  1. I see K-seomate reacting sadly too so it looks like it's true. I wonder if she can hold her party late on July 1st or 2nd (Fri/Sat)? I don't mind waiting a few days but it'd be too disappointing if she didn't have an event at all. It might not be a big deal to others but for us it's the only time she's open and generous with fans (since she's not the type to do that in SNS or even interviews). It's also the only chance we get to hear her sing solo songs she likes. Judging from last years party she reaaaaaaaaally enjoys it....she even dressed up...prepared a number from Wicked....please don't let this year be cancelled cause of the stupid Coex. Especially after Mamma Mia when there's so many that would want to see her
  2. It's so interesting to learn about Seohyun's personality type. I looked at this page about INFP http://www.mypersonality.info/personality-types/infp/ Makes me want to see more of Seohyun's creative side!
  3. My favorite is black hair because she looks royal with it. It just brings out her skin and soft, elegant features. Ginger is my second favorite! Striking and surprisingly natural on her. Though I admit I would like it more if it was a more true ginger than just straight orange. I hope one day she tries a color similar to this Next favorite is blonde! It makes her look like a an angel, very sweet and doll-like. But again I think it would be nice to see a more natural or toned shade of blonde. Because the one she had during Lion Heart was basically what was faded from her ginger hair, so it looked a bit yellow at times. I think it would be really interesting to see her with platinum or brown-blonde like this Brown is my least favorite! Actually, if it's a nice caramel brown like during Holler, that's okay. The not-quite-black, not-quite-bright chocolate brown is boring.
  4. What is this... Firstly, SNSD's achievements and Seohyun's love for her group and members will always be understood. Nobody questions those. That said, please don't come into a thread for an individual member, which is the only free place fans have to discuss and vent and be biased, tell people to "shut the fuck up" and aggressively impose some sort of standard of being a ~real group fan~. Nobody is obliged to be a Sone. Nobody is obliged to follow every single member. Nobody OWES their loyalty to a fandom. Nobody's opinion here is going to make a difference to SNSD's legacy or relationship. No offense, it doesn't make a difference how old of a fan you are. I've been a fan for 8 years too. Kpop is not a religion. Some take it seriously and some don't. Some have an attachment to the group and some don't. If this was the SNSD thread then your rant might have made some sense, but this is a SEOHYUN THREAD. There are many type of Seomates who post here. Seomates who are hardcore supportive Sone, Seomates who only like and follow a handful of SNSD members, Seomates who never followed SNSD and only know her from WGM or shipping, Seomates who are primarily fans of other groups but like Seohyun from SNSD, Seomates who outgrew the group but still care about Seohyun, new Seomates who don't have 100 years knowledge of Sone history, Seomates who have busy lives and can't keep up with a dozen other members, Seomates who don't care for the patronizing tone of some Sone (like you), Seomates who don't care for a tradition of some hypocritical "group" fans only supporting certain members, and yes, Seomates who are frustrated with her relationship with SM (NOT her members). This is a space for all her fans. Bashing other members isn't encouraged in this thread, which if you actually stalked enough you would see. Still, we have a right to our feelings and observations, and we try to keep them in this thread, and try to respect Seohyun's heart that loves her group. "Is it the rookie groups? the trolls? Jessica? lost your balls?" <--- Or ever consider, we have our own, long-brewing reasons? Why does it have to be about someone or something else? This is exactly why some of us roll eyes at group fandom. So before you waltz in and tell people to "shut the fuck up", step off your entitled and policing high horse. Your post isn't just condescending to people who express their opinions in a designated space, but also the majority of Seomates in here who call themselves Sone and and love or respect SNSD. If you don't like what you read here, there are thousands of other threads celebrating Sone power that you will be quite happy in.
