So has the movie been released? I presume the movie is in Mandarin since it's made in China. I was wondering if they were going to screen it outside China. -

The first one is the one Britney Spears was famous for wearing: The second one is a more normal, more used one. I used to think this one was used by lip-syncers or people who had a loud backing track, while the first one was used by lip-syncers who didn't want people to see their mouth or by people who actually sang over a soft backing track. A lot of artists sing with a proper handheld microphone so I'm still unsure whether either are ever even used. -

I adore this pic. The tension and everything. She looks so scared and he's so hot here... Is the movie high-profile enough to be screened overseas? -
Their concert is visually stunning. IDC what anyone says about them not making a new concert for Tokyo because I love their production already, I'm just hoping for jpop from their jpop album. For the jpop albums correct?

Which male idols do you think are gay?

Why are you that skinny though? In some cultures being skinny is a general beauty standard (Japan or Europe) but in South Korea and the US being muscled is the norm. Why is he so skinny? -

I don't think a blackout of anything "gay" is the right thing to do though. Why ignore him and make him think that everyone around him is homophobic when he would feel less pressure knowing that he didn't need to hide from his colleagues and friends? I've been "fortunate" enough to have been in a situation of being around homophobes and liberal people, and I can never understand why anyone would not just openly play along with a person who was gay instead of shying away from them, especially if the person was accepting of gays!?! Allow the poor gay to be out and happy! And I don't get what you want to say by using a GIF of a random-ass black. -

TBF I'm not American but I seriously stereotype the US as worse for gays than Japan. Japanese culture isn't as big as American culture as a whole (including straight culture), but the only gay culture I can think of from the US is just porn and "Lady Gaga" but she's so derived from European culture that she sometimes doesn't even feel American. -

Japan has openly gay sportstars and musicians who are loved by straights and gays alike. This has been happening since before 2000. Homosexuality is also something that's been open among younger people for longer than it has in the US. The comedy thing isn't unique in Japan. I recall "homophobic" gay characters in western culture too. Take this opinion poll for example: http://www.pewglobal.org/2014/04/15/global-morality/table/homosexuality/ Japan ranks above the US for tolerance to gays. Also an interesting tidbit: http://gay-japan.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1436037401/m/439109457 -

I think it depends on who you speak to. Many of the older gay people in Europe still don't have any non-gay friends and the US still has problems with hate-homophobia among it's older populace. I've been in and out of Japanese culture and Japan. I've read up a lot of material on Japanese gay culture since I was young too. There are Japanese gays that say that their country is relatively liberal to gays. There are even Asian Americans who are very defensive about their home countries against Americans when it comes to LGBT friendliness. BTW, several Japanese regions have laws protecting gays from discrimination at local level, it's just that there isn't one protecting from discrimination at national level. Are you American or somehow related to the US? I know Americans tend to be very defensive about criticism against their culture, but it's true that for the most part of the last decade, the US was far more homophobic than countries in Europe or East Asia. When it comes to music, sport, anime, drama, etc Japan is actually richer and more diverse for gays than the US was. This is especially true a few years ago when the US was a too homophobic for general acceptance. -

I think it's your comparison with the US I'm trying to defuse. I've never placed the US above Japan. Remember than several Asian Americans even say that their East Asian homes are less homophobic than the US. It isn't an "image". I grew up stereotyping Japan as being incredibly liberal to gays with other gay people agreeing with me. It's certainly up there with Western Europe or Canada in terms of tolerance to gays. Japan has an incredible gay culture either way, far richer than the US. -

I feel like you're trolling. Japan is well-known for being liberal to gays. If anything, the US is well-known for being a homophobic OTT Christian backwater. It's only in the last few years than the US has gotten really pro-gay. -

I can only think of one openly gay celeb in the US (Lambert) and even he isn't too popular. I can think of several gay celebs in Japan that are openly gay and popular among all demographics. I think it's also a reflection on how accepting Japanese people are vs USA people. Unlike the US, Japan also has openly gay sport-stars and celebs other traditionally homophobic areas. We're talking about openly gay for decades as well, while most gay stars in the US have only been open since the late 2000s. Japan also has a far richer gay culture than the US. I don't think many people would knock Japan as homophobic, especially when I read comments talking from East Asians talking about how even several SEA countries are less homophobic than the US. Taemin is skinny though. Why on earth are you skinny unless you're gay, Japanese or European? -

Japan has a huge gay culture though, richer than countries like the US. There are even famous gay celebrities openly gay in Japan, something even the US doesn't have. IDK about South Korea, but I'm from a very homophobic country for gays and I'm unusually "open"* about being gay. People who aren't homophobic openly be "openly gay" with me, while homophobes don't want me to be openly gay. * By openly gay I mean wearing boy idol kpop t-shirts, listening to boybands, going to boy concerts, etc Not like literally screaming gay at everyone. Wouldn't transgender suit someone like Taemin more though? Or is being skinny not something associated with gays in Korea? -

I was talking about boyband member I: If his fellow members knew he was gay, why not say something about it early on?!? Like why force him to hide it trying to keep it hidden?!? My problem with this being someone from Infinite is that this group has "perfect choreography" which can only be SHINee... -

I've already forgotten what I was going to say lol. If he isn't too strong in Japan then it's best for him to stay in Korea. I'm not saying he should avoid South Korea, but I'm suggesting that basing in Japan might be better for this career. I guess that's why I was wondering about the amount of money he could earn in jpop vs kpop. Oh well. Who cares. -

LOL at Infinite. What ever happened to Sungjong concerning the gay rumors? Is this him? He looks girly too! I don't get the "we knew you were gay" thing... why not just be more open about it if the boys are sure?!? Isn't Japan more liberal to gays than western countries? A few years ago it was far less homophobic than the US. I remember finding stuff online about Japanese people talking about how Japan was a better place to be gay than western countries. -
I don't like Growl whatsoever but I like LMR. I like jpop more than kpop, so may LMR is more jpop. I'm not so excited on LightSaber. Not my kinda style.

Why do you think Taemin is attached to South Korea? I agree that he has the potential for a huge, long and successful career, but I also think he could do it both in South Korea and Japan. Dark concepts don't bomb in Japan though and Japanese are very accepting of those styles. But I guess I'm wanting a more jpop concept from them. I also think that the "cute" concept is more to do with management than with the Japanese, if you watch anime then you'll understand. +, I've always wondered if gay kpop idols would "come out" and go solo if they were already popular in Japan. egg my battery is running out. will finish later. -
No. People keep saying that SM fucked up by using it to debut Exo in Japan.

Urgh, I hate the comments stereotyping all of Asia as homophobic. Japan and Thailand are very liberal to gays, as are several other East Asian countries. Sunjoong is gay? Was he the one that played a gay character in a drama or something? SHINee's Taemin? -
