  1.

I really love this line-up, but I can't help but feel that JYP should have never eliminated Momo in the first place.

Not being able to film more episodes means she had less chance to bond with the other girls. I just hope there isn't any hard feelings. I'm not so much worried about the eliminated girls as I am about the other members being sad for their friends.

I really do love this group though, between Sana, Mina, and Nayeon I genuinely can't choose a bias.

  2. I would love to see KD with the Clippers or the Cavs. I don't see him going back home to DC tbh. I see Westbrook going to the Lakers, but ONLY if they have some sort of championship plan (instead of a hollywood plan).

He probably wants to compete, and DC doesn't have much assets, it's in East though and his addition would put it in the running. I'm thinking he might want to match up with Lebron too. I think DC is definitely a possibility, but he'd more likely stay with OKC.
If he signed with the Clips it would be interesting for sure, seems quite slim though.
Don't know about the Cavs. It would be too unfair. Could just hand them all their rings.
  3. I agree with you in that it is a refreshing twist to the saturated genre of dystopian YA novels. I guess I just didn't really like the way the story was told in the casual lets-sit-down-and-I'll-tell-you-a-story manner. But the connection to modern society is definitely what saved the novel for me.

I read The Strange Library too and I didn't think much of it either. I think the images and the packaging are really what carry the book. I guess it's a nice coffee table book.

I just love Never Let Me Go way too much, just thinking about the novel makes me want to read it again.

Finished A Farewell to Arms, The Big Sleep, and The Yellow Wallpaper.

I really liked A Farewell to Arms, and appreciated the message of Yellow Wallpaper.

The Big Sleep was too cheesy for me though, I didn't like the narrative style at all.

I'm trying to get through the essential reading this holiday before university.

What are some of your favourite books in the typical top 100 must read lists?

  4. I heard about it!
I'm worried with sallaries....with things going in that way, Kevin Durant will do a 200 mi contract one day, and WTF if it happens

I bet Wiggins will get 200mil one day...

Who do you think will get KD next year?
A lot of people seem to think he'll leave OKC, but the situation there seems pretty good.

pretty bummed that deandre jordan left the clippers…i get that he's from texas but doc rivers really brought out the best in him. he was trash before doc entered his life…..

I'm really curious to see how he does in Mavs, maybe he could really step it up and become a star player, who knows.
Might be a blessing in disguise for the clips though, without the max contract next year they could add some depth which seemed to be an issue for them.
  5. I'm so bummed right now. I just finished reading two novels that were profusely recommended to me- presented as must-reads by various people I know and they both were disappointing. I'm especially disappointed with Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go since even my school librarian's been talking me into reading it. I guess when I figured the premise of the novel, I expected something profound from it, but literally got nothing... I think I'll pass on reading The Buried Giant, another title repeatedly recommended to me, but I am interested in reading his earlier and from what I heard "better" novel.

Gone Girl, I actually quite liked but the ending just kills me. Why all the building up for that? I just feel so underwhelmed...like reading the novel wasn't worth the time and I should have just gone straight to viewing the film adaptation.

I was so excited to really get into reading contemporary stuff once summer hit but the two I started with were such duds :._.:

I really liked Never Let Me Go, the language the author uses is so beautiful.

I think a lot of people go into it expecting a dystopian epic about battling against the system though, and are disappointed.

The novel is more realistic to me than a lot of other dystopian novels because it shows the human tendency of just accepting the way things are, and ignoring injustice. The main characters aren't heroes, just normal people like you and me that try any way of coping with the cards they're dealt, even if it means deluding themselves. The teachers and head mistresses also reflect our society, they think that just because they make the donation process more humane, they're activists. In reality though, they turn away Kathy and Tommy when help is actually needed, knowing full well that the children in front of them aren't beasts but multifaceted human beings.

It's really such an interesting take on a now overused genre.

I'm reading Murakami's The Strange Library at the moment. Not that great, but it's a fun short story.

Afterwards I want to read Hemingway, I've only ever read is autobiography which was interesting because of all the F. Scott Fitzgerald dirt, lmao.

E: yep, The Strange Library is pretty bad...

  6. On episode 6 and so far, I find this season to be boring. I was super excited to see what would happen next but I find myself watching an episode only when I want something to play on my TV. It's great seeing more background stories on the characters and this season is a big breather after the shitfest of drama last season, but I was expecting so much to happen...

That Healy x Red shit though (whistles) did NOT see that coming.

    Screen-Shot-2013-08-19-at-12.47.55.png

I watched it all in a few days since I'm on break right now.

It definitely get betters in the 2nd half, but I do think they have some issues this season with the handling of the backstories.

I feel like they don't go into much depth as they did in the past. Not enough resolution. Maybe they're saving it for next season though.

And I hate that pairing. So so much.

I can't decide between Ruby Rose or Ronen Rubinstein as new bae. obvi Ruby is amazing but !!!!

    Ruby Rose is bae.

  7. I liked this season better than the previous.

The Vee situation was too stressful for me, and they were starting to make me dislike a lot of characters.

    Spilling spoilers ahead.

