  1. Long story short, someone decided to leave our garage unlocked, I went in and half of my stuff was gone.
  2. This Naka Koh album is amazing. Waiting for the lyrics so I can translate them. Even his pre "RAFT" material is good.
  3. All these recent release announcements make me feel slightly better (temporarily distracted) about get some of my stuff stolen. Ken, Kasarinchu, DAI, Usui Miton...
  4. Pretty much, but sometimes it gets translated as "sis" which sometimes seems like it doesn't carry the same connotation as above since how often it's used on the web between friends/posters. Though it does mean a weak effeminate gay man. Currently playing Twilight Princess to rid my mind of things.
  5. Teruzane is on twitter hyping Utada's album saying it's reaching the climax of production, full of Utada's color, and something you don't want to miss. Sales aren't that important to me, but I'm curious to see how this will perform. This still remains one of my favorite songs. That bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UJLJpIe9uA
  6. No problem! I really wanted to get a bigger perspective on the article so I'm very grateful for all you help. And the comment section looks good so far which is a pleasant surprise.
  7. I hope I did a good job! Thanks for all your help and allowing me to post your comments! http://aramajapan.com/news/tvmovie/variety/kanjani-eights-murakami-shingo-explains-a-night-out-to-matsuko-deluxe-of-course-im-the-real-thing-you-fool/57713/#disqus_thread
  8. Yeah netizen comments can go either way nowadays. Some are about his appearance and Kansai dialect being dirty which I don't personally see or him being too childish. It seems like you guys would be fine with the netizen comments being included, but would you prefer them not to be? I think I might filter some out though. Or can I add some of your comments as a contrast to the Japanese ones to give it a greater perspective? Thanks for all the responses!
  9. Ame no Parade Interview: Part 1 Translated by Owatari @ www.onehallyu.com http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Ame-No-Parade---Tokyo-/0c149d440d3bf243f2ead1a29dd04ddf -This time you released your 1st major album, what kind of piece did it become? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): The title, “New generation†is translated literally to mean the new generation. I think it’s a work we created for a future music scene as a new generation. -It’s quite a drastic title isn’t it? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo):Perhaps, maybe I was trying to start a fight (laughs). -As a “New generation,†how do you want to change the music scene? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): I think Ame no Parade’s theme is to always deliver freshness. Anyhow, I wanted to pull that freshness into the current music scene. Though I was born in 1991, I think we’re in the same generation of bands like Suchmos, Yogee New Waves, and LILI LIMIT as a collection of all that frustration. I think we’re a generation saying “Why is this music selling?†“Let’s change things.†I think there is a shared feeling among everyone of wanting to establish a new scene, myself included. -Based on that is it a feeling that Fukunaga wants to be popular? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): Of course. I want to fill out Mukuhari Messe. - I see. After all there is a strong feeling attached to the title “New generation†isn’t there? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): (Laughs) Bands in this generation think that they play an active role in the future and will not be defeated. - Was there ever a point where you were conscious of the sound aspect? Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): Recently, we’ve been attracted to what is “having a band formation, but not have a band sound.†I was conscious of that. -Did Ame no Parade use various equipment and take in such varying sounds to create the feeling of “being a band, but not having a band sound?†Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): Let’s see. There was the guitar and bass, and also a synth,a percussion in the sampler, there really was a lot of equipment (laughs). To the extent we can use the sound with our own hands, the vocals, guitar, bass, and drums have a slightly different atmosphere from the regular band sound. -I see. What do you think of your own live performances? People that normally go on stage, I think, seem like actors putting on a performance. Kohei Fukunaga (Vo): I think we’re probably somewhere in the middle. In a local live house in Kagoshima where I went to school, there were many people that performed like they were acting. Though I was inspired by those people, I didn’t go into that direction. But I think there was sort of a complex to not be different from what I longed for at that time. -Is that so. Kohei Fukunaga (Vo):Though I was leaving a technical school, going to something like that and learning music theory, I felt a trend of people playing music with just feeling and sensibility deciding “music theory is not genuine music. Because I strengthened music with theory, I thought what I really wanted to express didn’t appear, so I think passion and sense are really important. But I couldn't readily show my emotions because not everyone had that feeling. In regards to myself, I felt frustrated because I had no sense of compliance. _________________ T/N: Apologies for the delay in posting this. Also the later half of this is a little rough. Will get the remainder up eventually.
