  1. Yikes What causes some people with lip fillers to get this super obvious protrusion on their upper lip, while others don't? For example, Yooa has had pretty extensive lip fillers, but her mouth side profile never looked super off.
  2. Bro we're in the middle of the apocalypse, no one has time to worry about flop award shows. But for real, I don't see it happening for any award shows, even the big ones...actually especially the bigger ones. https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/awards/9336804/2020-billboard-music-awards-postponed-coronavirus
  3. Idk why some people are saying bts's album's art director being nominated is a "foot in the door", that's not how grammys...work. You don't start off at a low award and then win a bigger one. It's not like the reason they didn't get a music nomination was because this was their first nomination. I mean Solange's first grammy was Best R&B Performance, a big music award. Gotye's first time being nominated he won 3 awards, including Record of the Year. so....
  4. Despite how cash grabby they can be, SM seems like one of the only companies that actually cares about delivering good content. -They cast some of the most talented people in the industry, and hone their skills rather than sacrificing their voice for "style". -They aren't beholden to one producer and work with tons of different people, even those who have no involvement with kpop. -They experiment with different styles and imagery -Every group has a very distinct flavor to them, but never rests on a single concept Not saying they're perfect tho, but SM gets so much hate despite them being one of the hardest working and most consistent companies. I don't really like chungha as an artist, I think she's a great dancer, but her voice has no power and she always kind of sounds out of her range. It's kind of unpleasant to listen to. ----- I feel like dance skills are the most overhyped kpop talent. Most idols only dance in prepared choreographs, or on variety shows do a 10 second mediocre freestyle or obviously prepared dance. I mean to be honest, in a group setting it's a pretty useless talent. A dance can only be as complex as the ability of the weakest dancer tbh.
  5. I don't understand why people become so illusioned when it comes to celebs. XXXTentacion deserves no sympathy at all, and what makes you think he was improving? Because he wasn't beating up pregnant women every day? Last time I checked, doing nothing wasn't improving yourself, that takes conscious effort. I wonder how may people thought Kangin "improved" before he showed everyone that he hadn't changed at all.
  6. I saw a video of Lee seo won entering the police station...the comments. So many people saying they hope this doesn't end his career and that he deserves a second chance, those comments had hella upvotes too 1. He sexually harassed a woman 2. He threatened her with a knife (a lethal weapon!) when she tried to get help 3. Hid it from his own agency and continued schedules for over a month He should rot, seriously, him being drunk is not an excuse. Alcohol is a depressant, if you're still that violent when drunk, that's just the kind of person you are, even when sober. I just want to understand what kind of people are the people defending him. Like what is wrong wit their brains? The real victim in this situation is traumatized and people still are blaming her, why have sympathy for someone who would have murdered or horribly injured another person?
  7. Wendy should not be forgiven. As a black girl I'm always aware of people's preconceived notions about how I sound or act. I always feel like I have to prove that "I'm not like that" and when I do, people say I "act white". People (mainly white kpop fans for some reason) keep saying it was just a joke? No it wasn't. A joke has nuance and an actual punchline. People like Dave Chapelle and Key and Peele and others use stereotypes in a way that actually insightful and entertaining. Wendy basically was like " HUR DUR~~ black people don't speak english well~~~". That isn't a joke, it's not funny. If a western celeb did an asian impression and did some stereotypical shit like pull their eyes back and said "ching chong" these same fans would be up in arms. Lol and the defenses too. Wendy 100% has known and interacted with black people who didn't act like this. She's from Ontario, not Oakland. She played a stereotype in front of people who will actually believe it, and it has hurtful effects. Black people already have hard times getting teaching gigs because korean employers think they all speak in aave. You have people like han hyun min and sam okeyere trying to prove that black people aren't any different from anyone else and people like wendy who absolutely know better tear it all down. Sure you are free to stan her, but don't defend her because what she did was wrong. P.S. - I don't defend any idol who does shit like this, regardless of origin. Mocking an entire group of people doesn't make you ignorant, It just makes you a shitty human being -Lol refusing to listen to american rap but stanning "hip hop" idol groups is like saying you're a movie fan and only watching disney channel original movies. -Somi seems fine as a person, but honestly her voice is grating to me
  8. Loona stans are too much. Stop shoving your faves in my face, they're nothing special honestly Also why do kpop stans think it's acceptable for someone to train as an idol for multiple years and debut barely being able to hold a note, and just passable at following choreo. It takes audacity to stand on stage like that tbh, and then going on interviews like "I always wanted to be a singer" lol its too much. Shipping real people is gross
  9. I feel like some idols try so hard to have a dual image. Offstage they act a damn fool, like Hani, ingenuinely cute, like BP jennie, or ultra innocent, like Kang daniel (not just talking about these 3). And onstage they just do the absolute, utter most. Especially hani, she really hams up her "sexy" act so much and I find it so cringey. Hani in general seems like one of the idols with the fakest personalities imo, but most people say she's the most "real".
  10. I don't really like KOD, I think it's a downgrade from J.Cole's previous releases. I feel like he was being way more genuine on 4 your eyez only (also false prophets and everybody dies) ,and now he's trying to assimilate too much.
