  1. What hair color would you guys want to see her with??

Her pre-debut brown hair looked really nice.

Black and pink hair would be nice too. I would also like to see her hair in other unusual colors like green, etc.. My only problem is that BP's fashion stylist s don't know how to handle unusual colors. Unusual hair colors are a commitment. Go big or go home. They deserve a great concept, styling and make up to bring out their full potential, ya know... even for just one photoshoot... the girl is a popstar ffs. Her purple hair is prolly one of my favorite hair colors on an idol(Next to blonde, pink, red and orange GD), but it's kinda regrettable that it was matched with plain clothes and make up the entire comeback. Hopefully this color will reappear and the fashion stylists will do it justice. T_T Her hair stylist and colorist deserve all the awards, though.

  2. Dear younger self,

Hang in there. One day, you will learn to accept and love yourself as you are, without burdening yourself with the idea of what you wished you were, what you expect yourself to be, or how you want to be. You will learn that confidence will come not from being or knowing that you're the best at anything, but with self-acceptance and self-love(for being "the best" in anything is near impossible and would take a long time— not that you're going to settle for mediocrity, but you will learn that it's okay not to be great now coz you're a work in progress). Acknowledging your limits, knowing what stuff you can work on, and what to let go off, not comparing yourself to others... when you learn to do those things, life would be incredibly better. You'll learn to love "you", even if you aren't perfect or always likeable... because, really, one of the most important things to learn in this world is that you don't need to be "great" to deserve love from your own self. You just have to be. :)

Love, your older self—still an imperfect mess(maybe even worse) but definitely more content and happier.

  3.

I just want to appreciate how well the whole album is together.

I have loved GD’s usual exploration of many genre in his solo works and I have always wanted to make a chart of genres with spectrums) and take all his songs, regardless of album and group them by similarities (like Super Star sounds like it would fit nicely on a playlist with Missing you and Butterfly, there is something rather jaunty about their beat,) it’s nice having a collection to fit so many different moods and thoughts as well as enjoy his take and exploration, no album was boring and there was at least something for most people- anyway this album is not like that but that was traded in for something well worth the cost.

I have been listening to all 18 minutes and it goes so well, I like that the most upbeat song  starts and then they get increasingly mellow to end in a dirge, it’s a good steady slope instead of bouncing around from high energy to low energy and I feel that is like growing. As a child you’re full of energy and then as a teen you want to fight the world when you’re mad, then you get a little older and your still keen and eager but you’ve backed off, your wiser, more savvy, then older still you have the time to look back and start to regret and older again and you realise being young was not so bad, you’ve had time to make peace with your demons and it’s alright. There are loads of ways to see and feel the ‘life to death’ narrative of the album but this one came to mind as I noticed how the tempo seemed to slow near the end.

All the songs are relatively mellow and flow well together, nothing bombastic. GD does bombastic really well and I imagine people were looking for another ‘bop’ for their collection but in trade of that is a coherent smooth and sophisticated listen and I can’t help but think of the critics over Coup De’tat that scathed the scrapbook experimentalism or not quite reaching a more synergistic complete album. I usually don’t give much to such an opinion as often even in “complete†albums there is only 1 or 2 songs I really care for, and some of the songs seem like overlapping or filler tracks, or the ‘sound’ of the artist is so distinct that they get repetitive (like imagine dragons) and the ‘complete’ album diminishes the worth of each song so listening to a complete album is rare for me.

KJY is only 5 songs, only 18 minutes and like a well written short story by a seasoned veteran and a sharp editor is gripping, to the point yet still emotional and compelling without wasting words or a ‘look over there’.