  5. I want to say thanks to the people that have been participating actively to help this thread grow and even to the people who lurk and post occasionally. In general Seohyun fans have been doing a lot to promote and discuss her and it makes me happy. Because she is someone who works tirelessly for herself and fans, it's nice that her fans can work for her too. Even this recent news about her musical success, I haven't seen any word or sharing about it from OT-8/9/whatever S*ne. If Seomates hadn't bothered translating it and circulating it, it would've been buried. Her very real and impressive achievements would go unappreciated. I'm not complaining because I have no expectations anymore anyway. I just want to say I'm proud Seomates are doing what we can for her instead. It is funny now how you have S*ne/SM stans who never paid attention to her musicals before trying to swoop in and start fights with fans of other idols in musicals so they can brag about SNSD/SM power. They have no idea how hard it was for her to get where she is, by herself, and how humbling her success is. I have never seen one Seohyun fan care about competing with anyone else, just supporting her. So if you guys see anything like that, be sure to set the record straight.
  6. Yes I'm sure she has another musical already planned for Winter. And I don't think she will have a solo this year. She never takes long periods of time off though so I'm reaaaaaaaally curious what she will do in the later half of this year. Japanese albums/singles never take up much time since they don't really promote them. I think before another musical she will have another drama or movie. What if all the "Party" hints refer to an upcoming acting project that might be announced soon?
  7. I don't think Seohyun ever mentioned anything about the movie. She said she chose to sing the song because she related to the lyrics. I'm actually hoping if she does musicals she continues to take established shows like Mamma Mia instead of first-time productions, no matter how popular the content is. New musicals like Gone With the Wind tend to have early adaption issues and more critics.
  8. I hope not since I don't really care for Frozen and Anna's not really that interesting or important a character. I think Fany's just liking just because, you know, she's a Disney fan. People think she may be hinting her birthday party? But I think she really is just thinking about her hair and missing it hahaha. Who knows what she is doing these days. Moon Lovers is already starting a countdown and as far as we know Seohyun hasn't even started filming yet She'll have about 1.5-2 months to get all her scenes in depending on how much post-production is involved. So I won't expect a whole ton of her. Not that I was expecting a lot anyway since Korean dramas are way shorter than Chinese ones and there's dozens of characters in this one. I just hope her scenes are at least really pretty and impactful, if they're short. I think she may be announcing a new project really soon. With Mamma Mia and the movie over, and Moon Lovers being such a short engagement, she has to already be planning. Usually projects are secured months in advance. There is definitely no group comeback this year with other members new projects lasting well into the end of the year. There might be TTS (I heard rumors of a concert), which is okay with me, but I'd much rather have Seohyun doing her own individual activities. A concert before all three of them have solos is honestly awkward to me because you know they'll try to squeeze solo songs in there.
  9. Relax guys...let's just keep calm and keep our heads down until things are actually decided. Anyway look at this. Seohyun will always meet the success she deserves. Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet No other idol except Junsu can claim this type of impact on popular musicals, and no other female idol for sure (of this generation). She's really pioneering something and I am so proud.
  10. If there is something I learned in recent years it is to keep expectations low for Seohyun and just trust her, because satisfaction is hard to come by and she is smarter than all of us in the long run. Otherwise there's a lot of bitterness that builds up. Even if comes from a rightful place, there's nothing we as fans can do about frustration except wait and support her more.
  11. When I talk about the Arch 101 movie, it's not because I think Seohyun is still owed the role. What's done in is done, and the outcome had it been Seohyun isn't guaranteed the same, and it's rightfully the role of the actress who took it. The purpose in bringing it up is to situate the loss in a greater scheme of SM not taking advantage of opportunities for Seohyun, NOT to belittle the person who got to do it.
  12. I would be happy to see Seohyun in a situation like Sohee, who is working on projects she likes at her own pace. She's doing supporting roles in movies with Gong Yoo, dramas on TvN, and still close and in touch with her members. Not obsessed with popularity but at least has the freedom to explore and pick. I think if Seohyun had similar freedom she'd be a force to reckon with, because her nature is so so so active and productive. She said not long ago she's looking to take time to study acting/singing abroad and that got me wondering if she really might not resign (or if she will resign and take hiatus). She is not someone who says things like that recklessly. She follows through with her plans. A lot of K-sone started arguing about that interview and then Seohyun posted that IG message "a good relationship is.....".
