  1. I think going independent is a good solution if you can hustle. She's gonna have to develop her own team (an assistant, a manager, etc.) and be smart about money.

I wish Korea was bigger on touring because a lot of independent acts rely on that.

I'm actually excited. I never had an issue with a Starship like that, but she is entering a new stage in her career.

  2. OK so, I read the statement someone posted above, I took a couple days and read it again...and I'm actually feeling kind of angry. I was wondering if there was something I'm missing or not fully understanding, so if there is please let me know, but I just wanted to get this out.

It seems like the reason they are disbanding is because they are not popular anymore, which I kind of don't understand because they did really well with their last comeback (which I know doesn't mean everyone loves them again, but it can lead to greater interest in the future) and started to gain some of their popularity back. Then, what they said in regards to Yenny and Sunmi not resigning doesn't make sense to me. They both said they wanted to have more solo activities and Yenny wanted to become a more serious singer/songwriter. I 100% get that, but haven't both of them already started down that path with their solo careers? I mean both of them were able to release music as solo artists under JYP, it seems like the company was willing to give them solo promotions in the future, especially Sunmi considering how well her solo did. I don't get why they would want to leave and find other companies to have solo activities under when they've already been given solo activities under JYP and because it seems like the company has given them the ability and freedom to do everything themselves, write, produce, etc. It seems like for some reason no one thought that they could give the Wonder Girls members solo activities while they were still in Wonder Girls moving forward and in order to get solo promotions they needed to disband the group altogether which makes 0 sense to me. The other reason is because they said they didn't want to have fans wait for them to release material. Honestly, as many of us have said, I would not care if I had to wait 3/4 years for another WG album. I don't understand why they thought disbanding the group altogether seemed to be the best option.

Idk if I'm being selfish, I feel like I am. It just seems like the girls just wanted to stop being in a group indefinitely which kind of makes me think there won't be any sort of reunion in the future. It would be different if they went on a hiatus and said the members were going to focus on solo activities for the next few years and then plan on coming back as WG at a latter date. But this just seems like the members didn't want to do it anymore and WG is completely over, but they still want to do music just in the form of solo acts, which once again idk why you couldn't do both. I honestly would have felt better if they had decided to disband because they wanted to start a family or didn't want to do music anymore. That would have made sense and I would have completely understood. Heck, it would have made more sense if there were internal issues between the members, which I thank the Lord there hasn't been, but it would have made the news of disbandment actually make sense. But it seems like they were tired of being in a group and wanted to sacrifice the group so they could do solo promotions which I don't understand because the two members that left already had solo promotions and it seemed like they were planning on doing more solo promotions and you could always just put the group on hiatus again which I feel like would have been a better option.

I'm sorry this was so long and I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings about this cause I know this is hard for all of us, I just really needed to get this out. Like I said, if I'm missing something or not understanding something or there is more to this, then please tell me, but as of now that's how I feel.

I firmly believe that it was a matter of business. Everything we heard about this was mostly about how their careers were going. You're not popular enough->lack of attention from company->not as much work coming in. We know that JYPE can get people jobs, so it's not like they couldn't. Day6 is literally getting a release every month with a concert of sorts. If that isn't something I don't know what. We also know some people on their roster are kind of just waiting around for their next release. Yeeun and Sui were probably offered a deal, but it didn't meet their demands so they kicked rocks.

Yeeun and Sunni may have released solo albums...but that was in 2014. It's been three years since either have done a solo project (not countin Yeeun's collab with yuonha and Cheetah). Like it isn't like they were being put on OSTs, collabs, etc. or acting or mcing constantly. It also wasn't like they weren't doing anything (we got photo shoots, shows, etc.) but obviously it wasn't enough to satisfy Yeeun and Sunni. Which is perfectly fine. They shouldn't just be grateful for a "creative space", especially when the fruit of their labor isn't being released. That doesn't pay bills or further their careers.

As for Lim and Yubin: I think they just didn't want to risk it. If what is said about Lim is true she is going to be a full time student so her overall career isn't really changing. Yubin is the one I don't understand, but I assume she didn't want to risk it as well.

Also I just think they included the fan thing to look emotional and nice.

