HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO US~ All the girls look so gorgeous, I can't believe the blessings we've been spoiled with today. I'm greedy and hope we get more!!! BTW, SUNGYEON LOOKS ETHEREAL IN HER PICTURE. QUEEN OF GRACE, BEAUTY, AND AEGYO SAL! ***I'm warming up to Yehana a little by little. It actually sounds lovely in Korean, but I'm still struggling with it in English... Thank god it has such a cute nickname that I can shorten it to. Hana, flower~

UPDATE: I've decided that I quite like Yewon Yehana Hana as a nickname. It fits well. I'll try going with this instead... Does this make me a bad fan?

I'm sorry, but... *YEHANA?!?!?! My baby was not lucky enough to escape unscathed, and just so Pledis could do some silly wordplay. WHY ARE ALL THE STAGE NAMES SO ALIKE?!?!?! I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!! Yuha and Rena are passing, but why also include Roa and Yehaha that look so similar to the other two? ***Also, in my strange opinion, Minky should have had a longer name (something like 5-6 characters in English) and Yewon would do well with something shorter (3-4). The grouping of all their names kind of looks off-balanced the way it is... but it is the way it is. Oh well. Not surprised that Pledis decided to go with Kyulkyung. It is a mouthful, but it just so happens to be the mouthful that the public is already familiar with. While I was secretly hoping for Pinky, logically it was never going to happen. Oh well. Sungyeon kept her name, like expected. While an unnecessary change, I don't really get the hatred toward Xiyeon. It does remind me of a 13 year old trying to be edgy, (I'm Raye, not Rae"), but it is nearly the same name so there's not too much damage done. Although, it does look suspiciously Chinese... but at least it doesn't end in a as well. Kyla is Kyla. No complaints here. Was sort of expecting Illa, but kinda glad that that's not the case... Well, I'm going to go cry for Yewon Yehana and get ready for class. I hope that I get used to the changes soon...

OUR GIRLS ARE GETTING THEIR OFFICIAL PROFILES! YAY, PRISTIN~ So, of course I had to race here to see what everyone’s reactions were... and put down my own, ha. A few people seem shocked, but Pledis seems to be a company that heavily relies on stage names, good and bad, so it was expected... now, onto the names: I actually, somehow, really love Kyungwon’s stage name??? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! I did read that comment some pages back about how it may mean “soup†in a language, which… wow, unfortunate. Still doesn’t turn me away. It’s my favorite so far. YUHA ♡ FOREVER!!! Roa. What can I say about Minkyung’s stage name? Half of me likes it because it is so close to being roja, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOOOODDDD!!! (But totally wouldn’t have happened in the world of k-pop). The other half of me is appalled by how close it resembles the word roe… yeah, can’t get that image out of my mind either. We’ll have to see which way I swing with this… Last, and least, is Yebin’s stage name, Rena. I think the problem I have with this name is that it just reminds me so much of other artists under Pledis. They have a Raina, a Ren, and now are adding a Rena. Kind of underwhelming, tbh. I just see Yebin as being such a charismatic person, and Rena doesn’t really match up to that in my mind. Oh well, I’m sure that Yebin will give Rena some fire to it after she debuts. I appreciate that the pictures seem to give off a funky-retro vibe, a concept that I feel we all think fits them. But, as others have already said, Pledis doesn’t always stick to concept pictures… guess we’ll see. I hope that we get the second batch of picture tomorrow. I expect that Pinky and Yewon will be getting stage names, although will Pinky be using one of her previous identities or what, ha. I’m praying that Yewon gets a decent stage name… please, oh please, oh please. I feel like the other girls will probably stick to the name they go by now, but I would have said the same thing for Yebin… If the others get released tomorrow, I’ll try to make time to get back on here, but it'll be a challenge for a Monday. I'm so happy to see the girls so close to debuting ♡♡♡

Just wanted to say that I've grown to like PRISTIN, (mostly due to the meaning that Pledis somehow fibbed in. I wonder if the "borrowing syllables from the names of their other groups" was really a conscious thought or not...). When prismatic+elastin was first circling around, I wasn't keen on it. (Like, wtf? Who thinks of including that in a group name?). Yet, the official explanation was translated in such a nice way that I couldn't help but to be swayed. So, I'll just have to ignore the missing e and appreciate that they at least pronounce it a pretty way. I think I'm still in the headspace where I expected it to be a two word name, (and, I just realized, we won't be using the cute G flower logo anymore, boo~), so it is still going to be some time before I get totally used to it. Also, still mulling over the style of their logo. I respect that they included musical notes and whatnot, (It reminds me of shannon's cute intro btw), but it just reeks of... bad, word-art. I'm not too worried though, as Pledis has already stated that nothing is official at the moment. Still crossing my fingers that the official colors are somewhat similar to the sunset gradient we had before, tbh. ---- THIS IS MY WEAKNESS AND I NEED MORE OF IT PRONTO!!!

