This badge is so tragic. It's really the only reason I'm getting it as late as possible. Please let there be a change soon. He looks so fetus, ahhhh

I wish I had more upvotes to give. This badge shows up in my nightmares, and I have no idea how it was chosen. I want his badge so much but I can't.    why????  :unimpressed:

  2. Regarding the part about the paper money: paper money had been long gone before Offred was even born. Paper money was replaced with Compubanks - digital currency. It is how the evil people (I forgot their names) were able to just shut down a woman's lifeline.

To be honest, having a regime change like that is not that unrealistic. You only have to look at some of the examples of similar things in the Middle East. Also, take into mind that it isn't the whole of America that's been taken over either.

About the money I read it a while ago so I guess I forgot.

No I don't think the time period was too short for the regime to take over, it was just too short for the roles to be so cemented. The author didn't take into account how unpredictable and stubborn people can be, and it would take much more time for this to be the norm. There are many Moira's in the world (even if it was just part of America) and it would take a while to break and tame them. They were just way too accepting of their roles after such a short time.

  3. When I first started reading The Handmaid's Tale I thought it was a really boring book and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. But now it's one of my favourite books lol

It was a tad bit boring and got better but I do think Offred behaviour at the end was out of character. I do understand that she craved love and attention, but how do you spend the entire book thinking about your family and getting back to them, but ignore an actual opportunity to do just that.

I also remembered being really annoyed by the time frame being used. It was way too short for the hierarchy to be developed and around long enough for everyone to accept their roles, too short for the narrator to be reminiscing  on the past like it was a decade ago at least, no it's just been 4/5 years and 2 of those years was spent in the war, so really 2/3 years living under this government.

The weirdest part was when she was describing money "Now it's like remembering the paper money, when they still had that. My mother kept some of it, pasted into her scrapbook along with the early photos. It was obsolete by then, you couldn't buy anything with it. Pieces of paper, thickish, greasy to the touch, green-colored, with pictures on each side, some old man in a wig and on the other side a pyramid with an eye above it. It said In God We Trust. My mother said people used to have signs beside their cash registers, for a joke: In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash. That would be blasphemy now.

You had to take those pieces of paper with you when you went shopping." This person is thirty three....33. Which meant that the war started when she was 28/29. She's been around money and has been using money for 28 years, why is she talking like this?

It was an interesting read though.
  4. it honestly depends on the person who's watching tbh, I loved the first two seasons but then it just became too much.. (like every other show that has more than 2 seasons lol)

Season 1 and 2 were absolutely spectacular. I even intend to rewatch season 1 and I rarely rewatch. After that it just gets soooo bad. Season 3 was bullshit that kept trying to be scary and I'm still dragging myself through season 4 but my lack of interest in everything happening is just too much. Smh
