!!!

    YAS!!!!

And just in time for their impending comeback.

Double Sidekick's tracks have been meh. They did all three of the solo tracks for Jiyeon, Hyunsung, and G.Na, and they were okay but nothing worth really going crazy over (though Good Night Kiss is a jam). Do we even know who is producing their next song. I kind of wish Starship/Loen would get them hook up with the dudes that did Miss A's Hush and SNSD's Gee. Their sound is more evolved and focused than your standard Brave Bros/Double Sidekick. Like I didn't even know they were created by the same producers and they sound different from each other.

I like Hyorin's hair, but I am always a fan of extravagance. I hope she promotes with the extensions with the wave style...

  3. right? I really miss the festival fancams lol but at least Hyorin gets that much needed rest for her voice and in general from all the ongoing promotions , especially from last year(Sistar19,Sistar and her solo debut)

tell me about it. I'm hoping for a change in song theme. I'm pretty sure Brave will produce their next song #sigh but he gave them songs like 'How Dare You' and 'So Cool' so hopefully he'll leave that depression mode and give Sistar some fierce song. Also, I've been thinking, now since Loen is backing them up and with Boyfriends's recent multiple MV promo, I can't help but think of the possibility of us getting several MV's for their new tracks. Also, IU's 'Modern Times' is a pretty good album, hopefully with Loen involved Sistar will get an even more solid album. There were rumors of their next being a summer song, I don't like 'Loving U' but won't mind a good summer song(that's better than 'Loving U' lol)

I just...don't want another sad love song. Like even if it is a song like If You Want, or Lead Me, I will be perfectly okay with that. It would be great if they got another Hey You (which in my opinion could have been the lead single). It would be insulting if Sistar did not get some sort of extensive promo like Boyfriend did. They are a bigger cash cow than Boyfriend (one of the few examples of a girl group outselling a boygroup). On the other hand, they don't necessarily need it compared to Boyfriend. I mean IU is kind of more lucrative and she didn't get more videos. Loving U was cute for what it was, but nah...let's leave that as a one time thing.

  4. I'm really just realizing how integral the festival circuit was. Normally we would have a few fancams of Sistar, or even Hyorin right now at some random event, but since they put it on hold...hm...That is the way many acts who don't have the privilege to tour get to make their money.

Since we know Sistar is coming back, I pray we don't get another sad break up song, and that the album/ep will have a more mature/evolved sound. I think they make good songs, and I have loved the albums, but I wouldn't mind if they (Sistar, Starhsip, whomever) really focused on making a tight album.

  5. *Coming out of lurking*

I don't know what is happening in the main thread because...no thank you. I don't think Minzy has a limited range, but with what has been giving from YG and what she has shown, that is all we can get. Her range as shown spans like two octaves. I honestly doubt she can't go lower/higher, she just doesn't

I think while YG has done their best to make it seem like 2ne1 is this on the edge type of group, their music and choreo are really safe. You don't see them doing vocal gymnastics (or anymore), and you don't see them doing any elaborate choreo. It helps because it allows everyone in the group to work on the same playing field, but it also doesn't give us a full idea of what everyone can do.

  6. Im intrigued in knowing their strengths. It shouldn't be that hard finding his range. . . Wait but a bad vocalist can have a really wide range. I know range has nothing to do with skill buh can it be wide to an extent? Ig it's possible cos someone can have an extremely extremely wide range but hit all of those notes dreadfully lulz.

Not to sound mean, but Christina Aguilera exist.

  7. IF EVERYONE CAN ANSWER THIS PLEASE, LURKERS U TOO

So I have been working on new videos and some of them are getting quite long, I'm just curious how long do u guys think VR videos should be?? I mean, at which point do u think it gets unnecessarily long?? tks~

Personally I have no issues sitting through long (15+ minutes, which is the max for some people anyway) vids if I am into whomever it is for.

    But that's me.

However for studio range based vids usually 10 as a cap, but on average 5-7 minutes in length.

Live based videos are basically the same, but I see some go up to like 10-12 (usually because they like to lead up to the notes or have a special moment they want to highlight, plus interludes to different sections which can add up to over a minute by itself)

If you are not pushing even above 15 it is not bad. But also you would be surprised how many people would sit through a long video if they like the artist.

  8. I love Jimin' personality as well. But if she wants to reach a greater public then perhaps toning it down and/or using it strategically might become a factor. And no. Jimin should equally be placed on singing shows like Yerin. It is a slippery slope - I don't want Jimin to be cast as the comedic relief/gag at the cost of being seen as a sincere singer - I can see the easy error by the public to seeing Yerin as the singer and Jimin as the joker. They both have great voices. I am not saying Jimin shouldn't MC but she shouldn't equally be seen as a singer via music shows. I think Yerin is the one perhaps who needs to show more personality and be placed as a MC as she is relatively shy/withheld. I think right now they should do equal parts music and X(etc) and in time to diverge into their strengths.