I feel this album was massively shaved down, to get the exactly 18 minutes, the 5 parts of a play/story, just a neat way to make the concept of the whole album strong.  Seungri hinted he had much song and when editing throwing away can be harder than adding but once you distil a work to its key message and purpose, put away the weaknesses and only show the absolute best, the final piece is stronger for it.   I am glad he did it this time; it proves he can do it and I feel he went the extra mile because it’s so slick and the concept is so well constructed, every Knut and Bolt is screwed in tight.  In this regard I can understand the whole album is/was reaching No 1 or top 10 in so many countries itune charts, its so.well. done!  I feel the production, arrangement and composition of the album as a whole has been a big factor in why it is doing so well.  I think the care and discipline to make this compact and succinct small collection of songs is worthy of credit.

It also reminds me that Jiyong has wanted to make an album like this, I don’t recall the exact wording but while praising Youngbae he voiced jealousy over how Youngbae’s albums as a collection of songs whereas his aren’t usually like that. In a similar vein he wanted to make music that would be more than trendy but classic and last the test of time. I think each album has brought him closer to that goal and maybe KJY might be that album at the very least it takes make a very ‘solid’ and ‘complete’ album as a structure to be and I think took it to the high end of what that could be.  And best of all, while there is enough about them to not feel massively divergent in sound and genre like previous works they don’t overlap or have something repeated between them; musically/instrumentally/how their sung/raped is still distinct.

There are so many other things to enjoy.

I also liked how there were word references, lyrics, and melodies to his past work, ‘peaceminus one’, ‘crayon’, ‘today’,‘ don’t be funny with my money’ (from GD&TOP intro) and just sort of Easter eggs littered throughout, it adds to make it personal but also even more interesting to listen to and he does it more than most so feels more like his trademark.  Even though he’s a solo how he adds his voice using different tones makes it feel more layered and even like there are more people in the song. Similarly, quoting the Truman show near the end was really clever. You never know what the future will hold so hear have all the greetings. Plus how the concept of the movie fits his life and stepping away from the artificial environment of constantly being watched and a much loved star into the unknown, using simple references gives so much to think about.

I personally feel listening to the album in order almost all day, Bullsh*t (BS) following middle fingers (MFU) up does do the former a disservice a little. When I listened to BS alone the introduction was stronger and that helped appreciate the whole song more,  following MFU it feels like a drop in energy when actually it’s got a lot of attitude and force to it.  Another thing I really enjoyed with BS is the parts where he changes his voice and how he’s rapping, at one point he reminded me of Tablo, and it sort of makes it sound like rap songs that feature multiple rappers bouncing off each other.  The songs might not be as versatile in range as other albums have offered but I think vocally he’s shown a strong range in how he can use his voice.  Lyrics and delivery I would say stand as solid evidence of why he’s regarded highly as a lyricist and rapper, even more than previous releases.

What I like about each- and why I don’t like to say x is better than y is because- all his albums show his growth, the production just gets better and better. You can tell the influence of the world renowned composers in the instrumental (which are all wonderful, the music in the album is high quality relative to what I am used to especially the more complex arrangements).

Personally I don’t think this is a bad song on the album, there is not a song that pulls you out of the progression although the dip from MFU to BS is a bit of a mild jolt and BS does cut off. On first impression I feared I was not going to like most of the songs, but actually listening to each one I quickly got into the mood each had and enjoyed them as singular entities, all with merit regardless of personal taste, but then listening to them all together I had to take a moment to appreciate and respect that they do work so well- but also a moment to figure out BS on its own felt different to BS following MFU. It’s a pleasure to listen to the album from start to finish and not a single song I don’t feel in the mood for following the last one.  I like and think the wind down in tempo helps transition into Untitled which is rather the simplest track; it’s just his one voice and piano, there is very little effects and then from this lamenting, pretty ballad into ‘swanning around on my grave’* dirge goes really nicely.

    -----------

The real-world context also brings an interesting take on it, how the songs seem to fit something that was unexpected (and so scary) as well as sentiment over certain negative things. It managed to feel empathetic (?). At least I feel the album is really soothing, maybe because (being bias) it’s wonderful, and given events it's extra soothing so I can appreciate this more. I don't know.