  13. I don't care so much about popularity as much as Seohyun's chance to prove herself (as a singer, actress, artist). She is not someone who chases fame. The only benefit to popularity is options and leverage, but sometimes popularity can get in the way of that too. Other members for example are boxed in by popularity to only do certain types of projects. It's good for Seohyun to be in a place where she can take a variety of projects and characters instead of just lead roles in typical dramas and movies. Even if/when she's more popular, I hope she still has that room to experiment.
  14. I don't know if I agree she's grown more this way. Seohyun's work ethic, sincerity, sense of picking meaningful/challenging projects, and drive to improve has always been strong. If she had her opportunity to start everything years earlier, when her popularity was at its peak, she would've made incredible progress by now. Yes, she would've had her fair share of hate too, but at least she could've had her trial and error stage at a forgivable age, and when the market was less saturated with rookies. Now she's not only competing against people of her own seniority, but an influx of younger and more polished idols too. In having to wait so long she lost out on valuable time to grow. No doubt, she will still grow from this point, but like I said, she's starting late and might not catch up.
  15. Yes, I'm almost positive the only reason she's allowed to do the musicals she wants now is because it was the priority she demanded in her 2013 contract. It's remarkable actually that SM hasn't forced her to star in their own SM musicals. I think she knew it would get in the way of her being taken seriously. But in asking for freedom it's pretty much a given SM won't help her get roles or promote them. In a way it makes me more proud because everything she's achieved in that field is on her own. I hope with next year's contract renewal she makes similar requests for acting and singing.
  16. That's why I try to look at things positively, because I know Seohyun would. Still some Sone act like we're just imagining things when we say she's not getting what she deserves, but how do you argue with Seohyun herself and people close to her bringing it up on their own? There's a deliberate pattern of unfairness. It's trite to compare her to people like Amber because her situation and position in the group is different. For some reason (I have my speculations but I'll keep them to myself for now) SM isn't keen on utilizing her or letting her take the opportunities she's given. I'd understand if she wasn't talented, popular, hardworking or marketable, but we know that's not the case. I don't mind waiting because I know she'll fight for her work eventually, but I do mind that the wait isn't always her choice and she's losing out on ridiculous amount of time. It's been almost 10 years and she's barely standing on her own feet. In a magazine (The Celebrity?) she talked about how the songs of hers that were rejected. She wants to write music with themes of girlhood/friendship/journey. SNSD as a whole talked about the type of songs SM lets them write - love songs, inspirational songs for men, "I am your goddess!" etc. Tae*ny only got to do something different for their solos. As for the CF thing, I'm honestly surprised because months ago it looked like it was only Seohyun (along with one representative each from other countries), now suddenly it's two? But there's nothing we can do about it. I don't have anything against other members, but I really thought Seohyun was finally getting her opportunity to shine. I won't waste my time being bitter. SM could've gone one step further and replaced her altogether. Like I said, I don't want to take anything away from other members, even if I am a little sad. Yu*ri is getting a lot of support for an acting career launch and I have a feeling it's a condition she negotiated for renewing her contract. All of them are trying to secure a future for themselves. I'm just gonna hope whatever Seohyun's planning does herself justice. Realistically, I don't see her not signing again next year because she understands how much people invest in the SNSD forever thing, and she's not secure enough yet. But if she doesn't sign, I will be pleasantly surprised. She has enough wit and industry support and good judgement to start again from the bottom.