I just think there is nothing personal about this, or if it is, all the business side kind of eclipse it. If Yeeun and Sunni did not like what they had or what they were given and JYPE were not going to accommodate that why should they stay?

  3. I was also thinking, the WOnder GIrls still get along quite well with JYP himself, right? I mean, idk, it seems everyone does (Like Jia still has pics with him after JYP and such idk).

So... Is there any posibility at all JYP could possibly end SUnmi's contract sooner if she wished? Or is that just not done in this industry?

Her personal relationship with him doesn't translate to her relationship with the company. There is likely an unseen group of individuals who handle this
  4. So quick question before I head off to work. It looks like Studio J has started to allow its artists to go on music shows: Day6, Jo Kwon, Baek A Yeon/Fei/Wonder Girls (if this current release was part of them). GSoul seems to take the festival route. Yerin has stated she felt uncomfortable on stage/broadcast. Do you think Jimin is holding off from going on music shows to mirror 15& partner Yerin or does JYPE still think non-idols can't appear on the shows? And I truly mean no slight to anyone but it was a question I could shake.

Doubt it. Also at this point Studio J is less of a separate entity and more so of a promo tactic for "real artistry" and convenient place holding for non-idols. Plus WG and Fei and Jo Kwon (up for debate but eh) are still idols. Just because that J studio logo got slapped on to their work doesn't mean much.

As for Jimin...eh. They didn't do much for her with Hopeless love. Out of all their non-idols Baek Ah Yeon has done the most in terms of traditional idol promo but that likely has more to do with the fact that she has two certified hits to her name and less to them willing to try.

  5. SPICA'S Bohyung performed Across The Universe (Yerin's song) on Girl Spirit

I'm really excited for Jimin's comeback. I'm hoping that it isn't some drab ballad, but right now I can't be picky. Jimin had a hand in the music and her music taste has always been fun, but I always fear that means "I need to be super serious to be taken seriously"

  6. Dead Thread

Hyolyn's photoshoot for Eastern Trends Magazine and voted as Diva of KpopCUsGkfBUkAAS0kV.jpgCUsGkfDUsAAOsOf.jpgCUsGkfEVAAA4-TW.jpgCUsGkjzUEAATbmV.jpg

This was a great shoot, sans the black and white outfit. Her pose, the smile...she was serving and then there is that.

Also I am very excited about the new song with Jooyoung and Bumkey. And with it being produced by Da Internz, I'm hoping for something...good. I wasn't in love with Erase at first because it sounded a way that I was not completely fond of. It grew on me though.

A Jooyoung and Hyorin duet album would be nice.

As for the rest of what has happened in 2015...MEH. Shake It was underwhelming and generic (though it did grow on me), Sistar are in a rut in terms of music, and the last half of 2015 was pretty much a mess. Hyorin didn't need Unpretty Rapstar, and there was no reason for her to be there other than the drama it would bring, and she got eclipsed by Truedy for that. We could have gotten a full album from the group, another solo comeback from Hyorin, or something, but no...we got URS.

I got high hopes for HyorinxJooyoungxBumkey though...hopefully this will be a good send off for 2015

  7. its the way its always been actually... even back in the 2000s my older sister loved Rain and got interested in him because he came from the same company as g.o.d .. I personally do not 'love" every artist from JYPE... I've always been more biased towards the girls but even when comparing the artists with others.. I was always biased towards 2PM and now GOT7 when compared to others.. maybe its because they're more familiar to me???

and as for fandom power... its absolutely incredible the lengths fans will go to support their biases .. and I think its part of the whole "fandom experience" which is why I don't mind it since its not the company's doing [chart manipulation]

I actually think this year has been MUCH better for 15&.... they both had quite a few solo promotions ... Yerin with Olltii and San E and Jimin with her solo and Eric Nam.. all thats missing is a 15& comeback to close the year and a yerin solo next year

First off I want to say that I am just using your response as an excuse to vent so don't take this as me coming for you

See I thought this year was going so well, especially since last year they had been performing more (we got a lot of performances from them). But after IS2 (which they got a positive reception from), things just went south. Yeah Jimin got a solo, but she did what? Yerin got a few collabs, but then she fell off. I was so happy to see her on Unpretty Rapstar because that could open her up to a new audience, and then Olltii happened, and San E...and then she disappeared, which could have very much been her decision.

