  1. You were talking about why aren't people giving the sister IOI groups a chance. They did. That's what the initial digital numbers mean. People check out the song and decide if they like the song or not. IOI members had enough fame for people to check out their songs and that reflects in the song debut rankings. As I keep saying the songs didn't stick. The exception is Chungha. They checked out her song, they liked it. It's exactly what her CEO wanted and aimed for. And they have to repeat that with every release. It has to be consistent good decisions. It can't just be something good happened one time and try to live off that for three years. If you're talking about album sales, post-IOI groups are still doing better than a lot of other girl groups and hitting way above their company weight in some instances. This is something that I expected from the post-IOI groups because fans buy albums as souvenirs and it can be idol driven. There are three lanes for the IOI members, digitals, albums, and personal schedules. But you were talking about why won't they give the songs a chance. And they did. You said that the comments were negative. And I said because it was half assed. When I see the companies want to get back together without Jeon Somi I'm not going to have a positive reaction to that. And it's not a surprise to me that a lot of people felt the same way. There's a clear reason for a negative response and why that type of news would be met that way.
  2. Gugudan debuted on Melon with Wonderland at 17. A Girl Like Me debuted in the 30's. It wasn't a situation where people went "They're not IOI, we won't give them a chance." They gave them a chance. The songs didn't stick. If you like the songs that's great, but the public didn't. Pristin was in the 50's. Weki Meki was 90's. Bboom Bboom was in the 300's, so people really did not know the song existed until the media play happened and it turned out once ears were on the song that people liked it. Twice are built on JYP making good decision after good decision with them. Even when IOI existed they didn't get the level of company support that Twice had at the same time. Chungha was on the post-IOI course too. Week and WDYK were 50 and 40 something. It could have gone up or down. But it went to the teens on Melon because the song was good. And through that they booked her smaller ad gigs, tried to put her on shows, and then released Roller Coaster which the public also really liked. She won 0 music award shows and what did her company do? They placed Gotta Go in a time with less competition. Smart decision. Now she's entering a stage where people trust her company to make good decisions for her. If you just make songs that drop like stones you're going to erode that trust. A good song isn't just your personal opinion, it's what everyone is willing to listen to. A lot of me talking about bad decision making comes from the other thread, so if you didn't read that that's fine. I also don't know why you're saying people think they should finish up their career's with their company's group. The girls mentioned they want to get back together in 2021 and I've always taken them at their word for that. So when I see the companies want to get back together without Jeon Somi I'm not going to have a positive reaction to that.
  3. If it's your opinion that you like the songs they make that's one thing. But if you're talking about objective commercial success then the companies are not choosing songs that are sticking well. The IOI members are famous enough that they can debut on digital charts within the top 100 but then it becomes clear the public isn't that into the songs and they drop. Physical-wise they still sell a decent amount of albums but with the competition rising they've taken some losses. Can even a really great reunion with everything perfectly lined up help them? Of course, but it'll be like coming off of IOI the first time. After that initial bump it's back to the companies to make decisions, and I don't have a lot of faith in them. Can a poorly planned reunion really hurt the IOI brand? Yes, also. Produce helps out idols, it doesn't make companies any smarter. The exception to that is Chungha's company and her CEO clearly said they choose songs for her they think will be public friendly. That's not an accident that she has four main titles in a row that did very well.
  4. People in the other thread were saying they'd be fine with a reunion without Somi. Overthinking may be bad, but no thinking at all or poor thinking is even worse. The sister groups are selling less and less because the companies make bad decisions, and I seriously would not trust companies that make bad decisions with IOI's reunion. I can think of scenarios where a reunion would make things worse. If you look at K-Pop, the companies that do well over time make consistent, good decisions.
  5. They already have individual popularity. Mina is doing better now than she did in 2016. The people who are currently suffering are their company group mates and Nayoung. But one of the worst things that can happen is downgrading the IOI brand with a poorly planned and executed reunion. That may sell a few albums and act like a band-aid, but that's not going to help anyone's career in the long run.
  6. If they do a reunion without a member, then let it stay as memories. Don't half-ass it. I'm not so desperate as a fan that I'm going to be happy with dumb companies making dumb decisions again. I had enough of that the first time around. They're friends, they like each other, they get along well, it's what we like them for, so do it with everyone. People recognize when companies get desperate. It's not a good look. It's not like the IOI members themselves are devoid of personal jobs, except for Nayoung because of Pledis, so don't make the argument that they're potentially not going to survive in the industry without getting back together with IOI after just 2 years without IOI.
  7. Starship also allowed for WujuMeki. They'll be on board in 2021. Pledis will be on board too. Han Sung Soo pretty much killed Pristin because he would rather work with Izone (and I guess Fromis). There's really no barrier for Nayoung and Pinky joining unless Pinky is making hand over fist money in China.
  8. June 2021 would be good. After Izone ends and CJ can devote more time and resources to it.

  12. Congrats Chungha! She's got a complete set now of public trophies. Click here to view the Tweet
  13. It was never explicitly stated but rivalry between stations is a likely answer.
  14. A photo in Nayoung's parent's restaurant from when they met up last year. Click here to view the Tweet I think Somi left for a variety of reasons.
  15. It was always funny hearing SBS deny they had a ban on IOI.
  16. Watching the show as it aired my impressions of Chungha were this: Episode 2, Good dancer, but I also thought she was mean because her and Seojung ran away from Yeseul after Yeseul tried to say hi to Seojung. In K-Pop it tends to be that Visuals, then Vocals, then Dancers attract attention. Episode 3 - 6, In Push Push I thought Soyeon did the best out of the two teams because of her energy. Mnet was definitely giving Chungha screen time and some kind of story, though it was kind of sad/sympathetic. Episode 7, Chungha's breakout moment, and it happened behind the scenes. She showed her choreo skills and her leadership skills. Yoojung and Doyeon should get special awards for speaking up and saying Chungha choreo'd the dance. As for being 4th, I think it's understandable. Yoojung and Somi got the center parts and Doyeon's visuals carried her throughout the show so 1-3 makes sense for what the audience was seeing. Viewers at this point didn't even know Chungha could sing or speak English and they didn't know she did the high note.
