So I was just listening to Ma City, where Suga mentioned how he keeps referencing Daegu in every album. And it's making me wonder, is Wings the first album since 2 Cool 4 Skool that Suga doesn't name-drop Daegu somewhere?

All this talk about not getting hopes up for the MAMA awards, hm. Makes me think of that quote "pessimism never won any battles" To be fair, being blindingly optimistic is probably not the smartest thing to do. But BTS themselves had to have been stupid optimistic to try and become musicians. And they never gave up even with all the sketchy entertainment industry stuff that probably shits on them every day and twice on Sundays. A more realistic BTS probably be in or graduating college by now. Realistic is understandable, but why are we trying so hard to keep ourselves grounded when BTS made Wings?

Since we're talking about nicknames, I have a related curiosity. What did you nickname the members before you memorised their names/faces, and why? Rapmon - Leader (tbh I remembered his face/name right away, but I didn't want to say "Rap Monster" b/c it was too lame lol) Jin - Mario (my friend, who introduced me to BTS, told me he liked mario) Suga - Cheerleader (Jump Showcase performance, at 0:40 sec mark)* JHope - Underground Dancer (b/c my friend told me so) Jimin - Red Hair guy (b/c Dope. But naming him by hair color was not a dope idea....) V - ??? (can't remember. He didn't really make an impression. Sorry Tae T_T) Jungkook - Perfect (vocal line, dance line, visual line, rapper, maknae, etc. I'll still stand by this nick today ) * This glorious performance. Suga looked so good. Everyone looked so good. Now that I know who they are, I just call them by their stage/actual names (Though rapmon gets variants)

Yeah, I've always been an individual stan. I tried that with BTS but. Also, since I like listing/ranking stuff, I've always been one to maintained a firm, well defined, and stable bias list. I tried that with BTS too, but they were like Bangtan is terrible for this particular neurosis... For those of you guys who lives in the US (or in the same shipping zone? idk), around how much is shipping, generally? Also, is there a particularly good place to buy kpop stuff? Or are most of the sites (yesasia, kpoptown, ??) all generally the same? I've never brought K-pop stuff past songs on iTunes, but I'm really thinking of getting the 2015 Memories DVD. So I'd appreciate it if you'd be kind enough to use tiny words to explain this brave new world to me

It'll just be speculation, of course, but I still think it's an interesting thing to speculate about, especially in a pretty mature/warm environment that's this thread. But yeah, fair enough, you make a good point.

I think we're preaching to the choir talking about how we should appreciate how much BTS appreciates international fans here (on the OH main thread). I mean, it should totally be appreciated, and I won't list out all the things they have done/is doing to spoil int fans just 'cause you guys have it on lock and it'll take too long to list. But imo BlondeJin brings up a good point that people in this thread is ignoring. Twitter kids are being immature, entitled, and childish, yes. But from a marketing perspective, it was, I also think, a bit of a misstep for them to make their preference for Korean quite so obvious. Is it stupid to complain that BTS (who are Korean) prefers to speak in Korean? Of course. Fans on the more mature end of the spectrum will see and understand this immediately. But just because something is stupid/entitled/childish doesn't make it any less real. And a sizeable portion of BTS' fandom IS comprised of these childish fans. They're the ones going around on every platform spamming BTS, which is an incredible amount of free promotion and valuable to the product that is BTS, among other things. I think (and lmk if this is totally not what you mean) the question BlondJin is trying to bring up isn't "is BTS not catering to international fans enough", but more "is BTS being aware enough of the environment they are operating in and taking the necessary steps to establish themselves in a wide, volatile, and sensitive market." Which I think is a question that BTS and BigHit is absolutely considering all the time, and is also something that will be worthwhile to debate about. You know, I was just struck by awesomely Big Hit / BTS managed to make everything in this comeback either original or generic as hell. People have been trying so, so incredibly hard to pin some kind of shit on BTS, and the most traction they've gotten have been ridiculous. Hair colours, hot balloons, and frolicking in grassy fields? Big Hit's creative team probably put a ton of thought into every shot and prop, to make the only accusations (which I'm sure they knew were coming) that could be made, be ones that necessitates the accuser to reach so far that even non-fans can clearly see the stretch. ((Anyways, on a kind of random note, Jimin's "please baby, calm down" in house of cards makes me lose my shit every time.I'm sorry Jiminie, but I can't...))