My problem is that the beginning of the year started off really well because it seemed like a constant outflow of content, then it just became Jimin every week on ASC with a gig here and there.

Whatever the reason as to why (and it is probably multiple ones), 15& just slowly fell off on what started as a rather good year.

  8. I'm really not surprised that MoMo made it, but I do find it messy. I'm wondering if they (JYP and the people that put this group together) planned on bringing MoMo back. I doubt it. Like someone else said, she was probably a last minute addition (probably because she is older and would have left).

But congragulations to them. I know fans of the other girls are mad, and it is what it is.

Also I lowkey find it naive to hold on to that 2017 group. It may happen or it may not. But I'm guess some of them are going to bounce (particularly Jiwon and Minyoung considering they are older and can sing).

But this is TWICE's moment and I hope everything goes well (even though I know it won't)

I just want my Jihyo and Chaeyoung badges.

EDIT: That serves no purpose line was about Chaeryeong due to the fact that MoMo was back in the running. I deleted that part because it came out too mean and forgot to delete that part...just in case anybody read that part.

  9. It's been a minute. Anyway, SIXTEEN posted a new dance cover featuring the eliminated parties. What is important (to this thread) is that you can hear Yerin in the background singing in a different room.

    http://tvcast.naver.com/v/431189

It sounds like Right There from the bits of the bass that we can hear, but I don't think she is singing English lyrics. Anyway it's just nice to hear her.

  10. She is giving summertime and breezy. I love the hair color on her. I love how it is much more mature than Good boy, while not being as drowsy looking as her more serious stuff. I want a fun ass pop song with good vocals, and I hope this is where this is going. If it is a ballad, I'll live...but I really don't want a ballad.

  11. oh yeah, we know that Hyolyn didn't pay for the full thing, for me it's just confusing because whenever asked about a comeback she always says things like, "it costs a lot of money/I have to save up first" I feel like, unless a person 100% finances everything and is their own boss, their's no way that they have the final say on everything.

I get what you are saying. It's not impossible, really, but it does depend on how much you are contributing. For me I think it runs deeper than the financial aspect. I truly don't believe Hyorin had/has that kind of pull at the moment. So unless she is now doing a project that is completely unrelated to Starship...she may put in money for this and that, but eh

(Basically reiterating what has been said)

However we do not know what she is doing right now. She very well may be financing her project while it is in the creative process, and then sending it to Starship to get their approval to help with all distribution things. But we will never know until we see them album credits. And usually this can take months if you don't have a time limit and are looking to spread your funds resources.

  12. I doubt Hyorin paid for everything. Unless she knew how to cut corners, she was more than likely assisted by Starship when it counted. Even Beyonce took a 50 million dollar deal and spent it on one album (music and videos) and a tour. Albums are expensive. You have producers, any collaboration (which there are contractual agreements in that as well), studio time (if you don't own your own), a sound engineer to help get the entire sound just right, writers, etc. Then there is the videos (paying the director, renting spaces, an entire crew meant just to edit, and set up and stuff).

Hyorin is no where near struggling but to fully finance an album (and it's videos, photoshoot, etc.) by herself...nah.

Edit: Let me use the word project instead of an album. I don't know if she did or did not pay, but I doubt Starship was just going to let her do an entire album without their input/money

  13. Jimin Park  - "Hopeless Love" Teaser Image

    FUCK IT UP!!! YAS!

I won't even be mad that it's going to be a dreary ass ballad.

Also I think this year has kind of started in the right direction for them. Love Is Madness did well without promo or a music video. Yerin has gotten three collaborations down (the one with Jidam, Otilli, and I think Taecyeon is coming up), as well as people actually wanting to work with her. Jimin on the Airang roster as an official MC, and Immortal Song 2, which I hope leads into them getting put on the show permanently (do they even still do that?).

I really do want Yerin to get a solo as well.

And even though I said Jimin will probably get a ballad, I really want them to do some sort of pop song. Like Tori Kelly is pretty much pop, but she isn't a pop star like artist.