  10. Yeah, there's no denying that. I definitely pick and choose my battles since I don't think everything is worth it, but generally stand by what I say. You just can't let the pluses and minuses affect you because if I did I would've stopped translating a long time ago. And speaking of translations, I have a pretty good one I'm about to post.
  11. On April 18th's episode of Late Monday Night. There's a story about how he gave Matsuko a scoop of how he went out a group of friends and somehow ended alone with a woman, and how he was able to get her home safely without any pictures appearing on the web. Even though people came up to him and recognized who he was. There's some netizen comments attached to it, but they're really negative.
  12. Do you all know anything about the Murakami Shingo incident that he explained to Matsuko Deluxe? I'm working on a translation piece and want to get fans take on it.

  14. As in people misinterpret what you mean? Japanese music fans can be a little fickle and oversensitive at times and when it comes to certain artist you have to tread lightly when posting because of this. As long as you're not saying something unfounded or ridiculous I think you should be free to express yourself, but not everyone agrees. Likewise, not everyone will agree with what you post and will just neg you instead of discussing why they disagree with you. Furthermore, I've seen a lot of Japanese music fans state that this is the internet and no one has time for good/serious discussions which may be a reason why you haven't had too many good conversations here. I don't personally agree with that statement and think the internet is a good platform for us to have these discussion because it makes it easier for us to connect with people we otherwise would not be able to. All in all, as annoying or discouraging as it might be try not to take it too personally. There will be some people on the forum that will welcome your opinion. Though I know how you feel. At one point there was some hoopla over translation request I did, but you just have to do you.
  15. All the BABYMETAL threads slightly remind me of all those Kyary threads a few years back when everyone was calling her a queen and she had a new thread every 2 hours. Seeing how that all died, these sudden burst sometimes feel inauthentic. Hopefully BABYMETAL doesn't fall off like she did. But if people like the music, let them enjoy it.
  16. I've never heard of either of those games so I'll trust your word. XD But yeah the artwork isn't too similar but gives off the similar vibe. Don't know if I'll pick it up though. But I have been gaming a lot more lately so who knows.
  17. Japanese acts definitely don't get that high abroad, but I guess I'm just looking at things in perspective. There have been Japanese acts that sold more, but charted lower which is probably why to me this is a little insignificant. It still is a great feat, don't get me wrong, but I feel like it's a little too soon to make claims of "slaying." I feel like there's a large Jpop fandom abroad, but they're just very quiet so sales of 12k seem pretty attainable. This could be a flash in the pan situation or they could actually make a greater impact and find more success in the future. I think novelty plays a role in it, though it is difficult to say to what extent it does. They definitely play into that weird Japan Stereotype that people love and "kawaii" girls accompanied with a heavy metal band contributes greatly to that. I think all of the reaction videos to BABYMETAL attest to that fact.
  18. I've been thinking the same thing, but I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. The album definitely did well in Japan, but I don't see the sales abroad as "slaying." So is it more about the position than the actual amount of copies moved? It seems like a lot of fans came out of nowhere, but regardless I think it's nice to let them have their fun while it lasts.
  19. Yeah, I'm not expecting anything for either until late summer or early fall, but any announcement no matter how far off will be welcomed. I'm definitely nabbing "TAXIS" as soon as I see it on ototoy though "RAFT" did make its way online albeit 2 months later.
  20. Now for FOLKS and Usui Miton to release something.
  21. "INAZUMA" has been stuck in my head the last few days so I've been replaying it a lot. I'll have o check out the LAMP IN TERREN song She looks like her mom
  22. Ha maybe. Yeah, "INAZUMA" is really nice so it looks like I'll be buying this mini album as well. No problem and good luck!