I was really apprehensive and uptight and could ease hearing positive news about TOP and then the balm has been a balm for the rest of the day, so much positive news and most of my fears proven false. I was worried for GD for not getting promotion and it “ruining†his efforts but reality taught me a lesson, I really don’t know anything (I’ll still worry in the future, nothing is guaranteed) but to be proven wrong has never felt so deliciously wonderful.

Those are some of my opinions, I have more but I wrote an essay and should shut up.

Fully agree with Kwon Jiyong being his most cohesive work to date. Iirc, he was talking about his own albums when he was talking about a 'collection of songs', about how people could just pick what song they want to listen to(as opposed to sitting down and listening to a full album). I'm glad he changed it up this time.

  4. Don't know whether this was posted before, or whether it's even true or not. I was always under the impression BP (except for Jisoo and maybe Lisa) had not interacted or were even close with the YG boy groups before, but its not the case as it seems. But then again, don't know whether this actually happened or some fan made it up.

Where did you get the translation? I can't find the Korean username anywhere so I would take that with a grain of salt.

  5. oh I just watched this she didn't mean as not having friends but "chingu" friends her age aka 95 liners (Nayeon is one of her friends her age) remember that Jisoo can make friends easily she doesn't have that problem

She said she's friends with both 94 and 95 liners. She has a wide range of people to choose from.

She was born early in the year(January 3), she has an "early birthday" so she could be friends with 94-liner kids(at least those born after February afaik). She was also in the same grade as 94-liner kids in school so they're her "friends". But she also chooses to call 95-liners born later than her(like Nayeon) as her friends. She told an anecdote on CH+ about how she went out with friends who are a 94-liner and a 95-liner. Jisoo is friends with both of them, but they have an unnie-dongsaeng relationship with each other and she found it funny.

I wonder if she became friends with WJSN Bona, she seems to like the group lol

  6. Jisoo trying to sneeze is the cutest thing ever

    http://www.vlive.tv/video/24317

Is Jisoo the most vocal member of BP, aka the one who's using Ch+ channel the most? What about others, I don't think I have seen individual clips except of Jisoo.

Yeah, she posts there literally every day lol She doesn't always post pictures but she talks to fans a lot. I think she only missed one day, so far.

This is her first individual video, though. Which is a good thing and I hope the members will all upload a vid at least once a week. The fans need more content now that they're on hiatus.

Anyway, I'm glad that she's getting the hang of being an emcee on Inkigayo now. There are still parts where she is a bit awkward but she's doing fine. She's also making connections so it's great, I hope her emcee stint lasts for a long time lol

Please correct me if I'm wrong... but about the Jisoo and sweet&sour pork thing, she didn't directly say that she didn't like it here. Seems like her answer was about the way she prefers to eat it, she said ì°ë¨¹(=dip the pork in sauce) in her answer and followed it by saying she doesn't like to mix things up. She also said ì°ë¨¹ about curry. Coz sweet and sour pork could be eaten in two ways, ì°ë¨¹(=dip the pork in the sauce) or 부먹(=pour the sauce on the pork--> you mix them up).  ì°ë¨¹ vs. ë¶€ë¨¹ seems to be a thing in Korea. So her saying she liked sweet and sour pork in the chat earlier isn't a contradiction.~

  8. First, she dissed Valentine's Day and now Christmas. I'm waiting to see what she'll say about White Day this March 14(though, I doubt she would complain about getting chocolates). She would be an anti-capitalist queen already, if only she didn't love McDonald's breakfast too much.

I like all Jisoo ships except ones involving creepy people, but my OTP is still Jisoo and world domination.

And y'all just need to wait until she masters or becomes confident enough with the English language...

  9. This is so true. Tbh, most of the time, we're not being pessimistic, we're being realistic. Some people are blinded by their supposed optimism that they believe in the most outrageous possibilities. And yes, while people and situations can occasionally surprise us, it's still rare.

Some people just set themselves up for frustration. I don't like being called a pessimistic, but at least I don't sabotage myself lol

Pretty much. There's benefit of the doubt... and then, there's lying to yourself.
