I just searched it up and there seems to be a lot of installments to this franchise, what movie should I start off with first?

I saw comments that recommended not watching them chronologically so I'm not sure where to start OTL

ah. well, tbh, i never finished the series for the exact reason that it was super hard to keep up with the order. i just got back into it thanks to the kizumonogatari movies because the animation is just too beautiful. anyway, this reddit page is very helpful

the original by far, although i appreciate the rebuilds for the different direction it took after 3.0. what about you?

The original, the rebuilds were too superficial for me. It's just your regular super hero Mecha action. The characters aren't realistic damaged people anymore.

However, I'm still interested to see what direction they will take after 3.0