  17. It's honeysoda I want to do a bit of a detailed reflection on Seohyun's (often held back) progress. MUSICALS Seohyun was the last member to star in a musical, although she wanted it most and took musicals most seriously. This is not a slight to other members. It was always her dream. The passion she has for musicals is unmatched. She watches over 30 shows a year, actively engages in the musical theatre community, and performed musical-inspired stages for her solos at SNSD concerts. Countless interviews over the years she would say she’s envious of those who had the opportunity to stand on a musical stage. It turns out SM had been blocking her since 2010 (confirmed by Kyuhyun), because they did not want her quiet, innocent maknae image to be compromised. Only in 2014, seven years after debut, was she allowed to perform. Every casting and production of hers since has been outside SM, through her own efforts and merits. She is building a tradition of taking roles that are daring for a popular female idol, especially one with her image. And she is fast succeeding in winning over critics and audiences, who are among the harshest in protecting their field. “Musicals were the first time I felt alive†- Seohyun, 2016. ACTING Seohyun was the last member to start acting, although she expressed plans as early as pre-debut interviews, and many times since. She had received numerous offers for dramas and movies after the explosive popularity of WGM (which was at all-time highest ratings as a program, and actually peaked during her segment). SM turned away these offers without even consulting her. One of which would go on to be one of the biggest hits of recent Korean film history, Architecture 101. The image of the character (an innocent, slightly awkward piano-playing college student named Seoyeon), was intended to echo of the image of Seohyun in WGM still fresh in the public’s mind. She was the first one offered the role. It was only through producers in 2013, and Seohyun herself in 2014, that we found out she lost out on the role. SM then went on to heavily media play her first cameo appearance in a 2013 low-budget drama as “New Nation’s First Love! Su*zy’s Rivalâ€. It was an embarrassing and shameless manipulation at the expense of Seohyun’s debut (which she intended to be low key) that only garnered her hate. On Radio Star, she talked about her devastation regarding the movie role and even went as far to say “I hate my company†for it, which someone as careful as her would never dare unless she felt it true and necessary. Even now, 10 years since debut, she is still relegated to supporting roles packaged under her juniors from Exo. Seohyun’s network in the drama and film industry, like in musicals, is extensive and impressive for someone who has barely had jobs. Which means she has long been gathering visibility and guidance behind the scenes. MUSIC We know Seohyun has a passion for music since childhood. Her mother was a trained jazz pianist who owned her own academy. Seohyun is a talented piano player herself. On WGM we also saw she can pick up violin, guitar, and flute practically on the spot. On a radio show, Taeyeon once picked Seohyun as the most talented member musically and said she follows along film scores by ear. On the TaeTiSeo, she also said Seohyun has the most natural sense of harmony/flow when recording. Yoon Gun once said she has a surprising intelligence and passion for music, and celebrated veteran singer Ha Choonhwa picked Seohyun as someone she sees most likely following in her footsteps. In 2010-2011, she started expressing her own interest in learning how to write, compose, and produce. During Party and Lion Heart promotions, Seohyun revealed on more than one occasion she has many songs on her computer that despite her many tries, SM won’t use, so she intends to produce them for herself. One of the reasons her songs are rejected are because her desire to write women-centric lyrics don’t satisfy the romantic standards SM has for SNSD (Baby Maybe, Dear Santa, Only U - all love songs). As a vocalist, she said she wasn’t getting vocal lessons until musicals were an option, because expectations of her singing were always fixed (harmony, support, neutral anchor). TTS was originally intended as a duo Tae*ny had asked for, and rumored later as a TTJ unit, but Seohyun was added to round out the sound. That explains at times the way she sticks out in an awkward way. Again, like with musicals and acting, she has a surprising network of musician friends and seniors. We’ve seen little of what she can really do. As with musicals and acting, I’m sure Seohyun will finally have her chance to show us herself as a musician and singer. As with musicals and acting, it will probably come very late. What I am grateful for however is every year, she is growing more vocal about , and in the meantime making the absolute most of what she has in front of her. It is frustrating to know she could’ve have grown so much more by now if she wasn’t always last in line for everything. The seniors she’s worked with call her a “spongeâ€, someone with a scary ability to absorb and improve herself based on her environment.