  11. My major gripe with kpop is the fact that fans voluntarily turn themselves into worker bees for their faves. Even the most dedicated 1D fans weren't inflating youtube/spotify views or buying 8 albums at a time. You shouldn't have to put in extra work for artists, they create art, you buy/stream it as much as you want (and no, I don't believe there are people who want to listen to the same songs 900 times in a row). That's the equal exchange. As soon as you start doing extra and treating it as anything more then entertainment, then you're basically at almost saesang-levels of obsession. For what? You're not getting that money or awards, all you're doing is making it so that literally every metric used to determine popularity is now untrustworthy. At least when I listen to top charts for the US, it actually reflects true public interest. Kpop is not popular in the US. Period. The only kpop artist who actually had any sort of real impact is PSY, and he was mainly seen as a joke. It is still extremely niche, I've never heard anyone in my actual life even mention kpop outside of when Gangnam style was popular. Lol it's perplexing to see fandoms battling it out over whose fave is "dominating" america when nobody here is interested, besides kpop fans. The reality is that your faves are releasing watered down american pop tracks in a foreign language. Idk why obsessed kpop stans even want western attention, we're way less likely to coddle artists over here, so your marginally talented faves would actually get eviscerated. Even Beyonce gets called untalented from time to time. Lol I've been holding this in for a long time
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueYsm8fOHNc From 1:05:00 for the speech part. I don't have time right now to re-watch the broad cast for the other part unfortunately. I don't know him, so I'm only guessing by the vibes I get from his mannerisms, not just specific events. But I may be wrong. Also, why would there be antis? Just wondering EDIT: Things get awkward in this video between RM and Jungkook, If you have time to watch the whole thing
  13. Not sure where to post this....but has anyone ever wondered if V has a mental illness? His mannerisms seem more than just 4D to me. My twin and younger brother are both high functioning on the autism spectrum, so I have a lot of experience with the weird (and irritating) quirks. V has always given off that vibe to me, and there have been many subtle hints that there is something more complex about him. ' Before their broadcast of Shim Shim Tapa, he talked speaking with words in the wrong order when nervous, and Jung Joon-young (MC) received a note about not getting him nervous, I I remember correctly. People with Aspergers syndrome (this title has been renounced, people with this are just considered autistic) tend to have trouble (in my experience) being situation-appropriate. If you can remember when this happened... Other people could probably tell that wasn't appropriate in that situation, but poor V probably still doesn't understand what he did wrong. (Rapmon made faces behind VIXX, but I feel like he honestly knew what he was doing could be seen as rude) Anyways this is just my opinion, I've been around a lot of mental illness, and I get that same feel from him.....what do you guys think? P.S. - V is my bias, probably because his mannerisms make him seem so familiar.
  14. Thanks, that makes sense, and also I never called anyone delusional, just wanted more concrete evidence. But I agree with the points in the beginning. I'm just wondering would 'hints' of a relationship be the same in Western countries and in Korea? That was my big question. If they were, literally every male idol would be gay (but the vibes thing makes sense, I guess). Maybe I just was confused from some of the late - thread posts.
  15. I was never talking about the entire thread, some people (mostly at the start and middle of the thread) have kept level heads and provided legit evidence, I know because I read 50+ pages of this thread. I'm not insulting anybody, just hoping for more critical perspectives.
  16. It just doesn't ,from accounts of non kpop fans who live there, seem to be only females. So I wonder, if I may, if this may not be accounted for in the proof of some of the less documented pairings (obviously there are some that you can't refute). PS: People seem to think I am against their ships or gay/bi/trans/pan people, I'm just a critical persom who takes a little more than a fanfic and a gif to be convinced of something. I'm a researching kind of gal. Thought I would find evidence of lgbt here, but I was dissapointed (with the exception of those cute myunjong gifs, and misc. kpop skinship)
  17. I'm not being defensive, I honestly do not care if my faves like dick or pusé. I'm just saying, some of the people want their ships to be real way more than any outsider should. And most of the proof is: Remember when oppar stared at that other dude THE SHIP HAS SAILED. I don't get it, should they be really uncomfortable with each other, this is Korea, where men can stroke he inside of each other's thighs and not even have to say "no homo".
  18. I mean, where are you getting your information from? Probably the internet, and I think a personal account (multiple exist) about how affection between males is a thing in Korea is more valid then Kaisoo chapter 185 or whatever you're reading. PS: I've read about 50 pages (scattered around) of this thread. Still doesn't get any more believable.
  19. This is just my opinion: This thread seriously seems to be reachng. From reading it , you could assume that 78% of male idols are gay. There are some people that even I can say seem gay, but a lot of this seems like people are reading way to much into simple things. When people want to believe things, they find evidence everywhere lol. This is Korea, Same-sex touching and affection is common, not just between your oppars. http://www.cracked.com/personal-experiences-1324-the-6-strangest-things-nobody-tells-you-about-life-in-korea.html And it seems weird that girl groups show the same amount of affection, but one of the only ones people say are gay is Amber. I have two theories: Amber is one of the few androgynous girl group members, and her being more boyish makes her one of the only suspects, while almost every boy group member is extremely androgynous, so people think there are more likely candidates. Fangirls reallly want their ships to be real and will ignore any evidence proving otherwise. Reading cringeworthy mut of their ships, saving images and gifs of their OTPs looking at each other, touching, or hugging (Ignoring that it may be fanservice, or that people who live and work together probably have tight bonds, and the whole commoness of skinship in Korea) Not denying that there are some gay guys in kpop (there definitely are), but most of the people in this thread seem extremely eager to call someone gay. At this point I'd want to know who they think isn't gay, because it seems that Flamboyant = gay, Non flamboyant=bi/closeted gay, and that is really weird. Don't say I'm in denial please, I get nothing out of male idols being straight, gay bi, pan, whatever, and I'm fully in support of the LGBTQ community, but this just seems to be going a bit far at this point.
