The J-section is sadly completely dead

its depressing, because I don't know where else to go... twitter is basically a stream of consciousness word vomit that I'm uninterested in partaking in, and this section used to have some really well written posts and bucketloads of information for Japanese entertainment.

  2. I've finally gotten around to listening to Ayu's discog, and I realize its mostly horrible. How was she going #1 and selling all these records with music like this? The tracks mostly sound like cheap throwaways. I love simple pop songs but the melodies in her songs are just not very strong.

People pretend that she has declined significantly over the years-- and I do agree, visually she has. But sonically there really wasn't much opportunity to go down further.

Over the years I've realized my taste and the japanese general population don't really agree with each other.

  3. I feel like people try to look at the golden days as if the members of the past were inherently doing something really Right, when in reality girls like Acchan etc were just as ordinary as the members now. The only reason AKB is declining in relevance is because the idol boom is over. ALL idols took a hit after that period. If anything, AKB took the least hit since the core fandom has only grown stronger. Nogi is doing well because they're more alternative/definitive, new, and newness excites people. In a few years they'll experience the same thing and so on. AKB hasn't been relevant among the general population in... years? So why is everyone suddenly in a state of crisis now?

I think the real issue is fans who don't even bother with the new girls, and simply proclaim they're nothing compared to the old members, when that's just not the case. The new girls have a dream just like everyone else.

And anyway, its not like management is resting on their laurels, waiting for the group to deteriorate. They took a leap of faith with P48 and while it didnt go the greatest, it wasn't a disaster and AKB did gain a few more international fans, if only  few. And I'm sure they'll have more exciting ideas in the future.

  4. This is the most activity i’ve seen in this thread in a long while and it’s all doom and gloom lol

right? I could see this level of conversation if all the fans AKB had suddenly drained out and nothing was selling at all, but its not the case.

  5. Literally me:

    they're still quality

I'm not familiar with how much they're selling tho, so maybe I'm wrong

  6. Hi all, I've been given permission to change a lot of the outdated J-Badges,

are there any that you would like to see changed or kept the same?

    Let me knooooow please smile.png

I made a mental note to get back to you thinking I did, but now I realize I didn't. Sorry if this is too late

The Kanna Badge is heavily outdated and I probably should have chosen a better picture for her in the first place but you live and you learn, right? smile.png

    Here are some suggestions

I really love this photo, but I'd understand if the shadows were a bit much

Same deal with the striking shadows on this one, but ugh its so perf. I wonder if there are any ways to alter shadows on photos? idk.

  7. Just reading through that BTS Army vs. Cupcakke twitter beef mess and it got me thinking:

Has any Japanese fandom been so rabid to go after a western artist for saying something about their fave? It happens all the time with k-fandoms but I don't really hear anything like it j-fandoms.

I can't think of a single international J group big enough to cause a commotion like that. Other than 48G wotas, but they're mostly grown men so I doubt they'd engage in something like that anyway.

  8. In september I kept thinking of all the things I wanted to do for halloween and I got kinda burnt out

But now I'm in such a christmas-y mood and halloween hasn't even happened yet. I don't wanna christmas myself out before december even comes.

  9. Every few months I remember Yahoo won't let me get into my old emails despite the fact I have the passwords and the security information ready to go and have a mini rage. I can't believe I was still using yahoo as late as 2014. What was I thinking? Glad their company is tanking. Bitches.

  10. God Twice is the only kpop group i care about now....and if my disbanded favs can drop some music every now and then them too

Ive reverted back Hard into hip-hop r&B groove....the scandals and beefs and stan wars are 10 times more funnier and unflitered...but like how kpop is today hip-hop is changing and mumble rappers are winning smh but whatever

my shit....queen cardi tbh...she raps like a kpop idol lmao

Cardi is showing these bitches how its done. There hasn't been a more exciting female rapper since Azealia Banks. She outshone both their asses on that song.

  11. On the other hand, expanding on the topic a bit, I'm actually thinking of starting a thread inquiring about which current popular songs become a hit organically/naturally without over-push from fan campaigns and the likes. I know that Jpop still has it. Some American songs too, not sure about Kpop. Maybe it's worth a shot.

I follow the American charts pretty closely and I can honestly say organic songs there happen a lot more than you'd think. Out of the top 10 on the H100 right now

Bodak Yellow- immediate major backing from core urban fanbase, record label helped push it to radio, expanded the audience

1-800-273-8255 - took 15 weeks to get into the top 50, after VMA performance it EXPLODED
Feel It Still - by far the most organic hit of the year. Radio updates have risen naturally, charted on shazam well before rising on itunes

I'm interested in how these things work in the Japanese market though, because as far as I know Radio is japan is like pretty much irrelevant?