I do agree with Jimin needed to tone it down, and Yerin needing to step it up. In both videos Jimin basically stole the show, and while it came off excessive, it didn't help that Yerin seemed a reserved.

And ultimately they need that one song. Even if they get on the variety circuit, you don't want to be the group that is known for separate members on everything else but their day job musically. And it seems the song will open to more opportunities and such.

  9. i Think the biggest issue is that they can't get on the public's overall goodside, and that is based off of both luck and some good marketing skills.

Their promotional activities are limited to things that will appease their fanbase (youtube and such), with radio appearances being the furthest thing to getting to the masses overall. However this only gets them so far. They need to go on shows where all kinds of people would watch. They really need to step out more on the variety circuit. Jimin may be extra at times, but she has the timing and presence for someone who could kill on tv.  Yerin's biggest strengths are solely in her musical abilities, so send her places where she can sing often. Hyorin basically gained most of her recognition off of IS2, which would be the smartest place for a singing focused idol.

Also the festival circuit would be a goldmine for new fans in my opinion. At the very least it would be a reliable income for the girls. However I am not sure if that is an option right now.

Then there is just the matter they need that one song. A Tell Me, or a Gee at the highest example. Those songs basically propelled their groups to massive heights. At the very least they would need a song like Alone or 24 Hours: big songs that while not to the same level as other, really put the Sistar and Sunmi on the map hard.
  10. They just performed.

Just off of first impressions, I like the song. It's cute, fun, flirty, but they handle it so well. I do think the stage was a lil clunky, but that's just first stage mumbo jumbo, plus I wasn't a total fan of the camera work. But I am liking the song and the idea of the stage. and now I want the album.

  11. I think I know where she took the picture.  You know how the JYP building is covered by huge posters of their artists? I think Yerin was behind the GOT7 one.

I agree. The only stage I liked was Kpopstar and after that their performances may have been affected by Sewol and everything. I hope they will grow more as performers. I think Can't Hide It is a song where they need to know how to engage the audience.

I don't think they are bad performers, necessarily. It's just this era, and it may be because of what happened. Plus they also might be a little preoccupied with getting the album ready (whatever part they may have in that).

  12. But before the Sewol incident it was fine to me so Kpop star 3 performance was excellent in that regard but I liked their Inkigayo stage seem to be the only one and the first MCountdown stage that whole show was somber and the one with Yerin sitting I did not like.

First off I just want to say that I am not saying this to be contrary or mean or whatever. Just an opinion of mine.

I'm just talking about as a whole. I like some of the performances (of the four performances that we got, sans the radio perfs, which I like more than the stages), but overall in terms of energy and just overall vibe, right now Can't Hide It is lacking in my opinion. They didn't get choreography or massive stage, that leaves it to just them, and I think they are not giving it their all. The song is very chill, and mellow of course, but I still think they should be vibrant. I personally am not getting that from them. I like some of the performances, and of course the era has just begun, but I'm really hoping they pick up.

Also once again, the era really just started. Hopefully I will change my mind

  13. Okay so we are getting an actual album and not a mini album. Praise whomever.

I know it's going to be a pop and R&B mix, and I am wishing for some solo songs. Establish them as a group and as individual singers.

I haven't been the biggest fan of their stages simply because there isn't much to do. I don't blame JYP on this (although they could have given them a lil choreo), or overall the staging. I think 15& just needs to be a lil more engaging on their own. I think the mark of a good performer is to be able to handle the stage with as little as possible. Their energy should *help* drive the performance.

    But that's just me.

  14. @whispershuzzy so what are good/best for you?

Are you talking about my favorite collaborations/duets?

Diamonds. Even though Hyorin was in big voiced mode, I liked that no one was really running this performance. Plus they sound great together.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK-U-v7n8lo

I think this was great because it required Hyorin to have to work with K. Will. So it wasn't like she was just singing her parts, and then him. They actually had to harmonies. Plus I love the song.

Not the cleanest in my opinion, because I think her partner was on another level than she was musically at the time (and she was redoing Tamia's parts verbatum), but at the same time it worked, and it was nice to see Hyorin in a situation where she was not in the lead vocally (Even though she overpowered him a couple of times). The video for this one went missing.

My other favorite is the one she did with Yungjae of 4men on IS2.

I also liked her recent collab set with that one rock group. It was messy, but Give It To Me was really nice and their energies matched well, I wished both acts had come together more so but eh well.