  18. HAPPY 1000 PAGES! Since more people are talking about the possibility of a Seohyun solo (finally!), more people are gonna come out and say the same old boring things like "she's awkward" "she has nothing unique", etc. Avoid calling these people haters and sticking tongues out, and instead emphasize why YOU don't agree. After all, music is subjective. Nobody is universally liked. It's okay if people don't trust her yet (they will after they see her best). Just speak calmly and sincerely about why you have faith in her, and it'll attract more fans for her than arguing. Secondly, what kind of music do we think Seohyun might put out, and what do we want to see? It's probably still some time away, and after other member solos, but we can have fun here. I think it'll be something public-friendly. When I look at the type of songs Seohyun picks as her favorites from previous SNSD and TTS albums, they're all the ones that are popular with fans and very listenable. Kissing You, Only U, Greenlight, Baby Maybe, Merry Christmas, Love Sick, Karma Butterfly....these are some of the best songs on the albums I think. She favors things that are uncomplicated and enjoyable to listen to. Remember that questionnaire where she had to pick her least favorite SNSD song and she chose all the title tracks?.....haha. Because she is a musical freak, she knows what kind of songs are catchy and fun, and create a great stage. Out of all the members I think she has the best idea of what a "public friendly" type song is. She won't try too hard to be cool or experimental (with music). If her solo debut is anything like these B-side songs, but with A-side production and some extra oomph, I think she has a great chance of picking a song most people will like. I also think Seohyun has a lot of pride, she won't put out something others don't like just for the sake of her own preference. And she's friends with people like Akdong Musician, Wonder Girls, Younha, that producer who is a huge fan of hers from Radio Star (he made some of the top kpop hits of the 90s)....people who make their own great music. She said before she wants to work with JYP as a producer, and she is a fan of his style. His songs are catchy and funky. I'm sure there's lots of other artists she's interested in and connected with that we don't know about. Her own taste good, and she understands popular taste too. So I'm confident she'll have a great title track (if SM doesn't ruin it). What I DON'T think she'll do: ballad, sitting down with instrument type song. She said before she prefers faster music. I don't think she will waste an entire solo on piano and guitar either (maybe b-side performances). It'll be hard for music shows, and like I said before, Seohyun has a lot of pride. She'll want to show a stage that puts all her talents on display, including dancing. I don't mean hard choreo, but something interesting that matches the song. Like when she did Stuff Like That There. I don't think Seohyun's voice suits ballads either. Her tone is beautiful and clear, but it won't stand out on a ballad enough for the public to go crazy. She needs a song that works with her voice. When she sang Popular at her birthday....THAT was her true vocal skill. With all the different sounds, voice acting....it was perfect.
  19. I don't think there will be unrealistic standards of Seohyun because people don't really have expectations of what her solo will be like anyway. She's always been a quiet/"hidden card" member. Don't be fooled by those jumping on the Seohyun bandwagon right now because trust me, a lot more people are decades behind and think she's a boring robot with no personality/fans/talent. There's still a long way to go. We know how much she's evolved and how much she will continue to better herself and surprise. So IMO anything she does will be better than what most expect, when she finally gets her moment. I don't think there's a "rift" either. It's natural people bicker and nitpick. If anything a little healthy drama keeps people interested. Seomates just aren't used to it being focused on Seohyun, but it's normal. In the greater picture everyone knows Seohyun is a sincere person who deserves what she works for, regardless of some pettiness on the internet. Every other member has fanwars much worse. It doesn't change the tangible results like sales, core support, and performance so don't even waste your time worrying about that. Look at how much J*ssica is selling even with 24/7 cat fighting, slandering, hate. It's ridiculous but it doesn't affect her. Even Tiff is selling very well, with all the criticism. If people decide to not support Seohyun because of some fan friction, they're taking things way too deep or weren't going to support her anyway.