    • I hope Nicky will be back. If she doesn't though, I'd understand. She doesn't seem saveable.
    • Morello and her husband are cute, but their relationship is fucked up in so many ways. Wonder how he'll react if he knows the whole Christopher deal.
    • Healy is a sad sack of shit as always, it was very satisfying to hear Soso tell it like it is, I hope that we get her backstory next season. She and Poussey were very cute.
    • Red and Healy loveline is gross, and I don't even want to think about it.They're wasting her character.
    • Pennsatucky's story... man. I'm glad that she got out of the duty but I'm really scared for Maritza. Even though she doesn't get much screen time, she's one of my favourites. Hopefully there will be an episode focused on her next year.
    • Pornstache was a nice surprise, I was shocked to see him there since I thought he wouldn't appear at all. I thought they had replaced him at first!
    • Sophia should've just apologised to Gloria. I don't understand why she didn't.
    • Piper's story is, as always, the most boring in the show. The Australian girl was cute, but really didn't add much to the plot.

  8. I don't like to talk about my life but I think I might feel a little better if I have someone that I can talk to about my problems and then saw this thread.

I have not told anyone about this even my close friends.
I kept this in me for so long.
I think I am getting depressed.
    I feel so miserable.
I am trying to stay happy but it is hard.
For a while now I realized that even when I am hanging out with my friends I feel alone, tired and unhappy.

The moment that I thought I was happy someone ruins it for me.
The reason why I never talked about this is because I don't want to get hurt and I hate to use this word but betrayed again.
I realize that talking about this won't make my pain and misery go away.
All I want in my life is to be happy.
    Is that wrong?
Am I asking for too much?

Is this a sign of depression or am I already depressed?

I know you don't want to talk to your friends because you think they won't care, but they care a lot more than you think. I think you should confide to a close friend about how you feel.

    How old are you?

If you're still a student this feeling could be a sign of having too much on your plate. Even if you're not it could be from work. It might do some good to take a break from school or work, and go on a holiday doing something you're passionate about. It's so vital to relax once in a while, reassess what makes you happy and then make adjustments to your life.

  9. You know how some of the girls had a hairstyle change in episode 2 (or was it 3)?

I feel like Mnet should've filmed the process and reaction.

All the makeover episodes in America's Next Top Model are the best ones!

It would've been really fun to see the girls reaction to their new hairstyles.

    Mnet really missed an opportunity.

If Momo gets eliminated, it'll be so sad. Hate seeing them cry. :(

  10. The manga that really got me mad was heroine-shikkaku.

Like I'm sorry but that one.. was on some other shit.

Agree so much. If OP wants to get angry and rip her hair out, this manga would be the way.

I actually read spoilers and when I found out what was going to happen I dropped it immediately.

So disappointing, it was going so well too...

I'm not sure obviously, but I think Minyoung might have gotten eliminated.

The reason I think this is because:

    • It seems like the show has been either prepping for her to surprise us or for elimination. (Eg. not performing well in group photo, not doing well in performance, being criticized by judges).
    • I don't think a lot of the criticism was warranted (yes, she didn't do well in the vocal performance, but show could've easily spun the performance in a positive direction if they wanted to), so that's why I think they've been prepping us for elimination.
    • JYP looked shocked in the preview - Minyoung is someone that JYP has high expectations on.
    • The fans are very shocked. So, either a team that performed well lost, or a popular member or former 6mix member was eliminated.
    • I think a lot of fans followed the group since 6mix days judging by how invested they looked. Most of us thought 6mix members were pretty much guaranteed to debut, so that's why I think they were shocked.
    • The shot of Sana looking stressed could possibly be when the judges were announcing which member in the losing team to eliminate. Mina is crying and she was part of Japan team with Sana.
    • Later Sana is standing besides Somi who I think did well in the challenge based on her groups' reaction, so she could be on the 'safe' side.
    • Jungyeon looking really upset - she turns away from the camera to either hide her expression or talk to another member. She, Nayeon, Jihyo, and Minyoung trained together so I could see her being more hurt about the elimination. They also have a close-up of Nayeon tearing up.
    • So far the girls that have been eliminated haven't been all that surprising. I think most of us didn't think they would make the final group LBR. Minyoung's elimination would change the whole vibe of the show.

This is all just theories, I hope the fanaccounts are true.

I really don't think Minyoung is as bad as the show makes her out to be.

She really wants to be in the group, but she wants it so much that she's stressing herself out.

  12.

Yeah it really feels like the manga is ending in the next 2 or 3 chapters since they finally addressed his situation. I was hoping that he got a letter from his other self OTL. It's gonna feel rushed if he gets better so fast. Plus the movie is coming out in December so we have 3 chapters left with a bimonthly release x.x

There's 3 chapters left? For some reason I thought there was only 1.

That seems okay then since each chapter have quite a lot of pages.

Ugh, this manga is making me so anxious though.

I don't see how Kakeru can NOT commit suicide with the mindset he is in in the latest chapter.

Will the group tell him about the letters? Will they force him to get help?

Probably the most suspenseful manga I've read in a while.

  13. So is the next chapter the last?

Not sure if that's enough pages to finish the story, so many things to address.

I have a feeling he commits suicide, how will he suddenly get better in one chapter?