  15. I think some people misunderstood Hyo when she doing some collab.I mean whenever she doing a collab she always doing it with a RAPPER such as ZICO,MC,DYNAMIC DUO.Since when this hip hop artist singing? When they were doing the collab they just singing their own part,no harmony at all.Go hear AKMU MELTED song and you will definitely know what harmony is.That guy always back up that girl voice but with low tone to balance it.So far I see Hyo never doing a collab that bring harmony she just doing a collab that singing her own part.SO DONT JUDGE HYO COLLAB BY SAYING SHE DOESNT BRING A HARMONY WHEN COLLAB.Judge Hyo only when we can see a performance that only 2 people singing. And then we can judge it weather Hyo outshine her partner or she can manage to balance it.The LA performance is just nice but no harmony.I bet they just practice their own part without even care about harmony cuz they have no time.Sorry for the long text I suddenly become emotional.

I get your opinion but this is my opinion. To me MadHyo without you is good.Hyo powerful vocal and MC rap it goes really well. And the LA performance with Jun k and Hyo part you find messy is bcuz both of them have such a powerful vocal. They cant connect with each other meanwhile Soyou who have low tone vocal absolutely can get along with powerful voice.I think at some part Jun k voice is so loud that almost Hyo voice cant be hear.To sum this all is 2 Power vocal would not bring harmony together.Just my opinion no offense.

Let me change something: I am not going to say Without You is good or bad...I think it is a well made song, and while I may not be here for Mad Clown like that, I think he did well. Hyorin sounded nice in her parts...however I straight up didn't like it for several reasons, one being I just didn't think Hyorin worked well in that song. Like they look cute together in the behind the scenes things, but then I have watched performances, and I like them independently, but them together just wasn't clicking for me. After the third one I was over it.

I should have said that instead. So my bad.

I still stand by my statement that Hyorin is not a good duet partner. And I am not saying that to be mean, or anything. I am saying that as someone who has watched as many performances by her as I could, to listen and appreciate her as a vocalist and an artist. And this is one of the things I think is a weakness for her, which I tie in with a bigger thing.

This is also not about just rap collabs (Which Hot Wings is one of my favorite things she has done, lets not get this twisted), this is mostly focused on her singing when she is with others. The many performances with K. Will, Ailee, the ones on IS2. I am looking at those because they give insight to her as a singer and how well she adjust to not only the song but her partner(s). Like I said I liked Let It Go (Despite that one high note at the end done by Ailee...it just clashed with Hyorin), and I like some of her duets/collabs, and I think she is getting better. However I think she is used to leading instead of having to play off of someone and it shows at times.

But that is just an observation I had and been thinking about.

  16. It was more of a general question though I don't disagree that Luther is a god. I've listened to him since I was 13 or 14. I remember hearing he had died. :(

Oh I just didn't want to give you anything and it be false. I only know Phil Collins for his work on Tarzan, and the occasional song he has done that I recognize. I am not a fan nor do I listen to his work regularly, so I can't speak for him. Same for Elton, however someone asked about him, and it was said that Elton was more of a songwriter that sings as he doesn't really do much.

    *Kanye shrug*

    Never hurts to try

It sounds like Sam Cooke was at least decent. His lower register sounded nice, especially B2 and up (but at least his G2-A2 were audible and did not sound like they were struggling or pulling down). There is this scratchy quality to his belts...it wasn't annoying and wasn't always evident...I don't know. I kind of want to say he was throaty in that video, some of the belts just didn't feel as completely open as they could have been (comparing to other male vocalist who have more open moments)...but that's just me. But I think it is like Hyorin now, where it isn't a sign of bad technique (at least I don't think it is..could very well be wrong), but more so bad habits that affected the quality of the voice overall.

  17. He is glorious but I do love me some other people (Michael Bolton), etc.

Actually can I ask your opinions on the following people

    Phil Collins

    Elton John

I'm not one of the vocal experts, just a lurker.

So I couldn't give you an accurate anything about them.

  18. Been awhile...

Has there been a video for that concert they did recently where they were in black?

Also WIthout You is kind of bad. By bad I mean boring. I mean I find Mad Clown meh anyway, but at least that song with Soyu worked well. Hyorin however...she just doesn't connect for me. I think a lot of it stems from Hyorin being a bad duet/collab partner. Like I don't think I have actually enjoyed many of her collabs/duets she has done as a whole. I like her parts, and other parts, but for the most part...nah.

She too much of a leader to follow and that hurts her in those cases. I also think it has a lot to do with her musical wit, and she generally just follows what is given instead of adapting, which may also include a partner. She is getting better. That Let It Go performance with Ailee was nice enough. But then there was the performance in LA with 2PM...and I hated her section with Jun K. Too messy on so many ends. She was clean with her parts, but when they tried to sing together, no coordination, no harmonies, and she didn't even try to adapt to him. I am not saying she should do all the work, but I think this is a weakness for her. In that same performance Soyu adapted to both Wooyoung and Jun K.

It just a thing that bothers me with Hyorin.
