I would also say that during time sentences can differ. It was 5+ years if I'm not mistaken since Kangin's last offence and he hit parked car and street lamp, not person. Its hard to compare since law and society itself can change and the demand for harder punishment (still inside the boundaries given by law) can be based on it. For example (in theory) if death rate from DUI went up, ministry starts campaigning against it, society starts to see it as bigger issue, higher punishments will be asked for and usually lesser "slap on the wrist" sentences will be given.

And btw law really changed for lower tolerance and higher punishments for DUI in summer 2019. Current maximum is 5yrs (3 minimum) in prison in case of death of the second party, before (in Kangin's DUI time) it was 1 year in case of death which shows why in his case demand was much lower.

And Lizzie's offence isn't exactly small one. Her blood alcohol level was quite high (your driving license get suspended at 0.03, revoked at 0.05, she got 0.197), she hurt person, she didn't exactly showed remorse ("he wasn't even hurt that much" but "my life is over").

Yeah, it sucks, I also liked her and am concerned about her well being and mental health. But girl could have killed someone.

So comparing two totally different cases before and after law change seems a bit off to me tbh. Not "serious concern" in any way. Law got stricker with drunk drivers. And its a good thing. And trust me, I'm as far from Kangin or SuJu fan as I can be.

I understand, I was simply saying that it looks inconsistent from a fan's perspective.

I really don't need any further explanation, thank you.

Same. I don't know if it's the acting or the plot or the director or most probably a combination of the 3.

It has to be a combination. For a lot of them, even the plot was too cringe for me. The acting is so weird, the camera shots are odd. I don't know, it just isn't for me. Any time I've been introduced to a drama it has driven me crazy.

Not all Kdramas are the same and there are some really good ones like My Mister, Mother (which is adapted from a Japanese drama), Flower of Evil, Misaeng, and so on. If you find meloromance dramas cringy you can try action/thriller dramas instead.

Thrillers are even worse for me. The "scary" and "villain" characters are even cringier. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people love them but it just isn't for me.

I get that. I don’t agree with sentencing for this like that.
Like Danee said prosecution always goes for the highest sentence.

Of course, I understand that! I wasn't following this story too closely at first. I was just waiting for the sentence, so I just understand why people were confused about it since some sites said "sentence."

Anyway, thank you for clearing it up!

    Yes thank you.

Her BAC was very high so that will also take into account of what the prosecution is asking for. It was .197% which is...very bad even when not driving. According to https://www.napahq.org/, she was in between risks of blackouts, accidents and passing out. If she had reached .30 BAC level she would have lost consciousness.

I've seen people demanding for them to re-examine Kangin and other people but without new evidence that is not possible. I'm no way defending any of them but Kangin's BAC level both times was considerably less than Lizzy's.

I want to say that I am very against drunk driving. I have lost two friends when I was younger due to a drunk driver. But I want wish her anything bad. She needs help.

I wouldn't call it a demand to re-examine them as much as people trying to make a point about how inconsistent these cases tend to be. Its a flaw in almost every legal system, but just happens to be ridiculously obvious when it comes to Korean celebrities.