They aren't. In the Vlive yesterday, Nayoung did mention that the color sweatshirts they were wearing coincided with some kind of units. Whether that means official group units, or perhaps just song units, is still a secret. BLUE UNIT~ Nayoung. I'm glad that the girls are one step closer to debut, now pledis just need to give us a date... Hope the girls are happy with their name, a few looked like they were gonna cry as they introduced themselves as Pristin members!!! I wonder what our fandom will be called??? Any ideas? I'm off to work now~

Hey all, I'm back just in time! Actually, I meant to post here during winter break, but never got around to doing so... ha. Of course, there's a ton that I could comment on, especially their covers and the upcoming (debut) show!, but I'm too excited about today to go into much detail. I will say... I do prefer their Adore U cover over their CMIYC cover, but that's mostly because I don't quite care for CMIYC and I think it is a bit too mature for their image at the moment. I just prefer the type of concept that they've already showcased through their original songs. (Although I'm surprised with how well they managed to pull CMIYC off, good job girls~). I'd like them to start out fun/fresh/playful/whatever and experiment with different concepts/genres as they grow. To be honest, I'd rather them have covered IGAB (which would have paired their more fun/playful image with a girl crush-esque concept) or You Think (just for the chance that Yewon could grab the "you're not~" alibs in the chorus). Also, I was only a little miffed at the line distribution, mostly because I wanted Kyungwon to have one of the whisper lines in the Adore U cover. But alas, it wasn't so (although it should have been...). It is interesting to see that Pinky seems to have less time than Minkyung, I wasn't expecting that turn of events. That said, no need to raise a ruckus over cover songs. Wait till they debut. Anyway, I made tomorrow a movie day because the concert will start at 5am where I am, good thing it's friday! I just have to be able to see their reactions when their name is announced, I can't miss that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you… Without a long rant to scroll through~ Hi everyone, long time no post, huh? I was MIA because, this past August, I became the English teacher to 147 bright-eyed, bushy-tailed 6th graders for the first time!!! YAY!!! I have a career… Anyway, I’ve really wanted to make a good impression on them, so I’ve been working really hard the past couple of months!!! Now that my new, shiny finish has started to wear thin though, I’ve started to relax back into my old routine… which means I’m back to check out what I’ve missed in the Kpop world!!! Anyway, I was FINALLY able to watch the whole concert through, WITHOUT INTERRUPTION! It was so great to see OT10 perform all together again. I personally loved that they added the yellow outfits to go along with the blue and red, my primary colored babies. I thought the white outfits were sweet, although not really what I was expecting after their more casual concert attire? Reminded me a little of Dorothy Gale if I’m honest, lol. I loved the little detail that they did by having Nayoung (the oldest) and Kyla (the youngest) have red ribbons instead of black, it was nice little touch. Also have to give all the praises to their new song~ Stop it/Don’t Do It really is top notch. It could have easily been their debut just by the quality of the song. I really appreciate the fact that they’re already working to establish a sound that is unique to them. And they successfully worked in the rap parts without them sounding misplaced and awkward!!! Shannon sounds AMAZING~ The part directly after the chorus, where they kind of break it down, I was really impressed with Kyla~ Wow, I love it! If they decided that this wasn’t quite what they were looking for for a debut, I can’t wait to see what it’ll be. On a personal note, Kyla has somehow wormed her way into my heart along side Yewon. I’m not quite sure who my bias is anymore, but I love both girls too much to make any decision yet, I need them to debut before I can straighten up my list… I hope that they begin to do concerts again, if only so that we can see what the girls are up to. I’m hoping that some kind of information will be released by the time that we get to the last practice video. I mean, they have to be building up to something right? And it’ll give the other girls a stable platform while Nayoung and Pinky finish with I.O.I. activities. From there, I hope to see them debut around April of next year. I know, I know, wait let me explain myself. Some fans want them to debut right after I.O.I disbands, but at this point I don’t see what the rush is. Instead, I think Pledis should take the extra couple of months and use it to their advantage. First and foremost, Nayoung and Pinky need some sort of a break. Give them a couple of weeks to adjust to post-I.O.I life. Seriously, those girls need a breather. Then, my hope is that Pledis will be able (or will want) to give the girls a TV show aimed at their pursuit of debuting. Show how Nayoung and Pinky are feeling post-I.O.I and the struggle the group probably faces with two of their members having already been apart of a very successful group (a la that heart to heart that Eunwoo had with them previously). Show them coming together as their own group, show them coming out of I.O.I’s shadow, make the public feel for them. Then the final episode can lead up to/end with their debut. Again, these are just my feelings. More opinionated concerns under the cut~ Well, I think that this is a good place to stop for now. Like I said before, you probably won’t catch me on here too often. Unless something happens where I can’t keep my opinions to myself, haha. I’ll keep an eye out for our girls though, and support Nayoung and Pinky as best as I can!!!

