That means her personality and visuals got her to Top 24 with no prior recognition or fandom at all. And with each passing episode, she only proved to be worth the votes. .... I was trying to be nice by calling other trainees boring with boring stories. Doesn't mean they're boring people if you meet them and be friends with them in real life. There's probably something interesting about them too. But in tv, something interesting doesn't cut it. This is a tv show, they're trying to be celebrities. Some people are born with the pull even if they don't get screentime or highlighted. Like Chungha and Park Sooyeon. Did Chungha get a highlight after her dance in episode 1? Even though she did a lot for the Bang Bang team, she got minimal screen time. But look at her fame. There's something about her that people want to see more of. Not everyone is born with that. I didn't want to be mean and say it out right, some trainees aren't meant to be idols/entertainers. That's the harsh reality of life. Talent alone isn't going to work. That's tv. You said there's a story there for everyone, but is it worthy of tv? Does the trainee involved have the charisma to pull in fans? Put yourself in the shoes of the pds who go through hours of footage to edit and come up with a 1+ hour show. This is their job, to make the viewers tune in and keep them interested. They're not gonna put in a trainee with a story that doesn't fill in the screen. They're going to get fired/berated by their boss if their editing isn't up to par. I want more Seohyeung after her cover of Good Day in episode 1 but did I get it? No. Because as lovable and interesting she was during Episode 1, if she wasn't able to follow that up, she won't get shown. Your example, Hwang Sooyeon. She got attention for her dance break with the shirt lifting but did she get another highlight after that? She's a vocal doing rap but why wasn't she shown? It means the highlight didn't translate to enough interest and she didn't do anything else to warrant an edit. We got a vocal doing rap with Ahyoung but even though she got a highlight, the one who got our interest the most is still Kim Hyeungeun. Have a lot more examples but will stop here. Those who still don't get my point, try working in tv or entertainment. So many hopefuls but don't have what it takes to get into the industry. You're going to get cut if you don't have it. See the many nugu idols who don't make it? Yeah.

Oh don't you just love how people whine about Sohye and justify their diskike for her here. Fact: mnet is a business. They show what will gain them viewers. They won't highlight a boring trainee with a boring story. When Sohee was struggling with the dance, they showed Sohye because Sohye was the one who taught her and she kept asking Sohye if she's doing it right. Plus Sohye just got told by Kahi that her rank doesn't match her skill, cut to the time it was Sohye struggling with dance, cut to Kahi calling out Sohee, and Sohye thought it was her. That was good editing. There's a story. I'm inclined to believe you guys don't know a thing about show editing and how pds have it hard to make a show watchable. They're doing their job, not a charity show. This isn't supposed to be equal screen time.

Yeah it concerns me. Idol groups are not composed of members with equal skills. The most important in a group is synergy. The members need to compliment each other. A trainee's outstanding talent can either be a weapon or a flaw. She has good vocals, but she doesn't fit the song. She's a great dancer, but she looks out of place. Things like that bothers me. Though it's a project group for one year anyway so not like they're permanent. This is more a stepping stone to get them noticed and start their career after.
