I feel bad for bringing up a sensitive topic but it does come every so often among stans, fans, and non-fans so I’m so glad you shared her post and your thoughts about it. (You are soooo articulate! Don't think otherwise!) OK maybe to put this in perspective, to me, being accused of being fake or pretentious is probably one of the least malicious attacks a public figure will experience. It might keep people from stanning Jinyoung but it won’t really garner him much hate. About Kathy’s assessment, I mostly agree with it all. I feel that some ppl’s qualms about Jinyoung have to do with his sometimes too-perfect PR-ready responses (see “I look at her heartâ€) or with his skinship with the other boys seeming too deliberate. So it depends on whether you feel these moments are sincere (or whether you even care). For me, I feel there is a large element of truth in all his answers and interactions. And there are aspects of himself or of the boys’ relationships that are played up for any number of reasons (to fit their roles or identities within the group, to contrast the members for comedic effect, to help fans notice other members in the group, to help fans imagine how they would be as a bf). The latter is standard protocol for any idol group and expecting these professional entertainers to be 500% /real/ in all situations in itself doesn’t seem realistic to me. Plus, as a fan, I’m probably just as guilty by placing this “perfect prince/nation’s first love†identity on him. I imagine a perfectionist constantly hearing these descriptors applied to him must feel like he needs to live up to these impossible standards. Then again, all of this is speculation. I don’t know who irl Jinyoung is! But like you pointed out in the brain exercise, his members find him sincere, and from all available fan accounts, he’s always been respectful and sweet to fans and non-fans alike. This, on top of all his talents and skills—like what more do you want out of an idol??? But I guess we all stan people for different reasons. P.S. I think the pretentiousness thing spawned from this interview (and resulting tumblr posts like this one) about his taste in books and his love of old vintage stuff. Of the two "critiques" of Jinyoung it's probably the more innocuous one. Let him be his cute hipster self!!!

Hi I'm new to the thread! Been a fan since GGG era. Nice to meet yall! I just had a dream last week that he was in cameo role in Sassy Go Go. That's how desperate I am to see him in a new drama...help!!! I hope he gets to audition for parts once group activities ease up.

All these IG updates ;__; Oh and the Arena interview got translated: I love that this article captured how especially observant Jinyoung is and how good he is at reading social situations. He’s able to see things from other ppl’s perspectives so well. The other members, his fans, staff have talked about how considerate he is. He’s always helping staff at fanmeetings. He directs the other boys to move when he senses that the fans can’t view them on stage. I think this deep sense of empathy is, in part, what helps him be a good actor (and will probably help him be the great dad he aspires to be). But it also helps him tremendously as an idol. Of all the members he seems most aware of how to play the idol game. Like even just in the Got2day videos, how he reassures Mark that some people like quiet members or when he tells Jackson that having different looks will appeal to more ppl. It reveals how much he’s thought about his job and what being an idol entails (which is to entertain and attract as many ppl as possible). Sometimes this awareness might come across as too obvious, rubbing ppl the wrong way (cue all the “Jinyoung is phake!†comments…rme ) but to me, it just shows how incredibly savvy he is and this kind of thoughtfulness is really going to serve him well in this cut throat industry. Sorry for the essay! Wish I could devote this kind of attention to my own schoolwork

He's literally #SelfImprovementGoals ... As much as I miss the boys between promotions, I'm glad they get a chance to recharge their batteries (for Jinyoung, that probably means being a hermit holed up in his room or binge-watching movies in the living room by himself) and to get better at their craft. I know we've been talking about wanting him to get another acting job soon (and learn from veteran actors on site) but a part of me also wants him to attend class once in a while and enjoy being a normal theater student? Idk...mixed feelings... But like Jinyoung said, you can't catch two rabbits...

In the spirit of contributing to the thread, here’s a gem from a hi-touch event during their Laughx3 promotion… Cr: mix_mix_mix_mix As usual, he was gorgeous in that v-app vid but I’m sooo glad we finally got to see him play. Like we saw a glimpse of him on the keyboard in the dorm ep of IGOT7 but we never saw him display his skills until this week?? Also can we talk about how satisfying it is to see Jinyoung vibing musically with Youngjae (@ 11:25)? They have such a nice artistic rapport (see also their duets at the and 150902 fansigns) and I always thought they had the most similar taste in music within vocal line. Again, just excited to see another side of Jinyoung.

I would’ve been fine just being a lurker on this thread forever but decided to create an account – partly to thank everyone here for keeping this thread so updated and active. It’s a living timeline of Jinyoung’s work as an entertainer, kind of a chart of his successes and growth over just the past (almost) 2 years. So please please please continue doing the good work of posting!!! Like other Jinyoung stans, I’m also very invested in and impatient about his acting career. He’s always been a super charismatic performer, but I wasn’t convinced about his versatility as an actor until his A teaser, and he’s only gotten better since then. Jinyoung once compared JB’s role as leader to a swimming duck (appearing calm but actually paddling hard below the surface) but that metaphor applies to Jinyoung’s acting preparation and dancing/performance style too. He’s got great instincts already but he works damn hard to make everything look effortless and natural. Anyway, it’s disappointing that he doesn’t get the chance to showcase his talent more, but hopefully the constant overseas money-making activities, twice and day6’s successful debuts, and the better digital and physical sales this year have enhanced JYPE’s brand value, have reduced the pressure from investors, and have increased the cash flow for promotions/marketing/production… and that these eventually translate to a longer hiatus for GOT7 and better opportunities for Jinyoung (and the other members too)!