OMG~ Don't tell me that Shannon may be covering Cherry Filter's "Romantic Cat"!!!!! Because that mask looks like it and there is totally a Shannon high note in the song as well... From the onset of this show, I have hoped that Shannon would take advantage of this opportunity and present herself as a well-rounded artist and break free from the bias that the general public seems to have towards idols. (Even before her debuting, can you believe that?) By choosing a wide variety of songs in a number of genres, she could very well do that~ She's been doing great on song selection, so I really hope that I'm right~ Here is the song, in case you haven't heard it before....

I don't think they were suppose to, at least that's what I saw on twitter. I was even surprised to see pictures of the other girls, but I guess the group performances don't really spoil show footage in any way so it is okay. Don't worry, Shannon is getting more love than ever Edit. I thought I had saved the tweet, but I can't find it now... It "exists now only in my memory"...

Also, I’d like to add my two cents on the group name situation~ I guess I’ve just never really thought Pledis would ever seriously consider keeping the Pledis Girlz name once they officially debut as a 10 member group, so I haven’t had too many concerns with this whole issue. (At least, not as many as other people seem to have). Anyways, it just seemed especially obvious in the way they styled it as PLEDIS Girlz, which puts such an emphasis on the company to establish ties, that it was a pre-debut type of title. A sort of mutual symbiotic relationship (get ready, this is only my first reference to biology in this post, lol) in which both groups can benefit from the recognition of the other. Watch Pledis screw us over when they debut after I say this... Jumping back a few pages to a post I missed while I was away, just wanted to talk about this this really cute theory and hard work again because it deserves it. Really cool conclusions from little details here and there that people might overlook. A+ for effort! WEIRD LITTLE THEORY TIME: When you brought up the evidence of the budding flowers and then tried to tie in the G letter symbol in relation to their possible official name, my mind automatically came up with the word gemmation (which I knew as a biology term but couldn't recall the exact definition besides "budding"). I wondered what the root of gemmation was, so I did a quick search and found it to be gemma (plural gemmae). While Gemma is a pretty name for a little girl, I don’t think it suits a K-pop group, lol. Especially not by its definition in botany, in which it basically deals with asexual reproduction. HAHAHA. It was a fun idea to track at least. All joking aside... I do think that there are a couple commonalities with groups under Pledis in terms of official names, ones that should be taken into consideration. This does not mean that these are definite factors for the official name of Pledis Girlz, but I do think they are valid theories: All Pledis’ groups, both past and present, have an English name (or English acronym in the case of NU’EST). So, more likely than not, Pledis Girlz’ official name will also be in English and just directly translated into hangul for their Korean audience. Every female group that Pledis has produced has had a two word name combination. After School; Orange Caramel; Hello Venus; it’s quite a noticeable pattern. After School’s symbol is an A in a circle, closely resembling the anarchy symbol, which obviously is taken after the A in After. While Hello Venus’ symbol consists of seven Vs arranged in a circle to resemble a flower, the Vs taken from the second word in their group name. (I’m not aware if this symbol was also used when the group was being co-managed by Pledis, so please correct me if this is the case). Which means the G symbol used for the girls could come from either the first or second word of the proposed combination name.
