Taeyeon finally gets to unleash her own style and sing the songs she wants, outside of SNSD and OSTs... and did she deliver!!! The album is a mini but every track is a gem!!! My only disappointment was the MV for I. As a standalone MV, it's great = great song and visuals. Simple storyline. But in the context of being Taeyeon's debut solo MV -- the main visual for her album --- I think it falls short of the hype surround the lyrics and her contribution to those lyrics. In short, it comes off more like a New Zealand tourism promo MV and the waitress storyline is kind of weak. Now, Party was also filmed overseas, in Koh Samui,Thailand -- but the resort location worked with the song and the lyrics. But for I, the Verbal Jint bit was visually disjointed because obviously he didn't go to NZ for the MV shoot. Given that he raps in the first verse with key lyrics, he should be there in the storyline of the MV. And I thought a lot of the hype and expectation of the lyrics was semi-autobiographical. So I wished Taeyeon really used that in the storyline = big star idol stressed out by the spotlight, paparazzi, online hate over dating, comments on plastic surgery. And in contrast, there is the Jeonju girl grounded by family and friends and simple love of music. That should be the twin duality and identities in the MV, instead of waitress girl meeting nature girl... the end of the MV could have been a live music gig, where idol star merges with country girl on stage in front of her fans. Or a final scene meeting up with family and friends - cameo of SNSD? Another sore point is that car = really?? That BMW 6 series convertible is so NOT cool... give the racer queen a Porsche or a Maserati or something!!!
