There are a lot of reasons I'm sure, but probably one of the big ones is that he was drafted to serve a government that refuses to do anything about the stalkers or the media blackout he and his members have had to endure. He's serving in the military for a government that doesn't give a single shit about him as a human being.

As much as I hate "no homo" stuff, it's important to keep in mind that the South Korean military still largely views homosexuality as a mental illness or behavioral disorder. Institutionalizing homosexuals may not be common practice anymore, but that doesn't make it a friendly environment.
-
I don't know if you follow him very closely, but he did not want to go to the military. He was extremely depressed leading up to it and he lost a lot of weight after first enlisting until I'm assuming they started forcing him to eat all his meals. He seems to be in a better place mentally now, but it was rough watching him for a while there. As much as he loves Korea, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ends up living elsewhere someday.

FML I accidentally closed out of the tab after I wrote nearly the entire post Digest version Stumbled across this video, it's a pretty good display of the general dynamic surrounding GRI these days GD touching Seungri at every available opportunity, Seungri leaning into the touches but not particularly inclined to initiate skinship himself (save for a little sly foot action, I see you boo), and the other three just kinda awkwardly running interference while trying not to stare directly into the sun (with Taeyang coincidentally being the one who seems the most comfortable with their behavior, maybe because he hangs out with them the most during free time) With the "oppa" thing they sometimes do it as a joke/fanservice, but Seungri also sometimes lets it slip without thinking, which gives the impression that he actually does habitually call him that behind the scenes (Don't mind Seungri and his high key instagram shipping, boy has no chill on social media )
-
Right, it's a neurodevelopmental disorder, not a mental illness.
-
Okay, but if the GTOP shippers come at me I'm leaving again. I'm not here for petty fights. Anyway, as I've said I originally thought it was one-sided. It's super obvious GD's into Seungri, I just didn't want to consider that Seungri might not be straight. For some reason he could only be an ally in my mind Some things that ring suspicious are the fact that their dads are totally cool with their sons being shipped together (especially Seungri's dad, who's been seen several times with different shipping banners and such) They're also pretty friendly with each other's families, not that that automatically means anything, but it's one more for the pile. GD always touches Seungri a bit too intimately (even behind the scenes with no cameras on them, which of course is difficult to find pictures of for obvious reasons, but basically it means most of their skinship isn't fanservice) (I've seen GD with his hand way further up Seungri's thigh quite a few times, but I can't find any screen caps of it) GD often looks possessive or jealous regarding Seungri, and he always laughs way too hard at his dumb jokes even when nobody else is laughing. They're also together a lot more than most fans seem to be aware of. They spend a lot of time together, even rivaling the amount of time bffls GD and Taeyang spend together (and the three of them hang out together sometimes too even though Seungri and Taeyang aren't that close ) Also apparently GD ships GRI on his private instagram, which I'm sure is "just fanservice" even though it's private Actually part of the reason I assumed it was a one-sided crush before is because most of the stuff seems to be GD→Seungri, but the thing about it is Seungri lets him do it. He lets GD fawn over him and touch him too intimately and have lots of skinship, he encourages him by calling him "oppa" and saying things like "GD is my boyfriend" to fans, he's gotten closer to him and his family when if he wasn't interested it'd be appropriate to distance himself instead. There's no way Seungri isn't aware of how into him GD is, and I just don't see him leading him on like that. I still don't know what to think of Seungri's sexual orientation at all though, so at this point he's just "somewhere in the realm of not straight"
-
There are actually speculations that the photo from Seungri's scandal might have been taken by a man Either way, you can't believe everything you see in tabloids, especially sleazy ones like Friday. Anyway I guess it's true that people who don't follow GD or Seungri or know their personalities might not notice, but even just observing them on stage or in interviews it's at least clear that GD's smitten and has been for many years. For a long time I thought it was a one-sided crush because I always just assumed Seungri was straight, but once I smacked myself and tried to keep an open mind I noticed that Seungri not only isn't discouraging GD's feelings, but he's actively encouraging it by doing things like calling him "oppa" or his boyfriend or etc. He respects GD a lot, so I find it really unlikely that he'd lead him on (and I'm 100% certain everybody around them including Seungri himself knows GD's in love with him, it's stupidly obvious). Plus the things with their families, it's all just too suspicious. It doesn't make logical sense for them to be just friends. I'm saying this as somebody who used to barely glance at GRI shipping before dismissing it like "yeah right, keep dreaming". Their interactions are that convincing
-
Anybody who has fans can do fanservice
-
Why is it that when couples like GunHeechul drop bomb-sized hints it means they're basically married, but when GRI do it it's "pure fanservice"? They're regularly spotted on dates, they hang out with each other's families, their parents publicly support the idea of them being a couple, they have couple items, GD treats Seungri like he's the best thing since sliced bread, GD often acts like he straight up owns Seungri (and Seungri for his part is totally cool with it), their body language screams "couple", they say things like "GD is my boyfriend" or "Seungri is my muse", the amount of lovestagram they get up to sometimes is frankly disgusting, Seungri frequently calls GD "oppa" (which is super duper gay), and so on and so forth into infinity and beyond. So why the double standard? If this was literally any other pair I feel like this thread would be raving about them as one of the "unofficially confirmed" couples of Kpop and blessing how much interaction and evidence they have, but it's like for some reason people actively don't want them to be real.

Plus testimonies are also considered evidence, so if the testimonies are not being used as evidence to be sent to the prosecutor then that can only mean that they were inconsistent, provably false, or that they described no actual criminal behavior.

In a rational world yes, but these people are out for blood, and only Yoochun's will do. All I can say is I really hope none of them are ever on the wrong end of a false accusation, lest they have to taste their own medicine.

It doesn't matter if the news is true or not, what matters is that the media outlets are reporting irresponsibly and toying with people's lives. They're not doing their research, they're reporting unconfirmed rumors, and they've straight up lying about some things. This media corruption deserves attention no matter what the results of Yoochun's police investigations turn out to be.

What's really sad is they would genuinely rather there be 4 (or more) victims of rape than one victim of false accusation for this very reason. All is right in the world if these women were actually raped and he is punished for it, but any other outcome just won't do.

If it's true that he's innocent? I guess he takes a whole lot of legal action, and tries to regain any semblance of his former career.

I'm gonna wait until I see the police statements before believing anything, but wow. The response to the idea that he might've been found innocent is really, truly disgusting. They're literally saying things like "I don't want to live in a world where Yoochun is free", as if there is 100% no possibility that he's innocent. They really did just decide he was guilty from day 1 and have no intention of considering other possibilities. At this point I really get the impression that even if it's proven the women were extorting him, people will still find a way to paint that as him being guilty and the women being the victims.

People tend to balk at the word "prostitution", but I'm just gonna put this out there that while I wouldn't stan a rapist, I'd be totally fine stanning a person that has consensual sex that just happens to involve an exchange of money or goods. I would hope his fans are mature enough to hold similar views. "Illegal" doesn't always mean "immoral".
