IU and DEAN in one song is an absolute dream... I don't understand how this is not the title track or a pre-release !!

This is insane to do this in 2021? I'm sure they're going to back down soon because agencies and artists won't stay still. I can't believe Jpop is now more accessible than Kpop, what a day

Huh I don't like this. I feel like it is some (bad) impersonation of EXO?

I'm a bit polarized on the drop, it feels four years too late to try this kind of genre. I like the verses though

I don't understand the changes but to me, they seem to try to position themselves as a public-friendly platform (like Spotify) rather than as a battleground for Kpop fandoms ? . -
[pann-choa] AREN'T YOU BORED OF MALE IDOLS' CONCEPTS?

Pann user spilled ! Did he read my rant thread ? -
Probably not. I hope some of these companies realize that the majority of the girls are never gonna be more successful than in IZ*ONE - based on the past seasons - and it could be beneficial for everyone to leave the door open for periodical comebacks.

But where are the hits (except BTS)? A year-end ceremony is supposed to be about top groups and hit songs. It's a given to have 3/4 boy groups, but 10? Again, let's not look at everything through the prism of physical sales. Among boy groups, BTS (obviously) and SVT chart, I find their presence legitimate. That doesn't change the fact that yesterday's ceremony lacked diversity. They pretty much all did dark and overdramatic concepts with noisy songs, minus TXT, BTS and SVT. It was plain boring and not for everyone's taste, but again it's a personal rant.

Figure of speech, I know boy groups are successful in their own line, but which one of them had an actual hit song this year except BTS? It also doesn't help that they all share one identity and sound, at lest give us diversity...

Am I the only one who is sick of watching MAMA? Is this a festival for flop boy groups only ? The performances, the Worldwide TOP10... Where at the WOMEN ? The solo artists ? Where are the HITS ?

Lovelyz got their "big" momentum with the sleeper hit 'Ah-Choo' in 2015. However, Woollim did not capitalize on this opportunity and pushed them in the opposite direction with Destiny which was darker and miles away from the bubbly 'Ah-Choo'. Overall Lovelyz's sound and image is too niche. It's very "girly" and specific. It has less to do with the girls because Kei and Mijoo have been able to generate interest through variety shows. Queendom could have been a revival but they were overshadowed, and now the 4th generation is coming to take over the market... I'd say OMG had an incredible year with two hit songs, but their next comeback will be important to know where they stand among girl groups.

I don't think BTS would have succeeded without social media though ? Their huge social media branding is definitely one of the factors that has helped them to break into the US market, in the same way some influencers have been able to crossover from TikTok to the music industry because of their huge social media metrics. I don't say it explains everything but it is true she tried at a time where social media were not big enough to give you opportunities (e.g. Kpop groups can create local fandoms everywhere in the world without even leaving Korea), and labels were still "deciding" the biggest part of someone's success. It's my personal understanding of her "too early" comment.