  20. Seohyun doesn't have the same kind of attention from people already out to get her. It's one of the reasons I'm glad she's not "popular" in that sense - she can steer clear of drama and wank. Fandoms might not focus on her but at least the public is more aware of her. I am not worried about her solo because either way I'm sure Seomates will know to keep their expectations realistic (and Seohyun will exceed them hahaha). That poll about how much Seohyun would sell got me wondering. I think people underestimate her selling power. 1. For one, even though she doesn't have a ton of loud casual fans, her own fans are very very organized, loyal, and smart. They're older professionals well equipped to buy. In Korea, many SONE love her, even if she's not their bias. She's a point of pride in SNSD and when it's her turn I'm sure they'll rally beautifully to support her. 2. She still has a huge, dedicated international fandom from WGM. They are annoying pests that never go away, but in the case of a solo album, it might be a plus. Shippers are extremely attached and spend money like crazy. 3. She has decent public popularity, and with her future acting activities, her profile will go up even more. Her movie and drama will help her build more popularity in China too, where it's already decent without doing anything. And we know how Chinese fans rally. I expect she'll have 1-2 more acting projects before officially releasing a solo. 4. Her musical fanbase is exploding. I saw a tweet that said with Mamma Mia alone she's performed to 50K people. Musical fans are RICH. A huge system of support for artists like Kyu*hyun and J*unsu. 5. She is a blank slate. Not overwhelmingly popular like some members, and no overwhelming antis or naysayers either. No drama. This gives her the perfect position to surprise. Her image, reputation, and neutrality are valuable. If her album surprises with great quality, I think casual kpop fans won't hesitate to support her. I believe this too. Of course there's always room for mistakes and poor judgement, but considering the perfectionist she is, and the kind of standard of integrity she holds up for herself, she won't embarrass herself. I also believe Seohyun is a very creative and perceptive person who knows how to read people. She'll know how to play her cards to get people on her side. And if they aren't, she has the strength of mind not to care.
  21. Nose, eyes and teeth? Her face wasn't as defined before either but that could also be weight loss. Her chin looks a bit strange in the last picture.
  22. Seohyun's natural eyebrow shape is soooo much nicer than the weird straight brows they try to give her. They make her look regal, even as a child. I wish to death someone could get it into her head, or her makeup stylist's head, that they need to stop messing with her eyebrows because they were originally perfect.
  23. Why was I banned from the Bashing thread? I only recall posting in it once months ago and it was the tamest bash ever. I didn't defend or not follow the thread rules as far as I know....I'm lost. I just want to be able to read it.
  24. I believe you have to report the specific comments. One enough comments are reported the user is banned. This is the steps that account shared
  25. Did you guys see Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet This cnblaire person has been being abusive to Seohyun for a long time it seems, and even calls her and sends death threats. It's a crazy CN*Blue fan that hates Seohyun and shippers. And shippers don't make it any better by replying to this person like "SHUT UP! YO*GSEO FOREVER!". Honestly they are the most annoying fans. They take shipping as life and death and don't know how to separate WGM from Seohyun's life now. All they do is create fan wars and antis for Seohyun. It's so frustrating because Seohyun is working so hard on so many things that need support, and it has been so many years since WGM, but shit like this is still an issue because people don't know how to move on or keep their delusions in the appropriate place. This is why I want Seohyun to do more acting projects more than ever. From dramas and movies she can bring in a new fan base that can finally drown out YS shippers who act like they own her and everything she does is for them. I'm also disappointed in Sone because other members can get one or two dumb comments but an entire protection squad army is launched for them, but something like this can be going on to Seohyun for months and nobody besides some Seomates try to do anything. As far as hate comments, I don't think Seohyun pays much mind. She will not respond or take them to heart, if she is even reading. But it makes me furious that she gets calls that can disturb her. Sasaengs have been sharing her number. We all know she already has problems with sleeping, she has a tiring schedule and keeps in contact with many people, and she even keeps all schedules on her phone personally (as opposed to with a manager). I hope she can change her number and find some peace. I hope all Seomates in this thread report that user.
