There are so many complex angles that I do not think we should be discussing it here. For me, the fact is the loser will be asked to apologize, the winner gets to write the history. Always, through time. US has not apologized for the Hiroshima bomb and they never will. Why? Because they won. That does not make it justified though. So as it pertains to PD48, I hope we do not mix them up, else it will be tit for tat.

I think a big part of this fractured show is actually the Japanese trainees schedules. It is hard to make a storyline for them if they are not training half the time and are just catching up, hence no content. Mnet PDs cannot create content out of nothing, and this is where the show also suffers because they are finding storylines just to fill the time. I probably am more biased towards the J-trainees but I think the reason this season is just gasping for air is that there are many girls that they cannot create content with and they are overcompensating with bad storylines. The J-trainees not being present all the time also makes for bad chemistry among the girls, and you can see how the J-girls are left out of center positions and getting voted out of concept evaluations because of trust issues. I mean the schedules are just ridiculous that they cannot get some trainees to attend the ranking announcement. So everything is strained all around. I think this is where Mnet should get the benefit of the doubt, because they always are trying hard to make it show that the J-trainees are 100% involved when the fact is they aren't.

Well Doyeon at least got the best ending pose of the season. I am not sure Miu will get it this round because she is not the center. It might end up being Minju.

It is also making for a bad show because Mnet is not adjusting their edits unless they have been blindsided by the rankings themselves. I know that Season 1 was bad too but I can still remember the highlight of the season for each girl in the top 11. All IOI girls had a great story. If this current rankings for Season 3 end up being top 12, then they have nothing to show for Miyu, Miu, Miho etc... it is ending up to be a fractured group.

The narrative does not fit for Mnet. It is a waste of time if the real-world rankings is different than what they are pushing in the show.

Why is Miu getting the shaft? They will all be surprised when she gets to top 12.

I remember Season 1 where no matter what happens, Somi was always the center just because she is number 1. It was not up for debate. I do not think it is like that this season?

I thought Hitomi was put into a corner with that vocal position. oh well, more screen time for her. I thought Hitomi was put into a corner with that vocal position. oh well, more screen time for her.

There has to be a Bang Bang moment or whatever the equivalent was in S2. It did not happen this year.

Did the sorter thing. But my goal is try to get to what I think is a complete group. My baseline is IOI though I acknowledge the final group will be not similar to IOI. But damn, IOI had all the elements of a supergoup. For Gaeun. I meant polished aura. Sejeong definitely was a little rough in dancing but she has a good command of the stage like Gaeun. But now looking at this, the final group will be really way different from IOI. It will have its own identity.

That is not entirely true though. Mnet has its ways, but we are all judging based on individual performance fancams. And based on the top fancam views, we can see who are getting the most interest, at least for this round. In Miu's case for example, she is getting great exposure this round and we have not even seen that episode yet. I think it is a stretch to say that some trainees are just cardboard cutouts though. Certainly I do not think that way.

Yes so that is a strong narrative that perhaps won't be documented in the show anymore, but it is out there among the fans and voters.

I actually think these are K-pop fans who are shocked about these Japanese trainees. This is not some agenda. Sincerely it is just eye-opening. There are more 100x more Produce 101 fans here coming from K-pop background compared to AKB48 stans. Still they are getting us hooked. The contrast is sharp.

The Japanese trainees' charm is showing through the stage and I am starting to see Japanese trainees catching up to Korean trainees, with the same song and same practice time. I think there is a bait and switch between the Japanese AKB48 and their costumes vs how they are presented, like K-pop stars. Makeup is different, clothes are different, chorepagraphy is more mainstream, and they are shining more. Miu, Honda Hitomi, and Nako will gain a lot of votes.

With the position performances, the girls were good and I think they are the better dancers than season 1 position performers, but they lacked a Chungha. I wonder what would happen if Chungha choreographed for them. I need a Bang Bang performance.

Fan here. Noticed her on the first Ep! I wonder how much boost she will get from the photobook.... I think it can get her close to top 12. But then again K-pop girl group idols usually do not do photobooks.

That will be great. Somi's group can replace Miss A, which I think her style suites better than Twice/SNSD style.

(SEASON 2 ON NOVEMBER) You Aaare...BUSTED!The Criminal Is You
chaiushhy replied to zella's topic in Variety Shows
I was surprised that it did well but apparently it did well enough to warrant a second season. Come to think of it, you can call Netflix a major network and it is a global channel. If you are into Running Man and other K-variety shows, this won't be for you, but if you have no exposure to Korean Variety, I think this is an interesting show. Because unless you are into K-pop, the cast is relatively unknowns and you cannot expect the viewers to understand the nuances of their personalities and for a global audience those jokes and banter will fall flat, so it really is a new concept. Glad it did well even if it is not for the longtime K-variety fan.- 155 replies

Awesome debut for Pristin V! But I noticed in the media showcase that Nayoung is so thin! Hope she is okay. I thought management should have kept her as she is as she has a great body.

(SEASON 2 ON NOVEMBER) You Aaare...BUSTED!The Criminal Is You

I am not sure if this format works for Netflix. The key with variety is that you get feedback on the episode so you can adjust for the next one. Maybe that is why it is so scripted, you cannot really plan for the funny without audience feedback. However they can probably re-edit future episodes, but that can only do so much. Are they done shooting the series?- 155 replies
